For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TheChamberofCarrots · 14/07/2007 23:17

was wondering where F and Z was this evening, thought maybe she was too full from the food festival to log on!

PinkPotterWeasleys · 14/07/2007 23:32

Oh yes the food festival sounded lovely. You could have probably had my salad MrsC without the doughsticks and it was very nice

TooTicky · 14/07/2007 23:58

Cadbury's (or their suppliers) are very likely to be involved in child trafficking. Only fair trade is safe.

TooTicky · 15/07/2007 00:00

here is the Ethiscore report for chocolate

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 00:05

La la la la la I can't hear you

Please don't make me think about the ethics of it. I just want to eat my chocolate . Now I'll have to eat the posh stuff which doesn't taste as nice as cheapo cadburys and galaxy. Although I could just stop eating galaxy and nestle and stick with cadburys safe in the knowledge that it's 3rd from bottom and not the worst [hopeful emoticon]

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 00:06

Not that I eat Nestle...

TooTicky · 15/07/2007 00:12

The truth hurts Don't give money to the bastards.

I walked my dcs over 10 miles today

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 00:13

Where did you walk? That's far - how old are they?

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 00:14

The Coop do fair trade chocolate. I might try some of that.

TooTicky · 15/07/2007 00:19

Along the canal to the library. We got there 10 minutes before it closed
Dd1 (10) and ds1 (8) really enjoyed it. Ds2 (5) moaned a bit but shared the buggy with dd2 (2) who would happily have walked most of the way, but if she had we would still be out now. She did walk quite a bit though, but fairly slowly and some backwards

TooTicky · 15/07/2007 00:20

The co-op are quite good on some ethics. I think their washing liquids etc. are animal friendly.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 00:22

I didn't walk at all today (except to town from the car and back). I usually take dd out in the pram for at least half an hour but DH took her out twice today.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 00:23

Walking backwards lol!

TooTicky · 15/07/2007 00:25

Walking is easier in some places than others though. I do find it quite addictive. The more I walk, the more I want to walk. My legs start to pine if I can't.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 00:42

Walking is really boring in the village where I live - just loads of houses to look at. I do like walking though. Have you heard of the Nijmegen march? 100 miles in 4 days. I did it about 4 years ago.

TooTicky · 15/07/2007 10:37

Have just had porridge with raisins, honey, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

PSW, if you're in a village, do you have good countryside nearby for walking? 100 miles in 4 days sounds fantastic!!

yes, when you eat proper chocolate for a period of time, all the stuff you used to find delicious tastes like, well, brown candy or something.

PinkPotterWeasleys · 15/07/2007 12:30

But I don't wanna train myself out of eating things I like Ethics is hard
Come back from the prarie. It's far away and I can't join in because I'm not imaginitive enough.
No when I say village, it's been Barretted into a small town since we've been here and it's not countrysidey - villages and main roads on all sides. Mean to walk into town more - it's only an hour but I'm usually going for stuff and wouldn't fancy getting it all home up the hill!
Here's the Nijmegen March Amazing atmosphere! I did it through work with half a dozen disadvantaged teenagers which made it much more difficult than just walking!

TheChamberofCarrots · 15/07/2007 20:29

Oh all right then

No-one wants to play my prairie game (except Toot ) Where is Franny and 100 when it's time for high jinks, huh?

Ok then, salad, onions, peppers, apple, cabbage, green beans, 2 peaches, grapes, watermelon and kiwi.

lionheart · 15/07/2007 20:49

Franny is sorely needed on the sink plunger thread. I love the prairies and Laura and Nelly and all of that crowd.

Have stayed off the thread for a couple of days because I didn't want to add to the catalogue of ailments to be found round these here parts.
