For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I feel a bit sick now.

We have had similar atrocities here, resulting in some kind of warden being allocated, I think, not sure how it works though, if it's round the clock?

Horrible horrible people.

BBBBasilisk · 20/07/2007 17:37

how horrid!

how is this weather for fruit and vegetables - not really salad inspiring is it?

I am making vegetable soup.

Hope the weather picks up soon, my sister is getting married in the morning.

Tell me about f&v.

Filchymindedvixen · 20/07/2007 17:41

I have had humous and red pesto salad with rocket, lettuce leaves, red peppers, olives and cucumber and a pomegranite and blueberry youghurt. I bought these from the new sarnie shop at the top of my road . It is fab! I live in an area densely populated by pizza/kebab takeaways, woeking en's clubs and the sort of newsagents where you have to order the Guardian on Saturday as there is no demand...so this is a very exciting development! I have had lots of chocolate brownies to celebrate the endof term with bioys and will be having goats cheese and spinach tart with baked spud and salad for dinner.
And it's raining. Again. Ho Hum.

lionheart · 20/07/2007 17:58

End of term here too and all rather soggy.

Have had sats, cuc, lettuce, peppers, and apple so far.

People are strange.

Malfoynomore · 20/07/2007 18:00

Franny how aful about thsoe swans...makes me so angry when people hurt animals....!
I love Owls, like someone else said on the thread already...last year we went to a fair at the local country park and there was someone with owls and they were really lovely, so beautyful and you could stroke them and hold them, got some lovely pics on the PC where my boys are holding them etc...they feel so lovely!
But lol at the whole chicken and poo thing...

Well, eating wise I had sicne posting last a banana an apple and a pear...but can't work out what I fancy eating for dinner...pondering with the idea of stuffed Peppers...hm.....
Just done a Workout DVD (Isabella's Power workout, which is 60 minutes, and quite good did it for the first time, only got the DVD yesterday and it was a good bargain

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:14

Am sorry, again

I have been brooding on it for 6 weeks since it happened, but had decided not to mention it

so then I go and say I am not mentioning it

classy

OP posts:
FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:17

Anyway

I am feeling quite a lot better

we had TONS of plums delivered, along with more crappy apples and some dicey looking apricots

must get dp to shop for veg tomorrow, I have Other Plans

(avoids mentioning what for fear of pissing off lionheart )

OP posts:
Malfoynomore · 20/07/2007 18:42

lol at teh crappy apples...not the kind you like then....
my favourites are Braeburn and Pink Lady....yum...
Well, decided against stuffed pepper as I looked into my freezer and found a portion of Midnight soup...which is kinda like chilli con carne...so, that will give me a portion of Baked Beans, tinned tomatoes, Kidney Beans and Pinto Beans....

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 18:43

3andnomore me too on the apples, those are my favourite standard kinds

but I would rather any interesting British apple at all than these crappy tasteless things from abroad

I am craving a nice crunchy apple

TaLcYo · 20/07/2007 18:46

....i'm still doing this......had a couple bad wagon wheel days admitedly...
Have noticed improvement with pmt...[not difficult!]

lionheart · 20/07/2007 18:51

What, what, WHAT?

Do tell.

lionheart · 20/07/2007 18:51

Midnight soup sounds divine (no idea what it is, of course).

lionheart · 20/07/2007 19:07

It's that bloody HP, ain't it?

Sheesh. What would Holden say?

TaLcYo · 20/07/2007 19:08

everything ok lionheart?

Malfoynomore · 20/07/2007 19:13

It's a simple recipe really, can't find the exact one, but basically you fry onion and Mince meat, then add a tin or two of Baked Beans and a tin of tomatoes, and I also tend to add other kind of beans like Kidney and Pinto and sometimes Flagelot etc...anyhting you have really, add some Tomatoe puree to taste and also spices like paprika, etc...

BBBBasilisk · 20/07/2007 19:19

oh I can only do crunchy apples so even braeburns get cooked up if they are more than a few days old - wooly apples are vile.

Midinihgt soup sounds good - would work without meat too I guess.

Malfoynomore · 20/07/2007 19:23

pretty sure it would. have done it with Quorn mince in the past, that was nice.

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 19:34

Aw, I would never listen to that old phony Holden anyway

OP posts:
lionheart · 20/07/2007 19:39

Sounds good, M.

Franny, I can't even think of what to say about it.

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 19:43

do you think we should get t-shirts printed?

"What Would Holden Do?"

lawks, we'd get lynched

OP posts:
lionheart · 20/07/2007 19:48

I think that's a very good idea.

(I bet you're all getting dressed up as wizards and all that, aren't you?)

FirenzeandZooey · 20/07/2007 19:49

no not me

ds too young to partake

I decided I would get it read quicker if I didn't stay up late tonight at HP party

am regretting not going to party in local castle though I must admit

OP posts:
lionheart · 20/07/2007 20:03

Must not get drawn in, must not get drawn in, must go and chase the chucks instead.

(Although, I do love the fact that Rowling's work has encouraged more boys to read).

TheChamberofCarrots · 20/07/2007 20:46

Dh has just taken ds1 to see the new film and they are getting hot chocolate after it before waiting for the new book. He is SO excited!

Lots of asparagus with dinner. That's about it, oh and raspberries.

Can you give me your opinion on my mouse/buggy dilemma, consensus is that it's fine but it could be that no weirdy/phobia/germ avoidant/OCD types like me have seen the thread. There must be some on here

mouse problem

lionheart · 20/07/2007 21:27

It sounds like you've done all you can.
