God, I'm finding it hard to keeep up with this thread and my post natal one and all my lurking and actually run!
No running all weekend due to erection of new garden fence Reckon I've used some new muscles though!

glitterfairy · 09/07/2007 09:34

thanks VVVQV!

Am off for a run later after packing and not lurking on here idling away!

popsycal · 09/07/2007 09:45

Is it just me or are the rest of you guffawing at MRM's erection and using new muscles ;)

octo · 09/07/2007 09:48

Can I join? Was running before pg about 3-6 miles but have yet to venture back out - even bought a 3 wheeler jogger - so need some motivation to go!

mustrunmore · 09/07/2007 09:48

Cheeky

popsycal · 09/07/2007 09:49

liking the thread title btw

Veggiemummy · 09/07/2007 10:28

i giggled too hehehe erection hehehe glad i'm not the only one.

hi octo, i have a jogger too very handy hoping to go out in it today but still feeling shattered after weekend.

Veggiemummy · 09/07/2007 10:35

oh i mean out with it not in it, DS will be in it.

Veggiemummy · 09/07/2007 10:40

i haven't been lurking that much lately as most of the threads i looked at seem to end up withloads of ladies having fights, usually the sahm's v the wohm's and it can get quite nasty. maybe they all need to take up running.

glitterfairy · 09/07/2007 11:40

Off out no to deliver dds swimming costume to school (she forgot it this morning) am going on my bike!

shelly2kids · 09/07/2007 12:47

Hi evryone, hope you all had a good weekend at least the weather was good for running. Back to rain I hear so will need to buy a light waterproof jacket.

I usaully put off from going road running when it rains and tend to go to the gym and use the treadmill.

I am doing the Great North Run in September and need to up the anti a bit so does anyone know the best place to buy a decent waterproof jacket?

I have looked in JJB sports but didn't have much in. Would an ordianry kagool do the job do you think?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/07/2007 13:09

I thank you

Hello all, welcome octo & shelly. Octo your motivation is just to get going, once you've been out 2 or 3 times you'll get back into it.

Shelly - can't help with the waterproof - what about one of the running websites?

vvv - hurray for your noo shoos. Don't be impatient about the results! It will make a difference soon. But don't be tempted to go out too often .

veg - This & bootcamp are the only threads keeping my interest on mumsnet at the moment. There do seem to be a lot of people either trying very hard to take offence or being overtly controversial. And I've seen it all before here.

I have a cold, glands up in neck, very sore throat. So I'm glad I ran yesterday as that will probably be it for the week. Was going to do 6k tomorrow. (note the increase of 1k but I'm still not doing 10. No way).

glitterfairy · 09/07/2007 15:13

Hope you feel better soon duchess. I tend to have a few trusty thread faves and for the rest try and keep out. Where there is a joint interest it seems to work really well.

Went out on the bike and didnt get drenched and kept thinking it was hard work until on my way back noticed my front tyre was a little flat1!

Veggiemummy · 09/07/2007 15:31

decided to stay in and not go for run with DS as he doesn't seem to want a sleep this afternoon and is quite happy playing, managed to get 20mins of yoga in with DS trying to help me along for some of it. Then he was in the kitchen and gave me a little space which i was happy for until i realised he had been too quiet for too long when i went in he was helping himself to his teething remedy quietly but enthusiatically.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 09/07/2007 17:47

Hello - a Shiny New Thread.

Can't believe how quick we filled up the other.

popsycal · 09/07/2007 17:57

most of itwas me yabbering on about trainers and navel-gazing

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/07/2007 18:56

LOL Duchess, I wont overdo it...

I've been for a run this evening. I did 25 minutes on a slightly longer route. I did less 'spurts' of running, but each spurt was for longer. My legs felt buzzy and lighter than air after!!! Im hoping that is a good sign.

My shins are a bit sore this evening, but, I think it hasnt been helped by bashing them simultaneously on the car whilst wrestling DS into his car seat.

I wont run tomorrow, but I may well go for a swim. I really enjoyed that last week and it seemed to use some important muscle groups with seemingly little effort. (Sorry to keep bringing swimming on to the running thread )

popsycal · 09/07/2007 19:12

right
what am I supposed to be doing this week if my RFL is on Sunday. I know I need to reduce the length of runs.....
but the RFL training whatsit reckons i need to do a 25 min, a 20 min and a 15 min this week....
ANy advice?

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 09/07/2007 19:42

Tapering isn't necessary really for 5k but as you've been tired perhaps don't do anything after Wednesday/Thursday. That's my unqualified opinion

DoubleBluff · 09/07/2007 20:14

Gosh this thread is filling up quickly.
I went for a health check this mrning and am guted to find my body fat was 35%
I have been running on and off for a year. I have not losst weight but feel slimmer so as really surprised at such a high reading.
Feel like giving up. My friend who doesn't eercise at all was only 31%.
Really cheesed off.

DoubleBluff · 09/07/2007 20:15

Haha only judt noticed the spoonerism on title thread!

Dabbles · 09/07/2007 20:18

out of interest, whats a good time to be able to do 2 miles in?

DoubleBluff · 09/07/2007 20:46

Difficult to say Dabs as a beginner maybe aiming for 10 minute miles.
Then down to 9?
I am about 9 minute miling at the mo and can't seem to get any faster.
Must be all that fat I am carting around!

MingMingtheWonderPet · 09/07/2007 20:51

Doublebluff - how did they work out your body fat %?

Ran Friday night, need to go again, but have got netball x2 this week and it is looking unlikely. Maybe I should get to netball early and do a really amazing warm up and then I will be sorted!
