For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Bloating, trapped wind and twisty growls are quite enough cause to be feeling melodramatic. I hope it isn't too rotten.

I am now getting a different error message.

DH is off on a corporate retreat, to shoot skeet, do indoor rock climbing, and archery. He's not a happy bunny, these are not his sorts of activities. Apparently he's supposed to have one of these every quarter! Can you imagine such a waste of time and money?

FrannyandZooey · 27/06/2007 20:37

what are skeet? are they endangered?

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 27/06/2007 20:37

What's shoot skeet?

NotQuiteCockney · 27/06/2007 20:41

Seriously? Here. Skeet are pieces of plastic or clay or something.

TooTicky · 27/06/2007 20:45

MrsC, we have a dill jungle. I could send you some but I don't know how it would travel.

Thanks Professor

MrsCarrot · 27/06/2007 20:48

A dill jungle, that sounds good. What else do you do with it?

NQC- I've never heard that term, thought it was just clay pigeon shooting

NotQuiteCockney · 27/06/2007 20:50

Frances, was about to snipe at you about not having answered re: Saturday, but see you have .

Yes, we can wait and see, I won't know until tomorrow or something anyway.

MrsCarrot · 27/06/2007 21:51

Forgot about the Berrytastic from the jaunty juice man, must have been a couple of portions in there, mind you juice only counts for one though doesn't it?

Toot- did you have any luck finding beads for your dd?

TooTicky · 27/06/2007 22:23

Dill steamed with new potatoes is just divine. Even better if you add carrots and young broad beans.

Beads...well, haven't actually got any yet. Am going to a Nice toy shop tomorrow and pinning many hopes upon them. Other than that I know ELC do some and their morals are not as bad as they could be. I'm a bit worried about ordering because of the postal strike, and dd2's birthday is on Sunday.

Apple, nectarine, tomatoes, cuc, red pepper, baked potatoes, olive oil, fried mushrooms. Chocolate and orange sticky saucy pudding.

MrsCarrot · 27/06/2007 22:28

Is there a strike?

My current affairs knowledge is non existent, well, I do know Tony Blair is not the PM!

Mmm, am going to have new potatoes with dill tomorrow,I think you are right, it will not survive the post well, but thanks anyway.

TooTicky · 27/06/2007 22:51

They are striking on Friday, from 3 am. I wonder if they get up specially to strike or if they just stay in bed...

NotQuiteCockney · 28/06/2007 08:19

I am eating more peas. I think there are cherries in the fridge, too. I bought lychees for DS1 (one child obsessed with lychees, the other with smoked mackerel ), but he didn't eat them, so maybe I'll get one of those.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2007 09:01

Am eating mango, raisins, kiwis (2), and peaches (2)

TooT I am meant to be emailing you, aren't I? Poke me if I forget again

slow walk to school
slow walk back from school.

Crap food intake reduced muchly since doing 10 fv

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2007 12:25

Ha HA now that is usually the side effect, but we don't mention that bit because people feel all deprived if they think we are trying to get them to give stuff up

mind you I am sure I had 10 yesterday and my word I still ate a lot of chocolate (I think I was feeling post-menstrual )

am eating carrot, cuc, tomato, celery and red pepper, with hummus

I'm drowning in charries and strawberries at the moment (home grown). There's only so many strawberry face masks my complexion can handle!

Does anyone one know how long you have to do stomach crunches for before one might see a difference/improvement...?

Professorfilthymindedvixen · 28/06/2007 12:41

Avi? Are you at all close to north yorkshire? (I have 2 forks)

if your oven breaks are you going to be cooking over a bonfire in the back garden?
