For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Sink plunger thread?

Raisins, pear, leek, mushrooms and onion in cheesey bake thing and onion, peppers and beans in chilli.

What can I do with canellini beans for dd (8m) tomorrow? Didn't have kidney beans for chilli so I used a tin of cannelini instead and saved some for dd but don't know what to do!

lionheart · 15/07/2007 21:02

This one.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 21:04

Oh I see - have posted on there already but didn't twig!

lionheart · 15/07/2007 21:06

I know what you mean about ethical consumption, (I love the bad choc, too).

I will give the vile stuff another chance, though, if it's simply a question of re-educating my corrupted taste-buds.

Will try it for sure. Thanks.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 21:30

Me too. I tried the coop orange centered one the other week. Quite nice I suppose.
How do you spell centre-ed?

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 21:30

I AM BACK

I missed you all terribly but managed to cry myself to sleep each night on HC's marvellous bosom

Have eaten loads of things at the food fest and some of them really quite vegetably. The best was a salad for lunch today with leaves, squash, eggs, olives (which I sensibly gave to ds), artichoke hearts, tomatoes, cucumber and a flower on the top, cooked in a solar powered van by hippies. Lovely.

BBB I didn't know you were so near, we could have come to annoy you.

I am really speechless at the idea that I have been needed on a sink plunger thread so I am going over there right now. This had better be good.

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 21:31

Oh avi I took the photos down but will put them back up for a bit if you are looking

harpsichordcuddler · 15/07/2007 21:31

Franny

we all miss you here

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 21:31

FRANNY! I thought you were never coming back!

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 21:36

God I think I shall go away every weekend if I get gratifying hoohah like this when I come back

TheChamberofCarrots · 15/07/2007 21:45

You are back! I thought you might be ill. I have been doing prairie re-enactments all by myself and only Toot will humour me.

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 21:48

not sure about tomahawk really

have decided I want to learn to drive a horse and cart, will that do?

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 21:48

and I did SAY I was going away

I SAID

"I will see you when I get back"

now I know no-one ever READS my posts just says "oh look there is Franny, oh good"

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 21:50

"when I get back" is a bit vague.

Just had a banana.

What about my beans anyone?

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 21:51

erm beans could you mash them perhaps with some lemon juice or cheese and put them on toast? [not really sure]

TheChamberofCarrots · 15/07/2007 21:54

It sounded like a day trip tbh, not that you can't go away without telling us of course

Tomahawk was for wild excitement rather than violence really, if you want to drive a horse and cart then that suits the old Laura Ingalls down to the ground!

TheChamberofCarrots · 15/07/2007 21:55

I recast myself as an indian for excitement

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 22:00

Well ok if I drive the cart past, with a big sunhat on will you arrange for some big men to jump out and accost me, so I can clutch my chest and cry "lawks a mercy"?

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 22:00

Thanks F&Z will probably mash with cheese. I find she gets toast all gunked up in the roof of her mouth though so I just break up little pieces of bread for her.

TheChamberofCarrots · 15/07/2007 22:06

How was the food festival anyway, sounds interesting?

FirenzeandZooey · 15/07/2007 22:17

Not ROB just a bit ACCOSTING pls

yes it was very jolly. HC pointed out it was far too large ie, everything was much too far apart so you had to walk miles to get anywhere. There were people thrusting freebies at you the moment you walked in which was fairly gratifiying. People were staggering home with carrier bags full of giveaway smoothies.

The activities were quite varied and lots of structured things to join in with alongside lots of general mucking about 'have a go churning butter' 'look at the baby water buffalo' type things. Ds and HC's dds wrecked a "identify the vegetables by touch" display. They just ran around waving leeks and shrieking for about half an hour. It was all very lovely. Oh and Raymond Blanc was there but I didn't get to see him because I was buying lunch for ds. I could have let dp do this but didn't trust him to bother finding something decent. HC scoffed.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 22:18

I've just had a peach then went to the freezer to get dd's milk out for when I go to work tomorrow night and I didn't have a Magnum!

TheChamberofCarrots · 15/07/2007 22:24

well, we might rob you anyway, seen as you are bound to have some maple syrup, a pat of butter and a home baked apple pie somewhere in that basket..

Festival sounds great. I don't think anything like that goes on around here that I know of. I sometimes think ds1 might like to go on one of these children's cookery weekends but they are horribly expensive.

Well done for resisting PSW, was it an almond one those were my favourites?
