For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello everyone, today I have had fruit juice, banana, grapes, avocado, and chilli for dinner with onion, tomato, courgette, green pepper, mushrooms (beautifully chopped by ds ), lentilles vertes and kidney beans. My mind's not really on this atm though, lots going on in my head so forgive me for being a bit uninspiring with f&v consumption.

NQC, I have sympathy with your manic thing - I think I know what you mean. If it is the same thing I get, I call it my anxious feeling, a really nervy feeling in my chest. I think I know what is at the root of mine too. It is not nice

FMV, yes we should swap numbers! Do you still have my email address (think I probably still have yours.) Ds loves dancing to Flat Eric too!

Avi I would like to discuss card making with toddlers, shall we move it to another thread? Hope everything is alright with you.

Hathor · 25/06/2007 19:45

First day of this madness. Almost eaten every f&v in the house.

1 apple, 1 banana, 1 beetroot, lentils, spinach, tomatoes, spring onions and chives, glass of juice, potatoes, nuts (if they count?).

....sounds like the Very Hungry Caterpillar.

now waiting for my wings to grow.

Avi I can help you resize your pics if you want. Can I nose in on the card thread if you have started it, please? One of ds's favourite things at the moment is "let's make someone a card, Mummy". Glad to hear dh wasn't shipwrecked.

Hathor excellent work. Sorry to break it to you though, that neither nuts nor potatoes count towards your 10 (for details of what does count, see links in OP). However you could count them towards your 26 natural foods. If you want to do that. But it all gets a bit complcated. I shall move swiftly on

Tatties I hope you are ok

I have been to the gym but didn't have time for loads. Have also eaten bowl of Lettuce From Our Garden, for a not terribly impressive total. Have great ambitions for tomorrow, though.

OP posts:
Hathor · 25/06/2007 20:54

Oh no, nuts and potatoes don't count!

FrannyandZooey · 25/06/2007 20:57

Hathor you did VERY WELL

don't be despondent

you can have 12 tomorrow to make up if you like

oh I ate some beans as well

am going to do natural foods count, in hopes it is better than I suspect:

oats, grapes, mango, melon, apple, banana, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, wheat, peanuts, tomato, mushroom, cucumber, beetroot, sharon fruit, lettuce, black-eyed beans (2 kinds, don't know names), erm and some of the trusty old cocoa bean

yes not 26

Avi, would you be a love and send those lovely wellies to Tatties please? Our great welly swap has turned into a great welly fiasco as I had promised her some size 8 Bob the Builders and can only find one...and size 26, I now realise, is size 8, so they wouldn't fit dd2 for ages anyway

fmv, please tell me more about calendula petals in buns - how many? And do you chop them? And how do you crystallise things?

MrsC, you are very kind but they would be really quite big atm

Franny or NQC or anybody who knows....how could I tell if I was being paid a fair price for my books?

I am up late making ratatouille and preparing fruit for tomorrow. And eating the most delicious cinnamon buns. Made 32, still think they will last less than 24 hours...

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 23:06

Oh, I have only just "got" this week's title. My brain just gets slower and slower.

talcy0 · 26/06/2007 00:01

....found you

a jamboree of bogstandard fruits
lots vegies in curry

=6

.....must go fruit &veg shopping

too many wagon wheels in the house.

Franny....hope your car gets sorted

NotQuiteCockney · 26/06/2007 06:13

Tatties mine is a lot like that. My underlying problem isn't horrible or anything (thankfully), it's just the old 'what on earth will I do with my life' chestnut.

I'm hoping that just facing that this is the problem will reduce it? We'll see. I slept ok last night - I'm up stupidly early, but then I went to bed stupidly early, too.

Ok, food-wise I did ok yesterday: Muesli (1), onion in lunch (1), four big bowls of salad at dinner (4), punnet of strawberries (1). Biking to and from school, along with the usual walking, for exercise.

My digestive tract still appears to be running on fast forward, though. I think I broke it.

sibble · 26/06/2007 06:19

hi all, fell off my perch of late so havn't been posting. The onset of winter here did it - have been making chocolate cake and indulging in chocolate bars for charity - the for charity beit redeems me I think. Anyway back on the fruit and veggie wagon of the past few days. So far today - satsumas, banana, kiwifruit, onions, garlic, chilli, 4 beans, tinned tomatoes (made soup for lunch). Not holding out much hope for dinner though, film festival at DS1's school followd by supper - my guess heaps of sausages rolls and pizza - maybe should just scrape the pizza topping off

Morning all

TooT have you got wellies on the way to you now then, or are you still stuck? I have lost track of what wellies are going where...

About the books, I would usually do it by going to a reputable dealer, preferably one that had been recommended to me. However if you don't know any dealers, that can be tricky. Would you like me to ask around? I don't know whereabouts you are but CAT me if you think I could help.

Hi again sibble, the film festival sounds intriguing - what is showing?

Talcy wagon wheels???

NQC glad you sound a bit more optimistic. I had no idea we were such an anxious lot. More power to you all in sorting it out.

Avi is the boat retrievable or not? Glad no-one was on it at least!
