For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny, dp has a new machine.... he can now print things on sparkly vinyl - for T shirts, shoes, cars - I think you can stick it on almost anything. Immortalise those bizarre sparkly fonts!

Oh, am intending to go to bed EARLY tonight. So if anybody sees me here later on PLEASE SEND ME AWAY!

FrayedKnot · 21/08/2007 20:46

Evening all

God it takes me ages to catch up on all these MORNING posts

I work in the mornings so rarely get on here before mid-afernoon.

Then I spent ages doodling about on the Community Playthings site

Anyway, today has been rather average

Apple
Grapes
Aubergine in leftover lentil moussaka
Big stirfry with runner beans, baby corn, peppers & carrots

I have bought a whole orchard of fruit inluding a VERY expensive dragon fruit which DS asked for - never tried it before so all the name of experimentation

So shortly I will be topping up

No exercise yet

zippitippitoes · 21/08/2007 20:48

exh is the father of my children..he is an expat in hongkong..however I don't like him having his oar in my life more than absolutely necessary..

2 more nectarines bag salad tuna steak and banana

it is complicated was with exh for 23 years and then dp for 8

I'm more of a stayer than a goer in fact the last 6 weeks is the longest I haven't been in a relationship since I was about 15

hence finding it rather freaky

zippitippitoes · 21/08/2007 20:50

oh and I have just got back from my 6 mile walk ..I went in a pub and had two bottles of water half way through..does the lemon count probably not as i didn't eat it

I do my walk in the evening...it's when I put the light off I find the hardest and waking up..it all seems kind of pointless

I did 10k on the bike at the gym. Headache gone! Avi I am still just a bit wonky, yes. It doesn't take much to knock me off balance but I usually pop up again before long, a bit like a Weeble

have eaten blueberries

Woohoo at sparkly font printing. Can we have t-shirts printed with our MN names in sparkly font for the meet up? oh GO ON it would be sooooo cool

Zippi being single is odd isn't it? I am a goer rather than a stayer, but I am a serial goer, so haven't been properly single for more than a couple of months at a time in my adult life. I sometimes miss it, but that's easy to say when you have comfortable life with nice dp

FK go and run about a bit in between eating fruit. There's plenty of time yet.

Yes I agree about Steiner-ish but not Steiner school. Am in constant cogitation about schools and home education and Steiner and forest schools and the meaning of ruddy life atm. 99% of ds's peers are off to school next month. Aaargh.

Zippi, waking up feeling pointless Oh god. You know it will get better, don't you? Complete hell in the meantime. So sorry for the place you have found yourself in at the moment.

FK - good luck with the dragon fruit! I found it a bit 'nothing' really, we also bought one once in the spirit of adventure.
Toot - we have been up to the white horse before with little cousins and swords and also held them on with the power of thought! Mum's moving soon so that was probably my last visit. I hope you're reading this tomorrow because if you're still up then GO TO BED! I'm off now too - I'm aiming for 10 o'clock this week.
I hope all the people feeling wobbly feel better. Can someone do another link to the glittery names? That can't fail to lift your spirits surely?
LL - hope you get sorted out soon. It must be frustrating waiting for tests and things.
I'm working at the sweet shop tomorrow so will be back to chocolate coated orange peel and the like!

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2007 22:13

here are the glitter names

Dior, I don't know what is the matter, but I think my first suggestion that there are not many situations that can't be improved by a glitter name is probably a bit crap. Is there anything we can do to encourage or comfort you at all?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2007 22:14

Aargh the glitter name site is kaput

well that's torn it

Dior we can provide kicks up the bottom I expect. I am sorry things are bad for you at the moment. It is very hard to look after yourself eg healthy eating etc when you are feeling crap, even though it can help so much to do it. I hope you find a way in to start making some small changes and that it will help you cope better.
