For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I guess there are worse things in the world I hope I haven't killed the thread or anything.

Franny? Start shouting or something... come on... 'right you orrible lot'

FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2007 21:50

[stunned at evilness of dragon fruit]

right, sorry, erm, where were we

I have had more blueberries, and half a banana

god I am knackered. Ds weighed a ton on the bike today and the wind was blowing against me - both ways! How does that work?

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 23/08/2007 21:52

Phew you're ok! I'm off to bed. Night all

FrayedKnot · 23/08/2007 21:53

Franny when you cycle, do you go on actual roads?

We have a bike seat for DS which only fits on my bike but I so scared of the traffic I keep putting off going with him. He is heavy and last time I almost dropped the bike with him on too

I only need to go a little way and then can get off raod but the little way petrifies me.

FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2007 21:56

No not if I can avoid it. I mean bits and pieces like you say, and I am getting better at being assertive and making the traffic go round me, but I basically stick to the cycle paths. We have one of those seats as well and it is easy to over balance I agree. I prefer the trailer although ds is probably more vulnerable while sitting in it - hence me staying off the roads.

I was wistful too. I think it was the space, Avi, roome to breathe! I like my terrace but it is dark and dusty in places.

I was talking about f and b paints today on here. I did mine in Ecos paint last Novemeber. It looks really chalky. I love it.

NotReallyHerePossum · 23/08/2007 22:58

Now just when i decide I Really Do Not Need To Post, along comes an intersting mention. Is there really some freaky shared conciousness of 10/10ers?? It spooks me. Mrs C, I have been contemplating Ecos paints. Are they worth the money? How do they wear with small grubby paws around the place?
Had plums, grapes, twigs (stringy runner beans), corn on the cob, onion in my omlette = 5. Oh dear. And no exercise. And too many biscuits. Am a lardy lump, sigh.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 23:16

I am always amazed too, Possum, it's uncanny sometimes. Even though no-one else is a water sign If I believed in it I might mind

Yes, ecos paints are marvellous. I was particularly impressed with the woodwork gloss, it's a lovely matt sport of gloss if that makes sense. My painter was very sceptical about using them and constantly suggested Dulux 'breathe easy' as a better option but he said they were lovely to work with despite needing an extra coat or so. I know the breathe easy range are not better as my friend is a conservation officer and has to go on courses all the time about paints for stately homes and so on. She says the chemicals used to mask the smell in breather easy are just as bad and she would never paint her home in them.

They do mark easily, but they wipe well too and I would prefer that to breathing in god knows what. My whole house was being painted top to bottom and dd had asthma as a baby, I' didn't want Lo to be born into a fumey house.
Have you looked at their fab interactice charts? Such a time waster! here

TooTicky · 23/08/2007 23:39

Sorry Franny, didn't I elaborate? We share a birthday

Dd1 is back from Guide camp and had a wonderful time - hooray!!
Have just come back from longwinded meeting with thoroughly lovely people about how we can stop our ethical, fair trade shop from closing down.

"Is there really some freaky shared conciousness of 10/10ers?"

Yes indeed. Tatties and I met our partners on the same day in 1999. That's one of my favourite 10 / 10 co-incidences. Avi has the same birthday as my son, and now we find TooT and I share a birthday as well. Superb.

Possum [kick up the arse]. What are you eating today? Come on, come on, get those twigs down you.

Avi it was just the space, and the light, and the nature posters Oh and the kitchen of course. But mostly the quality of the light - it looks gorgeous. And you haven't got crap all over your floor, or plastic beepy shit piled in all corners of the room.

Have eaten blueberries (am turning blue like girl in Roald Dahl story), grapes, raisins. The fruit man cometh.

DOES anyone know when BBB and 3andnomore and 100x will be back? I am getting twitchy about all the cheap hotel rooms getting booked. What if a rival group of sausage roll eaters gazump us?

Are they back this weekend or should I just pick a date going on the responses I have had so far?

FK - Im fire - Leo. Cant remember the typical traits from long ago when I read such things but I do have a lot of them.

Dragonfruit looks stunning!!! how disappointing that inside it's nothingness. Is that a good parallel with life, or am I talking shite, or is it too early for such thoughts?

Did 10 yesterday with fruit and salad but need to get more veg in diet. Today oj, strawberries and grapes already. Does marmalade count?

pinkspottywellies · 24/08/2007 08:56

Franny, I met dh in Feb '99. What date did you meet dp?

I've just had the last of the stewed plums on my porridge and I had 3 heaped tablespoons (thinking of veg amounts) but I've just looked plums up on the list and I think I've had about 3 portions!

Boco · 24/08/2007 09:20

Well, paint - we've just used Holkam Linseed Oil Paint - comes in really lovely colours - used it on sash windows outside in a chalky grey against white house and it looks really good, and inside on doors - takes loads of layers though, but comes with this funny round brush which makes painting very satisfying.

Still thinking about breakfast.

DollyPopsOut · 24/08/2007 09:21

Morning

I am ashamed to admit I am a virgo. None of the tidy traits, but lots of the anal ones alas. Oh dear.

Franny I still haven't emailed about the meet up - am very sorry but got waylaid last night but 400 bottles of wine and a load of girlfriends so am functioning very slowly. Would love to join you and am in London anyway so happy to fit round everyone else.

Off to the outlaws today for the weekend. Nice. Not. Wish me luck

10/10 - easily done the exercise but only did about 5 yesterday. Will try harder over the weekend.

pinkspottywellies · 24/08/2007 09:26

Plums (2)
Dried apricots (1)
Orange Juice (1)
Yay! Looks like it could be another 10 day! I'm definitely going to do some exercise today.

TooTicky · 24/08/2007 09:37

Apple with my muesli.

Want to do gardening but have to wait in for 2 deliveriers for dp

TooTicky · 24/08/2007 09:41

Deliveries, that is.

MrsCarrot · 24/08/2007 09:46

Boco - that was where she was finding out about paints for when I spoke to my friend about it, Holkham Hall. She had to have lots of meetings with the Earl of Leicester, Robert Cooke? She said he was very nice and into environmental issues and talked for hours about linseed paints. Have you been there? I love sitting in the grounds with a pie from their deli or going over to the beach.

I don't know about 3andnomore but BBBee said she was back Friday, and I think 100x said she was going fr a week last Friday so I would guess they''ll chack in today or tomorrow, Franny. Reeelaaaax

Porridge with sultanas. No fruit, as there isn't any. I will be pottering around all day packing as we don't leave until 4pm. I can use my friends computer hopefully so I won't be gone completely.

I ate some fruit and veg in '99

pinkspottywellies · 24/08/2007 09:50

dd is scorpio if that helps?

TooTicky · 24/08/2007 09:56

MrsC, my ds2 is Scorpio. 24th Oct.

MrsCarrot · 24/08/2007 10:12

dd and ds1 are too, makes for interesting grumps!
