For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooTicky · 20/07/2007 13:10

I do appreciate the wonders of the natural world, I really do (Attenborough is lovely)

but I must admit I haven't really studied them too closely.

I don't really like to look at them at all tbh so I don't know about the feathers.

I should look, shouldn't I?

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 13:15

Do you hate all birds or just chickens? Let's not beat around the bush here.

OP posts:
lionheart · 20/07/2007 13:16

Just chickens, I think.

lionheart · 20/07/2007 13:17

I like owls.

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 13:18

fair enough

cos you know, if it was all birds, I would have had to Say Something

did I tell you we saw a pair of red kites the other week? I think I mentioned it to HC, once or twice

That is cool.

See also a thread I started a short while ago which I submit as evidence that I do not have a Hitchcock thing going on. Look.

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 13:26

Ooh, I love birds, me

we have a cormorant and baby coots and a woodpecker and stuff near us

and a heron and swans but the thing about the swans is too sad to talk about

OP posts:
lionheart · 20/07/2007 13:29
Sad
FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 13:33

sorry was twattish to mention it

have been wanting to post about it since it happened but it has just been too upsetting and I didn't want to upset other people as well

but rather than say that and nothing more, there were cygnets but they did not survive and it was people that did it

We have a healthy respect (bordering on hysteria) for the local swans. Ds1, when he was about 2, held out his hand to one and said "kiss kiss" and it bit him. Then, on his 3rd birthday, he was riding his brand new scooter by the canal when a swan took exception to it and we had to run and abandon it. Nice canal boat man rescued it as we watched fearfully from the bridge.

TooTicky · 20/07/2007 13:33

That's awful Franny

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 13:34

oh blimey yes they are ferociously strong and fierce

I love them but you have to keep your distance

OP posts:
FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 13:35

I know I'm sorry TooT

I really didn't mean to bring it up but having done so thought it was better to just say what I was on about

TooTicky · 20/07/2007 13:38

TooTicky · 20/07/2007 13:44

lionheart · 20/07/2007 13:44

That's awful.

greensleeves · 20/07/2007 14:56
