FAB TITLE BY FMF (AND BBB)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Fruity I think it is an endearing image When I was heavily pregnant and dressed all in black I often visualised myself as an expectant mama loofah...

FruityPossum · 15/08/2007 21:47

MrsC, ROFL at that lovely image, your posts do put a smile on my face.
Yes, Avi, I too need vicarious thrill of spending reckless amounts of money on lovely heuristic things for DCs, TELL US WHAT YOU BOUGHT, please.

Possum said it not me . I wondered if a loofah had made an appearance FROM a loofah. Soap on a rope is a bit more of a mouthful than bee, surely?

Possum - I like your Russian visitor story.

Boco · 15/08/2007 21:54

I would have been a very good houseguest. 100x knows - she knows i'm neurotically concerned with following rules and not messing up at all, so i wouldn't have even let my 2 year old read her dhs scripts.

There is the biggest loofah in the world somewhere behind my computer. DD1 spotted it and went into spasm - i'd hoped my reaction to them wouldn't rub off, so always try to fake a cool not bothered at all reaction when there's one about - but clearly my fakery was not good enough. Dp tried bravely to catch it, but it got away, ad now i'm typing with eyes flicking from side to side, and occasionally up and down.

Had a whole punnet of raspberries this evening and a peach, and salad for tea.

Cleaned out my cupboard and took lots to the charity shop, and now i'm really wheezy.

MrsCarrot · 15/08/2007 22:01

Just had an apple and a peach too. I really wanted that for breakfast but the brown bit was getting bigger. So annoying when fruit goes bad.

Boco - I'm sure you would have been a perfect guest. A trip to North Norfolk will be quite nice though, no?

SaggyPossum · 15/08/2007 22:02

I have an image of a super precocious two year old solemnly reading scripts then ringing up an Arts critic to give a scoop on the piece along with a considered review of its merits
Now i am conquering the fruit issue, needs must focus on that elusive 10 minutes of exercise per day. DS has the delightful habit of twanging my five spare inches of flab around my hips whenever he feeds. Not only does it tickle, it also interrupts my happy fantasy that b/feeding keeps you thin even if you have a cake habit.

MrsCarrot · 15/08/2007 22:03

How long did you get in the end too? Sounds just like my Mother, her looking after the children never seems to actually coincide with any time that would be useful to me. Sometimes you just need that length of time, I know how you feel.

Greensleeves · 15/08/2007 22:06

Evening all

I have been a bit crap on the veg front today, but I have planted things, does that count?

Franny you can put up any pics which DO NOT feature me

The cloud-box really made an impression on us, the boys keep talking to each other about it in hushed reverent tones, as though they are not quite sure it actually happened. Although I think the parnip-shaped cock impressed ds1 almost as much

3andnomore · 15/08/2007 22:07

Fennel is lovely in Juices...not to muhc fennel, just like half a bulb or so...depending on size, lol...really nice wiht all sorts of Juices....

ahundredtimes · 15/08/2007 22:07

We would have put up demanding and exacting rules all around the house Boco, particularly stringent ones would have applied to the coffee pot and the colour coded felt tip pens in the playroom.

I liked your Russian visitor story too. Boco could have worn a fur hat and been my russian visitor.

What is Avi supposed to be buying? How have I missed this? Did she get prize money or something?

ahundredtimes · 15/08/2007 22:09

Greeny - those men with the willies also made a huge impression on my DD. And one me actually. Was the way they sort of draped along the floor,

Boco · 15/08/2007 22:15

Oh 100, i probably would have had the whole family sleep in the car.

Boco · 15/08/2007 22:18

MrsC i probably did get about 3 hours in the end, but i'd been really looking forward to a day. My mum has this idea that she had the girls every wednesday, all day - but actually she doesn't. The last time she did was months ago. So it's partly the fact that i look forward to it and plan things, then it never happens.

I really want to take the girls to the gormley now,, it sounds amazing.

ahundredtimes · 15/08/2007 22:20

God, you so can't EVER come here now. How have I managed to develop this rather delicious image of OCD exactitude?

We're a bunch of appallingly lazy scruff bags, who trail weetabix and biscuit crumbs wherever we go. I was kidding about the pens. You know this right?

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2007 22:24

go to gormley

go now

it finishes this weekend I think

gooooooooooooooo

MrsCarrot · 15/08/2007 22:25

Thank god for that, 100x, my image of your welly boot strewn hall and cosy yet chic bohemian yuppiedom was heading back down the scale towards Bovis Colour coded pens?

I want a playroom.

Boco - I will look after your dd's all day. They can play with our mini tipis and playmobil indians.

ahundredtimes · 15/08/2007 22:28

'welly boot strewn hall' That does rather smack of the countryside Mrs C and I don't do that.

ahundredtimes · 15/08/2007 22:29

But I can do chic bohemian yuppiedom - oh yes.

Now where are we on the trip to Edinburgh please?

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2007 22:32

Never mind Edinburgh, can everyone email me if they are interested in a super duper 10 / 10 meet up

I want a playroom too.
I have a boot strewn utility type area.

I'll find a way to get my dds to your teepees. They can bring their playmobil campervan - it comes with little bikes and knives and forks and food and a picnic table with chairs. I set it up really nicely and then don't really want them to play with it because they mess it up.

Oh no Franny - didn't know it ended this weekend! I wonder if there's a way...dp desperate to see some things in London. Maybe!

pinkspottywellies · 15/08/2007 22:38

Hello everyone! Haven't got time to stop. Need to go to bed I set myself a challenge this week to go to bed at 10 and I only managed it on Monday so far! But half past isn't too bad!
Fruit and veg consumption still pretty poor. Sweet potato, cottage cheese and salad for lunch, juice, sweets all afternoon , banana, salad for tea. Still better than if I didn't come on here because it does make me think! I have some peaches but they're rubbish and been at mils for 2 days and they haven't got much fruit in. Will try harder
Hope everyone's well and I'll come back soon and catch up properly!

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2007 22:40

PSW I also struggle to get to bed as early as I should (except for last night when I slept on the sofa all evening then still had a good 8.5 hours in bed)

photos of the boys in London here but the best ones are of you, Mr Greeny and ds1 in the sand, Greeny. You should let me put one up...

OP posts:
Boco · 15/08/2007 22:55

Oh go on greeny! What handsome boys all of them are. How do you get such straight fringes?

TooTicky · 15/08/2007 23:27

What delightful boys

But where is this place that has willies draped on the floor? Is it really suitable for children?

Dd2 is fine following the thistle incident, thank you. I am still a bit wobbly about the look of fear and utter horror on her face as it happened though.

Ooh, Playmobil. Ds1 used to have playmobil. But now he has got all grown up and sold it and he has - no, I can't say it. But it is very and . For me, anyway. For him it is probably an important part of growing up. Or something.
