For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Thankee.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 18:37

Oh yes, have a nice time Lionhart. I am off to Edinburgh tomorrow too, but not until late afternoon. Maybe I'll try that CAT thing then.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 18:38

Hope you have lots of cream teas and fish and chips!

lionheart · 23/08/2007 18:40

That would not be very 10/10, now would it, MrsC?

But while we're on the subject may I take this opportunity to wish you gallons of whisky, plenty of haggis and some of those little shortbread petticoats.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 18:42

I shall have none of those, Lionhart, but I thank you anyway

FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2007 18:45

I had some salad bits for lunch, and some banana, probably about 1.5 portions. Then went out for epic bike ride / walk in woods with ds, got back feeling absolutely dead tired, achey, cold and WET - got into the bath together and ate enormous dinners [beatific smile]

Had roast squash, courgette and peppers, with some quorn (thought of claiming this as a vegetable just to piss you all off, heh) and bulgar wheat, and sweetcorn. Probably 4 portions.

I wish everyone would stop going away and just STAY IN ONE PLACE for a bit

how am I supposed to get this meet up organised?

OP posts:
lionheart · 23/08/2007 18:51

Back in a week.

Oh I do like to be beside ....

Actually, that's one of the odd things about that child in the woods book, it's quite terra-centric.

I suppose because you can be a long way from the coast in the US.

lionheart · 23/08/2007 18:52

We are going to look for Puff the Magic Dragon and have packed our torches for an expedition.

filthymindedvixen · 23/08/2007 18:55

ut isn't quorn a fungi type thing? So might pass as a mushroom... >

Tatties, until dh gets offa his arrrse and buys a new mouse, i cannot access any of my old emails (which have your mobile in ) So could somebody just reassure me it's not this weekend....?

FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2007 18:56

Yes I am still reading a bit each morning when I get the chance, and was wondering when he would get to beaches and so on

it's done terrible things to me, that book, lionheart I've just made my birthday list and it is full of things like "thermal underwear. waterproof trousers." I blame you entirely

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2007 18:58

FMF it is NOT this weekend you're about 3 months out

yes that was what put it into my head to mention quorn as one of my 10 a day [trouble-making] I think it is about as far from a natural vegetable as you can get so I did not push my luck

OP posts:
filthymindedvixen · 23/08/2007 19:08

I may come without children if that is acceptable...

lionheart · 23/08/2007 19:15

Same here, Franny, DS's have been trying to catch flying ants today while I have been trying not to grimace.

"Oh my, you nearly got that one!" YUK! YUK! YUK!

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 23/08/2007 19:20

thanks for encouragement gals! all yoou need sometimes is for someone else to tell you to chill, you're doing grand.

What is a dragon fruit?

Im going nowhere, but I doubt Ill make the meet up unless its in Ireland!

FrayedKnot · 23/08/2007 20:01

'Lo everyone

This week is not going as well as I'd hoped..weather and PMS both having a strong influence

Today
Sultanas with my cereal
Two clementines
Pasta with tomato & spinach sauce
Stewed fruit (half of which got burnt to the bottom of the pan at myslef)

In between I have had a mini quiche, a bakewell tart, and oat and raisin cookie

The gardening man came yesterday and DS & I have been planning our veg garden today - it is going to be tiny so I need to plan carefully

DS would like to plant potatoes, carrots, peas, beans, sweetcorn and sausages

pinkspottywellies · 23/08/2007 20:15

I can't keep up with you lot who come on here in the day!
Food: raisins (1) apple (1) orange juice (1)
salad - lettuce, cucumber, toms, prepared salady things inc lentils, wild rice, seeds, coleslaw, basil pasta (2), 1.5 peaches (1.5) stir fry inc carrot, cabbage, peppers, spring onion, mushrooms, garlic (3) mango (.5)

Yes! 10! Woo hoo \o/

What kind of paintings do you do Boco? I have no artistic talent whatsoever!
I had a lovely lavender cookie last year and I'm just waiting to get the recipe from my friend to use our lavender from the garden. We sell floral gums at the sweet shop. They're really popular! I eat one or two if I drop them but I wouldn't buy them. Also do violet fondant (violent fondle!) sometimes which is also popular.
Is there a plan for the meet up? Do I need to email you Franny to get details?
I'm intriuged by all the poo stories [gulp] I have those delights yet to come I assume!
LL you must look after yourself and if that means the dishes pile up then let them! I wish I was nearer and could help out.

FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2007 20:22

Yes yes email me about the meet up, everyone must email me

frannyandzooey at india dot com

PSW woohoo

FK not bad...you get extra points for the proposed sausage plant I think

FMF come with or without children, come with a whoop or come with a call, come with a good will or not at all

WWdewmeadow I have also been wondering about the dragon fruit. Glad you are feeling encouraged again. There are not many jobs more important than feeding and holding a tiny baby.

Boco I really liked seeing your pictures, and I want to call them 'charming' but am wondering if that is patronising. They have charmed me, anyway.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 20:32

Franny - I can't see my purse for the CAT thing and I REALLY want to see Boco's paintings. Could you bear to forward my address to her? I'll put an extra layer on your birthday ball!

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 20:36

A dragon fruit is very pretty on the outside, slightly diasapointing on the inside, and very disappointing on the tongue.

pinkspottywellies · 23/08/2007 20:37

Perfect description of dragon fruit MrsC!

pinkspottywellies · 23/08/2007 20:40

Yay! I got a badge I got a badge
I didn't do any particular exercise today though but I did 4 hours cleaning. Please can that count until I get my lead for the PS2?
Franny, please could you also email my address to Boco or email me the links.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 20:45

You have to offer her something PSW. I am going to put an extra layer on the ball!

pinkspottywellies · 23/08/2007 20:50

I don't have anything to offer maybe she would like to borrow my pink spotty wellies at the meet up commune? [hopeful]
