In light of the fact that Misdee's Peter may get a new heart tonight, why not sign up as a donor here? It will take two minutes.Remember, next time it might be someone you love who needs one.

I think I'm already on the register but have probably moved house since then so have signed up again just in case.

sauce · 10/08/2007 22:59

ah-HAH! So that's why those white uniformed, syringe-waving vampires were after me. I'm O+.

moondog · 10/08/2007 23:02

Fantastic.
We got to my goal of 100 posts.

That's approx. 100 more people signed up than there were yesterday.

sauce · 10/08/2007 23:04

thanks for this moondog. I'm possibly in a slightly different boat but your post prompted me to start the ball rolling re doing something constructive with my body when I go. because I have ms I want to look at the possibility of leaving it for research - as long as having a good look at my malfunctioning brain is the best use they can make of me. I think it's quite complex but because of your post I have emailed the Human Tissue Authority (apparently they're in charge) today. If it's not the best use then they can have my organs. I have been meaning to look into this for years - so thanks.

moondog · 10/08/2007 23:16

Brill
(and sorry about the MS Hatwoman. Bummer )

OP posts:
hatwoman · 10/08/2007 23:17

to be honest it's not that bad - it's a very variable disease and so far I have been very well with only about 3 spells of illness over 8-odd years.

moondog · 10/08/2007 23:19

Yes,one of my colleagues has it aND SEEMS TO BE MANAGING PRETTY NORMAL LIFE TOO.

OP posts:
sauce · 10/08/2007 23:24

Apparently I can't be a donor because my postcode's wrong. So I've asked to be directed to a Swiss-run organ donation site, if such a thing exists. Waiting for a reply...

moondog · 10/08/2007 23:25

Oh no!
Don't lose yer nerve now Sause.

OP posts:
sauce · 10/08/2007 23:29

I have NOT lost my nerve. Here's an extract of my e-mail to [email protected]:

"It appears from your website that I'm not allowed to be a potential donor as, although I'm British, I reside in Switzerland. Does Switzerland have a donor organisation? If so, could you direct me to the appropriate website? Thank you.

Sincerely,
"

moondog · 10/08/2007 23:30

Ooh,I bet the Swiss aRE very hot on this sort of thing.

OP posts:
sauce · 10/08/2007 23:31

The WHO would be and perhaps the Swiss govt, as long as it's clean!

onlyjoking9329 · 10/08/2007 23:38

i signed up ages ago steve says he would if he could.

suwoo · 10/08/2007 23:59

Ok, I've always been very nervous of doing so, but have signed up.........Anyone who is doubting the relevance/urgency then please look at Misdee/Peters youtube video, I did . Is it true about not being able to give blood after having a transfusion? It has never been more important for me to want to give blood than after being a recipient! Anyway, glad we reached the 100 donors, fingers crossed for Peter.

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 11/08/2007 01:20

Thank you MD - I tried to register as a donor a couple of years before but it didn't work so I didn't try again until now.

I'm registered now

prettypurpledaisy · 11/08/2007 09:51

Signed up today Moondog, thanks for giving me a kick up the bum been meaning to for ages.

pinkspottywellies · 11/08/2007 11:21

Sorry moondog you asked a couple of days ago why dh won't donate. He doesn't want to get to heaven and be without his eyes and organs I told him that my god would say "oh thanks for helping all those people out and here have a new set to see you through heaven!" His god is a bit less understanding than mine

boomie · 11/08/2007 11:51
