For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Carrots definitely not too late - look for an Autumn crop one

not sure about all the rest, I am a novice at this but we have lettuces already! And carrots sprouting up with feathery bits on the top!

Tatties - shall we sawp mobile numbers for next time? The boys have already demanded that I bring them in the summer when they#re doing the ouutdoor beach thingy. And it's only an hour and 20 mins on train for us.

It was a last-minute decision (twas our anniversary and it was too wet to do any of the lovely outdoory things we had planned So hence our trip to halifax. It took 2 blummin hours to get there as the roads were awful
We then had a not-at-all-romantic family meal out in pizza hut, struggling to make ur declartations of undying love audible over the hyperactive screams of 200million over ice-creamed and under-parented little girls....!
(we normally spend this week in cornwall but couldn't affford it this year)

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 11:41

yup...have lots of herbs & grow cress inside & sprout seeds.....but ds would really love to grow more things he can eat.

Awwwwwwwww..thanks fmv...thats really sweet

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 11:42

Avi, if nobody needs those delightful balloon wellies now, and you really are fed up of tripping over them, then I would happily have them but priority to anybody who could use them now of course.

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 11:43

fmv....that made me

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 12:08

Oh, on the exercise front...I now have a paper round. 220 papers once a fortnight.

FrannyandZooey · 25/06/2007 12:12

TooT, you are genius, I never thought of a paper round

what time do you have to get up?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 25/06/2007 12:18

It's only the local free paper so doesn't have to be done early. Am hoping to rush through it though, so it seems financially worthwhile.

FrannyandZooey · 25/06/2007 12:23

Excellent, hope it helps

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 12:25

It's pennies really, but better that than no pennies

NotQuiteCockney · 25/06/2007 12:44

Ok, I'm on here now.

Have had muesli, and lunch was chicken fried rice with an onion in it. I'll have some gazpatcho in a minute.

I don't want too much F+V today, as I ate a giant bowl of salad last night, and a small punnet of blueberries, and a big bowl of cherries, and then felt quite unwell.

I will bike today to collect DS1.

Oh, and I am manic again. Or nervous or whatever the hell this is. It is No Fun, I can tell you that. Well, I'm getting better at riding it, and I will have to Do Something about it today. I think I have got some ideas about what's causing it, only dealing with it all scares the bejeezus out of me. Hence, presumably, me being manic.

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 12:49

NQC, does it help if you keep yourself busy so you are usefully manic? I get a little like this if visitors are expected and do a great deal of pacing and hand wringing. Different sort of breathing too.

Franny, may I ask your advice re selling a quantity of books? Where would be the best place to sell en masse (can't face ebay) ?

NotQuiteCockney · 25/06/2007 12:51

I think I will try to keep myself busier, yes.

(TT, how many books? You can get a book dealer to come take them away if there are loads. I've had some success selling on Amazon, which is easy to do listing, but hard in that you have to ship them all quite promptly.)

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 12:52

A good boxful of books, inc some lovely wildlife ones [sob]

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 13:04

Toot....why dont you list them on here....i'm a bookaholic ...so is ds...our place is heaving with them

MrsCarrot · 25/06/2007 14:01

Goodness me, this has been busy today!

Franny, we are not in Essex, so dh is not your Gym trainer , and I'm sure your ds looks just like you, you posted up a yummy mummy photo remember?

Not a good morning. Dh and I have been together for eleven years (only married 2 months) so we tried to have a breakfast at Loch Fyne with some wedding vouchers we have but they had stopped serving and didn't start for lunch for half an hour went somewhere else and couldn't get in with pram, got pi**ed off and said, gggrr, I'm going home and stomped off. Romantic eh? Poor dh, if I didn't know better I might think I had pmt, though I suppose it can start again at any time now? Had tuna on toast instead with token cucumber. Might have watermelon in a minute.

Toot- we have some size 24 wellies but they're probably too big even with socks? They're also revolting little mermaid ones, blue and green with yellow stars but you're very welcome. DD was most disappointed to grow out of them!

I'm sure I had something else to say but have forgotten.

MrsCarrot · 25/06/2007 14:05

remembered now..

there was nothing natural about that cake btw, it was a full on choc sponge with swiss roll, icing and siver balls. I don't tend to make healthy cakes for birthdays, but there were carrot sticks and grapes

very interesting about the calendular fmv, I might try that.

OrmIrian · 25/06/2007 14:08

Sorry - butting in to say that I love the thread title .

Cappuccino · 25/06/2007 14:46

god filthy I hate Eureka it is like some kind of hell

the shop looks as if it is being looted by four-year-olds

I went with the dds a while back on a pil visit (used to live near Halifax) and it was a very scary (and bloody expensive) experience

could not work out how it cost them that much to run; few of the displays have changed that much

franny the diet seems to be working or it could be the doc's Evil Pills. Whatever I am having the nurse check to see if the evil thrush is gone. Then I will celebrate with a banana and some of dd's blueberries whizzed up in my interminable portions of live yogurt

FrannyandZooey · 25/06/2007 16:27

NQC I am very sorry to hear that Please email if you want to offload in private. Is there anything we can do?

TooT I would agree with NQC - Amazon for any specialist / interesting ones, and a book dealer for a box full

or a book dealer / auction rooms for interesting ones as well, but I'm afraid I don't know much about selling wildlife books (which is a shame as I have about 50 of my grandmother's fab New Naturalists )

MrsC if you are sensitive to the weather then you will be feeling quite unpredictable at the moment I would think. All the children at my groups on Saturday were insane and the same thing happened today at the music group that ds goes to. Sorry you had a crap morning, anyway.

Thank you Orm

Capp I will keep fingers crossed for you. How long have you had it for now?

Have eaten banana, and sharon fruit.

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 25/06/2007 16:34

What Saturday groups do you run, Franny, treasure baskets? Perhaps it is the weather, it's very strange and sort of, gaspy?

Lo just grabbed my watermelon and managed to suck half the slice off before I could prise open his jaws! He's not meant to be having food for another month but I guess you could say that was baby led anyway

Hardly any fruit today but am going out tonight with a friend so I will order extra veg!

filthymindedvixen · 25/06/2007 16:35

Capp it was rather surreal; a piss-wet sunday afternoon I expected it to be heaving. Was almost empty. DH and I amused ourselves in the mixing booths and the funni mirrors and ds2 was breakdancing by himself in the vibrations booth to Flat Eric.
Ds1 found an amusing thingy where you could put sound effects to a cartoon. He found the fart noise.....

This weather is making me eat way too much stodge. All my enthusiasm for salad has wilted and I just want tea, toast and jam
