For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

LOL at dh's flower story!!

tried grass once (does that count?) but it made me feel a bit paranoid!! Also nasturtuims (sp) once - they're good in salad if you like that sort of thing.

After lashings and lashings of birthday cake I did 10 yesterday with no rubbish, and today Im on 6 with a 30 min walk/run today [v pleased with myself emoticon.

my baby is 6 weeks and bf and is v demanding re feeding and cuddling, and Im feeling this pressure that Im doing it wrong and she should be sleeping longer and on her own more.

TooTicky · 23/08/2007 16:49

Willow, ignore any external pressure. My youngest is 2 and still bf when she wants and gets lots of cuddles/carrying around. She's happy and I'm happy. Babies need their mothers and plenty of physical contact. Read Baby Wisdom by Deborah Jackson and then quote it at annoying people. Also the Continuum Concept by Jean...um...damn, I can't remember!

TooTicky · 23/08/2007 16:51

Aha, there is a website. Jean Liedloff. here

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 16:55

lol at the gp thinking mr boco had a flower fetish Boco I'd like to see too but I'm unsure about putting my address up as it has my name in, now I'm more aware of the watchers in the woods did you get the group e-mail?

filthymindedvixen · 23/08/2007 17:04

i cn't do email at the mo as my upstairs mouse has dies and i can't do email on laptop...
I am of all you creative types. I crave creativity but am more of a preschool artists - bags of enthusiasm and arty ideas but alack, little discernible talent. I used to call myself a writer but I am not angst ridden enough these days to feel the muse...my friends call my 'artistic' which translaltes as ''messy house, jangly jewellery and a front room crammed full of half-painted pots, bad watercolours, things made from bits of stick, feathers and string and tangled knitting''

TooTicky · 23/08/2007 17:10

fmv
I think craving creativity is the main thing, after that it's just a matter of working out what you're good at.

filthymindedvixen · 23/08/2007 17:17

humph. I'm 37. You think it would have become clear by now...Bloody typical gemini - jack of all trades, master of none!

TooTicky · 23/08/2007 17:20

But surely you're too busy to let it flow atm. I find consolation in the fact that I will be able to do these things in the child-free years I will have later on.

zippitippitoes · 23/08/2007 17:22

in context of which zippi refers to the fact that she is unemployable despite having spent 8 years in post 18 full time education and is proposing a further 4 after which she will probably still be as crap...I must be the only person who leaves off qualifications in order to try and get jobs (unsuccessfyully)

Boco · 23/08/2007 17:29

100x had some good advice about that kind of stuff - she was basically saying that you need to treat it like a job of work - it's a hard slog - not everyone has that creativity flowing effortlessly from soul to page / canvas etc, you've actually got to sit down and get on with it, simple as that. I do struggle with that - as children are a huge distraction, and although it's not easy, if you do want to paint or write, you have to be ruthless and fearless and just get on with it.

TooTicky · 23/08/2007 17:37

But Zippi, employment requirements are so damn complicated these days - all those new-fangled, overly specific vocational qualifications.

lionheart · 23/08/2007 18:00

Do you not use the Contact Another Talker thingy (if you don't want to have your mail address up on the boards)?

Tatties · 23/08/2007 18:10

Whomping, you're not doing things wrong at all. If it feels right to be feeding and cuddling most of the time then do that. 6 weeks is still really early days.

FMV you have my number don't you? Give me a buzz if you want meet-up details.

LL email Franny about the meet-up, her email is somewhere on this thread...

I have just eaten 2 slices of toast with nutella. My dinner is ready now. That's not good is it? But I am planning to go to the gym later (although will probably stop in by the shop on the way home to find something that will satisfy my pre-menstrual cravings)

FrannyandZooey · 23/08/2007 18:16

Aviatrix, I didn't remember, I had to search [doh] I have a shocking memory really

TooT, sorry, which bit was spooky?

Whomping I think it sounds like you are getting things JUST RIGHT. I found Dr Sears really reassuring and encouraging when ds was small. I am happy to lend you the book if you think it would help? Plus - OMG your baby is only 6 weeks old and you are going for 30 min walk / runs??? I don't think I had been much further than the end of the road to the postbox when ds was 6 weeks old. Do take care of yourself. It's such an overwhelming time and you shouldn't really be doing much else other than feeding, and eating cake (oh and f+v)

Oh yes LL please email me

I have plans and dates and all sorts but we need to fix a definite date this weekend I reckon. When are BBB and 100 and 3andnomore getting back?

lionheart · 23/08/2007 18:19

I second TooT's recommendation of Baby Wisdom.

It's a great book to dip into, to see how things have been done in the past and how they are done in different cultures.

Helps to break through the orthodoxies and is very good for that reason alone.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 18:26

Is 100x an artist too then, Boco? I thought you and her were both journalists before this week for some reason, maybe it's your writing style.

I haven't had much faith in the CAT thing after Franny kept doing it and I heard nothing. Is it usually more efficient? Maybe I should get a Carrotty e-mail address.

Am just about to have jacket potato, green beans, tuna, salad and our own tomatoes. They are soldiering on despite no sun

filthymindedvixen · 23/08/2007 18:28

my ittle toms are heart-shaped
Am just about to tuck into a lovely potato and spinachy curry thing. And more plums. PPPrrrrrrpppp. Sorry.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 18:29

Yes, that baby wisdom is good. I liked Three in a Bed too though I found that a little too far the other way. I felt guilty for ever putting DD down after reading that. It is a balance I think.

MrsCarrot · 23/08/2007 18:30

Mmmm, curry, haven't had that for ages.

lionheart · 23/08/2007 18:31

Never had any trouble with the CAT thing before, MrsC.

I am off on my hols tomorrow, to Devon by the sea with buckets and spades, me hearties.

Have had masses of fresh fruit today (using it all up before travelling).

filthymindedvixen · 23/08/2007 18:33

I want to be on holidays again! Wish you lots of sunshine m'dear.
