For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Malfoynomore · 13/07/2007 23:28

had to "laugh" I meant of course...

ahundredtimeturners · 13/07/2007 23:29

Yes will do. We wouldn't do it either to be honest, but we're all very excited. Well dh isn't, he's dragging his feet a bit, thinking the vouchers look shifty, he keep saying things like 'how do we get from the airport to the hotel then?' in a rather aggressive way.

Dcs and me are ignoring him. Is best way. I like how random it is that we're doing this. I think we're going to laugh for two days, well me and dcs will if dh doesn't stop frowning. Dinner performaces look hilarious. A must I think.

TooTicky · 13/07/2007 23:32

I repeat

BBBBasilisk · 13/07/2007 23:38

ha - my dp and you dp woul dget along great in their grumpy skepitcal ways. I have had the exact 'transport' grilling and he is convinced we are going to be presented with a £121324324.00 bill at the end of it.

I am really excited though - will open up a whole new lease of holidaying life. Plus ds now thinks mumsnet is 'cool'.

ahundredtimeturners · 13/07/2007 23:41

They're jealous I think, because we WON it, all on our own and the dcs think we're cool. Hah. Sulky buggers.

Okay wil report back. Can't make head nor tail of the website. Don't understand the countries thing, a sort of minature village maybe? lol.

Sorry TT, we'll stop now. Is unseemly.

BBBBasilisk · 13/07/2007 23:46

avai - there was a link further down but she may have taken it off. Thread is really long now isn't it.

Why hve you got a headache?

I have had a coffee and some strawberries.

TheChamberofCarrots · 14/07/2007 09:37

perhaps as this is a health thread people talk about their health as well as food? It might be out of place or indeed self indulgent to say, I am feeling a little under par, on a complex discussion of politics or a vacuous sleb thread, though maybe then it would be welcome!

If you cast your eye back 100x, I said I felt dandy yesterday. You are looking for excuses to continue the coffee brie diet aren't you? You think we are all ill so you are better off with your old habits. Tut Tut.

MrsC, how on EARTH do you manage to feel even remotely full without bread?? Or do you eat complicated bread-free bread? I am finding bread is troubling me more and more - can just about tolerate a small amount of homemade bread but it is becoming inconvenient.
I suppose I can make rye/barley/buckwheat? bread? I am very of the xanthan gum and other oddities in shop breads.

TheChamberofCarrots · 14/07/2007 12:35

xanthum gum it's quite harmless I think, a plant celluose or something?

I am full because I eat a lot! I had rye bread for breakfast, The Village Bakery brand. It's pricey but I freeze it in batches of 2 or 3 slices. I eat a LOT of oatcakes though I think they're quite high in fat. Dinner is usually rice or potatoes or quinoi but anything during the day where you would normally have bread I have rye or oat things. Most of the bread is only nice thinly toasted I think, with either peanut butter or olive oil and salt for soup. Yum.

Dh is collecting dd from drama and bringing pasties for them and sushi for me! I always have salt and vinegar crisps with them too.

I am afraid the soy marg was covered with THICK green mould this morning, toast had just popped up and jam was open, so I a scrape of lurpak. Poor LO will probably suffer later. Bad mother. I will be strict all weekend.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 14/07/2007 16:45

I think I could manage without bread but dairy?! I just can't imagine life without Cadburys - I know MrsC says there are alternatives but...
Hope you guys enjoy your trips to Germany. Am also - I never win anything! However if I did my DH would be just the same! Grumpy Old Men them all!
Raisins and salad in sandwich today (raisins in branflakes not in sarnie!). Going to Pizza Express tonight. Might have salad, or something with veg on definitely dough balls as well though!

TheChamberofCarrots · 14/07/2007 17:09

You should try Booja Booja Hazelnut crunch truffles PSW

PinkPotterWeasleys · 14/07/2007 17:13

Sounds interesting Where would I find said truffles?

TheChamberofCarrots · 14/07/2007 17:15

though Cadburys own Green and Blacks of course,
so I might inadvertently eat some. How ethical are they, anyone know, I think they're owned by Coca cola aren't they?

TheChamberofCarrots · 14/07/2007 17:17

They have them in our green grocers, not sure what your local health/green shops are? You might find a stockists list here

TheChamberofCarrots · 14/07/2007 23:10

I expect 100 is having her bedtime coffee about now

PinkPotterWeasleys · 14/07/2007 23:12

It's been quiet on here this evening - is everyone out? I've just back from pizza express where I had a salad with mixed leaves, green beans, beetroot, roasted veg and avocado. We had olives and roasted tomatoes and I shared 2 starters with my friend - a tomato and mozarella salad and mushroom bruschetta (sp?). Yummy! Oh and banana in the banoffee pie. Most virtuous
Where is everyone?

PinkPotterWeasleys · 14/07/2007 23:12

Hello MrsC!
