oh glitterfairy that is fantastic!!! What a lovely dad
Just been chat to my job share partner at work who is also doing RFl on Sunday (along with another friedn at work). We are getting all excited. They have been running way longer than me but are used to longer distances and they have a bet that I will come in before they do.

anyway
we have a plan

popsycal · 11/07/2007 19:57

duchess - my legs feel good. Tired but good and not at all painful. Thikning about it, I think it was a lack of stretching after Sunday's run. I went in the car and subsequently had to stretch back at the car in a residential area. I felt like a prat and didn't do half the stretching that I usually do. That will teach me

Blondilocks · 11/07/2007 20:09

I did RFL last yr & didn't run the whole distance non stop until the actual race. Had ran for months before, doing the run, walk briskly thing. It seemed much easier on the day.

I quite enjoy running, just haven't been doing it properly since May & consequently feel sooo unhealthy. (Previously went 3 times a week & stepped the other days).

have rickety knees that click, is that a bad sign, will I make them worse pounding pavements?

(popsycal - how is the sleep thing going? dd2 now in bed, not cot, and (fingers crossed) has gone ok since Sunday)

krispiecakes · 11/07/2007 20:27

doublebluff - now you could always cancel that weekend away and run a 10k instead!

glitterfairy - what a thoughtful, considerate dad!

well i managed to drag my ass out tonight and do 3 miles. i always find the hardest part is actually getting my kit on, once im out it's never actually THAT bad!

popsycal · 11/07/2007 20:28

This thread is so busy - it is great. I think that this new, improved weather helps

krispiecakes · 11/07/2007 20:28

Joined womens running (well walking to start with) network when DS was 7 months, still BF at that stage. Walked dialy for twenty mintues and tried not to snack. Was 13 stone, DS now 14 months and i am 10st 11lb, still a few to go. Target is 10st 4lb. Running is the thing.

DoubleBluff · 11/07/2007 20:36

This thread iis gathering pace.
Iread somewhere that the largest uptake in running has been mums in their thirties.
Love to keep up with the demographics me!
Running is so much better that sweaty gym classes. Am going for a long run tomorrow AM, when DS2 is in nursery - my treat of the week!

DoubleBluff · 11/07/2007 20:37

Weel done yellow poo.

saggermakersknockturnalley · 11/07/2007 20:38

I started in my 30's

Hello new peeps.

popsycal · 11/07/2007 20:38

I thinki mums in their thirties is popular for running (god - dreadful grammar!!!) as it is the most flexible thing and you realise you have to do something before it drops totally, never to return!!!!

Olive oil - now about the sleep...

oliveoil · 11/07/2007 20:39

am back, dh settled (which is a first as it is normally my presence required)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/07/2007 20:43

Hello new folks

I've only just started 'running' and am 31.

OO - i'm overweight (about 14st) and I have a right dodgy pelvis.

I think the key is a slow but steady start and my MOST important lesson so far - good running shoes.

popsycal · 11/07/2007 20:44

The sleep

well

DH tookd boys to his parents for 2 nights last weekend....

MIL - Mrs Purposeful 'I will get him sorted; I am really strict with boys when they are in my housel he should be On A Routine By Now; they have great table manners with me......' Woman.....decided she would sleep with ds2 over the 2 nights. He woke several times and she agrees he has sleep apnoea (she was a practice manager of a GP surgery and therefore thinks she had a medicine degree.....) BUT

he has been slightly better.

No evening waking since returning.....
Potters into our room at some point without me noticing around 2 ish then sleeps til abot 5ish at which point he is pretty much ready for the day.....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/07/2007 20:45

Oh, running is (apart from the shoes...lol) the cheapest and most convenient exercise. It right on your doorstep after all....... I think thats why it appeals.

Certainly did from my POV.

I went for a run this evening. I was getting quite twitchy about not having run for 48 hours

I run for longer periods again, and came back 3 mins earlier . NO pain in my shins. Loving it.
