For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

We had great trouble for a few weeks when ds was potty training

in the end we gave up on the toilet for poos altogether and just let him go in a nappy - that in itself was touch and go but it did take the scariness out of it for him eventually

It was Not A Good Time

Tatties · 29/07/2007 21:53

It's hard with ds because I talk to him about it but he's too young to really understand

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 22:00

Ds found it very scary and overwhelming, the sensation of poo dropping away (sorry if TMI)

it nearly finished us all off

I know this is the opposite of what is usually recommended, but if it is really causing big problems could you go back to nappies or at least pull ups? I have a friend whose dd got into the habit of withholding and it made their lives a total misery for such a long time

lionheart · 29/07/2007 22:02

Franny that looks really interesting. I have almost finished the book and will send it on shortly.

(The web person needs to check for typos, if I may be pedantic in a forest setting for a moment. It says IMPOTANT information and INTENTED instead of intended. I had to stop looking at that point because it was making me because the web site is lovely otherwise).

avi much, much sympathy -- have been there (and beyond) with DS. Horrible experience.

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 22:04

I expect branches were swaying in the wind and knocked their hands as they were typing

Tatties · 29/07/2007 22:07

Ds is still very much in nappies, not too interested in going on the toilet yet

lionheart · 29/07/2007 22:08

Yep, their minds were obviously on higher things.

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 22:08

Oh sorry Tatties

I completely misunderstood, sorry. It seems such a common thing for boys to get freaked out about it when they are first out of nappies, I assumed that was the case here. Poor you, I remember how very stressed and actually angry it made me when ds would hold on and refuse to go

TooTicky · 29/07/2007 22:09

Okay Franny, will do.

Dd2 has just been hugely sick in the bed - odd consistency, sort of white and foamy with lumps - omg, hope none of you are eating! Anyway, am wondering what will transpire - hoping it was just one big out-of-the-system sort of whoosh.

lionheart · 29/07/2007 22:10

Poo can be dead tricky, that's for sure.

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 22:10

good lord

sounds like one of the more attractive kinds of vomit really

hope she is ok

lionheart · 29/07/2007 22:13

lol Franny.

Poor little TooT.

TooTicky · 29/07/2007 22:18

Have emailed you Franny.

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 23:02

all emails to you getting bounced back TooT but I got yours fine

TooTicky · 29/07/2007 23:07

How odd. Ds2 wanted to know who I was emailing earlier, so I said "Franny". "Who's that?" he wanted to know. "Somebody I send messages to sometimes, " I said, "she's got a little boy". Ds2 considers, then, "Can we meet her one day? Then I can see her boy!"

3andnomore · 29/07/2007 23:12

aww poor totts ds...

and as for poos...ms has bad constipation and we still have issues now...although the movicol is helping, he still has loads of pants accidents...poor thing him...and poor me, too...

tried pt ys this week...but well didn't go so great, so, back in nappies for now....no point ended up all frustrated about it...and well, we didn't really go out anywhere this week because of it and that is a bit boring.

Well....had a melon and banana, and lots of carrots and peas....but probably will only work out to a total of 7 portions....
Exercise...well....I cleaned my bathroom today and we have floortiles which are a mare, if you mop the floor it still oooks manky, so, I was down on my hands and knees scrubbing it with a Washing up brush and some astonish, or whatever the stuff is called.... bloody hard work, I tell ya...floor looks nice though.
Ih and we played with ds's eyetoy for a while...that is pretty good exercise, lol!

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 23:17

LOL ds2 wanting to see my boy

he can look at the photos for now, I think I have left them up on picturetrail actually

will take down tomorrow

sorry to hear about poo troubles everywhere poor ds, 3andnomore

TooTicky · 29/07/2007 23:21

Ah yes, I remember, he did see those photos before - I must remind him. (Mum, who's that? That's Franny's little boy. Him is a fairy? )

TooTicky · 29/07/2007 23:22

Oh, hello 3 I never clean hard floors specifically, just wait until something gets spilt. Actually, that's quite often Still have grotty bits around the edges though

3andnomore · 29/07/2007 23:22

Frany the picture of your lil one looking at the bug is sooo lovely....he is such a cutie!

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 23:24

I know I know [joy]

I am a shocker I just wanted another excuse to put the link on here

greensleeves · 29/07/2007 23:30

my god I have seen those photos a couple of times before, but he just doesn't get any less beautiful, does he

I have actually done really poorly on the vegetable front today, I have been at a barbecue with a lovely lovely friend whose dietary standards are fucking appalling and whose life is so stressful/impecunious I would rather eat a whole shipment of Spam than offend her hospitality.

But I will eat loads of tomatoes and tangerines and bits of raw carrot tomorrow, because that's what's in the kitchen

TooTicky · 29/07/2007 23:33

Wow. I'm not sure I have a friend I would eat spam for

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 23:34

ditto TooT [awe] and [stands downwind]

FrannyandZooey · 29/07/2007 23:35

would anyone like to come and laugh at my glitter name on here? I think it is extremely good
