For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

lol...you made me avi....dont spend much time in the kitchen really...it's just simple quick food.
It was chilly this morning so fancied warm fruit...just simmer some sliced pears until softened & then blitz & pour over fruit.

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 09:59

Toot....must have missed the wellies discussion.......not much time for mn with my grandparents here.
What size are you looking for lovely?

filthymindedvixen · 25/06/2007 10:06

Welcome back Tatties, was thinking of you and hoping you were getting some quality weather (it has truly been rather grim up north...) F&Z will no doubt have linked you to her Smiths-inspired thread title by now.

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 10:46

Thank you Franny - I've already got some 8s a-waiting. But thanks for checking charity shops
Avi, 26 would be too big atm but the balloon wellies do sound extremely nice.
LL, we are sorely in need of size 4.5 (21). Unfortunately, half sizes are a little scarce.

Haven't really eaten anything yet.

Want to do gardening but the rain just isn't stopping and it will be far too muddy to do anything anyway. I think I have some harvestable spinach though.

Cappuccino · 25/06/2007 10:49

have had some houmous and about 7 mangetout

big salad for lunch

tbh today not great for veg as it is Supermarket Day tonight and have run out - am honestly finding it hard to manage this without fruit

(still on stupid anti-candida diet)

and btw if any of you drink barleycup - stop it. The stuff is bloody vile

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 10:50

at all of you growing your own veg....i dream of a veg patch...
we only have a roof terrace....have herbs & strawberries.....what else could we grow in a pot I wonder??????

Oh Toot...ds has enormous feet...he's 2.10 & a 9G!!!!!! I think he was born with size 4 feet & huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge hands!!!!

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 10:50

Franny, our "dining" table has 2 (!) enormous computer monitors, a newspaper, a jigsaw piece, 3 crayons, a library book, a box of pencils, a toy parrot, a doll, a paper bag, two drawings, another crayon, a wooden shape, a toy log, a box of crayons and another crayon.

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 10:51
Grin
TooTicky · 25/06/2007 10:52

LL, there are lots of things you can grow in pots.
Dd2 has tiddly feet - she was size 2.5 for ages and ages.

Cappuccino · 25/06/2007 10:53

ooh lullaby I am flirting with idea of growing strawberries in a pot

is it too hard? is it too late for this year?

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 10:56

ds runs out every morning to check if there is a ripe one to gobble...or if the birds have got their first...we have some in a hanging basket too.The wild strawberries have finished now but tasted amazing.

Tatties · 25/06/2007 10:56

Ooh a wellie swap, what a good idea! I am desperate for some for ds but can't find any cheap ones atm...

TTicky, I have some navy size 5/23 wellies you are very welcome to (not 4.5 I know but close?)

If anyone has some size 7 or 8 ones going spare for my ds I would be very interested.

FMV, it is nice to be missed And I can't believe you were at Eureka yesterday! I would have popped down to see you if I'd known. Weather is truly crap here today

So far had fruit juice and banana

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 10:56

Toot.....really?
Suggestions please then

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 10:57

Tatties, I have some size 8 Bob the Builder - do you want to do a swap?

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 10:59

Tatties...I have some size 8-9 blue croc wellies ds has just grown out of.Any good..or too big?

cedar12 · 25/06/2007 11:02

Can I join need a kick up the bum. Starting ivf this month and have been told to up my f&v so this thread sounds great. My dr also wants me to drink 2 litres water and 1 litre of milk a day! I will be peeing for britain. I cant stand milk I think I will be drinking a litre of hot chocolate
Cappuccino my mums strawberries have finished already this year.

Tatties · 25/06/2007 11:05

TT - that would be great, let's swap. I emailed you earlier this morning, so let me know your address when you reply and I'll get them to you asap

Lullabyloo thanks also, but 8-9 would probably be too big just now

TooTicky · 25/06/2007 11:17

Great Tatties. Now she will just need some (very) thick socks!!
LL, I will get back to you with suggestions - I know I have seen ideas on seed websites which I frequent (that is SEED websites, not SEEDY websites, just so there is no mistake

Cedar12, I'm sure you needn't drink all that milk. As a milk hater (and vegan!) I know there are other ways to get the nutrients. And traditionally, Japanese and Chinese people don't consume dairy products and are extremely healthy.

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 11:25

Thanks Toot & lol at seedy websites

Welcome purplemonkeydishwasher

I think cooking with fresh veg, whole grains and pulses is actually a very CHEAP way of cooking if you buy in bulk and use things like lentils, rice etc to fill yourselves up. Buying supermarket fruit and veg however is expensive (although frozen veg can be quite a good price and there is not usually any waste) Go to the market, or a greengrocers and you will find plentiful cheap things to eat.

Welcome cedar12, good luck with your IVF and drinking all that water. I think you will find you feel a lot healthier and that your skin and digestion are better - nice side effect

Hathor great start! Let us know how the rest of the day goes

Avi I thought of it before I went to sleep and then went to bed with a clear conscience. Can I help with photo thingy? I am crap at technology things but have kind of learnt how to do photos.

Lullaby I think it is because your healthy eating and healthy lifestyle just do NOT sound British . I thought you might be Californian or Australian maybe We are growing toms, lettuce, mini pumpkins and also carrots in our pots

Hello Boco, TooT, FMF

and > [joy]

Capp are you seeing any results with the diet?

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 11:31

Avi......gulp
My father & Grandfather had size 14 & 16 feet .....so am expecting ds to be around 6ft 7

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....we eat loads of courgettes & toms....is it too late now?
(complete dunce when it comes to gardening)

Lullabyloo · 25/06/2007 11:33

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh lettuce & carrots too .....getting quite excited now

filthymindedvixen · 25/06/2007 11:37

bit late now Lullabyloo for many things, but you can also grow lettuce/rocket/mizuna in pots very easily. (i'll see if I can dig out some spare seeds),. Many shops are selling tomato plants still.
And runner beans/french beans (stick some seeds in now, you might still have time) They will need some bamboo canes to clamber up. I have grown leeks in pots before now (Note: They take for ver and you need quite deep pots)
I have chilli peppers outside to catch lots o sunshine

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/06/2007 11:37

so it's not too late to plant stuff?

i'm doing ok this morning so far. i've had a banana, some raisins and a pear. going to lunch at a friend's and will probably have some sort of vegetably soup.
