In light of the fact that Misdee's Peter may get a new heart tonight, why not sign up as a donor here? It will take two minutes.Remember, next time it might be someone you love who needs one.

Have registered and I too give blod (which I would urge you to do if you don't already).

LazyLineLegilimens · 10/08/2007 19:28

Have registered

Only didn't before now as I thought I already had, IYKWIM.....

meandmyflyingmachine · 10/08/2007 19:33

A question:

I am registered, and am also on the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow register, but am not allowed to give blood following a blood transfusion. Does this affect my status as a possible organ/bone marrow donor?

moondog · 10/08/2007 19:41

Dunno.
Would seem likely though eh?
How do yuo enroll for bone marrow thingy then?

It was years ago (pre children and resulting transfusion ). There was a session at my GP's where you went along and they took a small blood sample. DH has been called in for a further sample recently but sadly wasn't a match.

I expect their website would tell you how to go about registering.

I have a question, DH and I joined the register about 10 yrs ago, but obviously, after so many years, we have misplaced the cards. Are the cards essential if something happens?

TranquilaManana · 10/08/2007 19:57

i did tghis ages ago

i wanna live on after i die! they can have everything as far as im concerened. whether they want it... may be another matter...

and, much as we parents like not to think about these things, if it came to it, id donate all my dc's donatable bits too. id have to tbh. would feel wrong not to. for me.

Thanks for the link moondog. It's one of those things i have wanted to sign up to for ages - have told dh to donate all my bits!- but not got round to it.
All signed up and feeling good now!

IsabelWatchingItRainInMacondo · 10/08/2007 20:18

Actually Califrau, your DH should be ashamed of himself ,

Do you know that there is a segment in an otherwise nice population who claims the supremacy of their origin (in the racial aspect) on being O negative?, sadly the most fanatic segment of those who believe that have gone into terrorism (for other reasons but some are still proud of not mixing their blood). Nothing recent, have been going on for several decades now.

If it were just possible to delete own posts... have I killed the thread?

Signed up

Got my mum here tonight so she and the other
half have signed up too.

Am I right in thinking that soon it is going to be law that everyone in the country will automatically be an organ donor unless they sign up to opt out?
