For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh no it's not really bodily stuff as such, I can do all that. It's just people talking about it. When I was little I used to go round to this girl's house for tea and her mother was always going on about having her period and her terrible cramps and all this, and it used to put me off my tea rather. And somehow I still find people talking about their periods vaguely nauseating. Every time I looked at this mother, I always imagined she was having her period, and it's not really something you want to think about I think. By the way, she had very dry hair too, sort of wispy and run away.

menstrual fluid makes a wonderfully nourishing base for a hair conditioner...

100x, please do not visit North America. Women you do not know will talk to you about their period in public loos. I do not know why. It is quite irritating. (I want to say vexing, which is probably the fault of the book I'm reading ...)

Frances, dunno what's up with my emails, what sort of bounce is it?

ahundredtimes · 27/06/2007 20:14

Do they really? What is it with this compulsion to share such a thing? Is it a sort of 'reclaiming' thing do you think? I shan't go, no. And if I ever do I shall go to great lengths to avoid public loos. Thank you for the tip.

NotQuiteCockney · 27/06/2007 20:15

Ok, my email is broken, it's not your email's fault. Both [email protected] or [email protected] bounce.

FrannyandZooey · 27/06/2007 20:16

unrouteable address NQC

They really really do. I mean, I'm sure not all of them do, so it won't happen every time you go to the loo, but they do tell you, 'gosh, I'm having dreadful cramps' or similar. They don't start describing clots, so it could be worse I guess.

(Ha, one of my friends back home went through a brief bizarre phase of talking about his toilet visits, the structure of the poo, etc etc. It was quite charming in an insane way. He met a beau of mine for the first time, while in this phase, shook hands, and said 'sorry, my hands are wet, it's pee'. He wan't kidding.

Actually, I have lots of insane stories about this friend.)

Tatties · 27/06/2007 20:18

Ooh I love talking about periods.

And oi, FMV, aren't you forgetting someone, hmm?

NotQuiteCockney · 27/06/2007 20:18

Ok, the address that does work is [email protected]. That always works, and I'm on there now.

Oh, I think our plans for Saturday may have fallen through. I will know for sure tonight I think? We were meant to have comp tickets to a play in Richmond or somewhere, but maybe we don't. We might want to lie still, or maybe we'll be up for a trip ... are you still around, so I know if it's an option?

NotQuiteCockney · 27/06/2007 20:19

There was a great mini comic that a friend did back home, mocking the pad adverts with the pale blue liquid ... and doing an alternative version with a tin of chopped tomatoes. It was lovely.

MrsCarrot · 27/06/2007 20:22

Hmm, was less interested in the gossip in the sense of bitchiness and individuals, more intrigued at the idea of lots of women meeting who've never seen each other in person, and it not going well, and what it's then like to return to the screen. Hard to separate the two maybe, so ANYWAY...

Dh is in Bristol tonight, got dc's to bed, sat down with enormous glass of wine for dinner and remarked to my self how exceptionally delicious the felafels were this evening, mmm, quite the nicest I've ever had, why haven't I bought Marks and Spencers felafels before, I am always going to buy them from now on, my they are tasty

Then I became suspicious, and I checked the label, and sure enough, they are 23% chickpeas, the rest is a delicious mix of broad bean and wheat with a nice coating of breadcrumbs and a little splash of yeast. So there I am am looking at my tasty dinner, absolutely starving so I stuffed the lot, along with artichoke corn on the cob, raw cabbage, red onion and more lentil houmous.
I have NEVER seen a felafel with wheat in before, how annoying, I am bound to be contorted in agony later and LO' excema will sprout all over the place. Sigh.

Had a delicious bowl of cherries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries after though, and there are cherries in my chocolate.

Epic post. Sorry.

FrannyandZooey · 27/06/2007 20:22

Ah, I really don't know yet myself NQC

we might still be around, but if we get our car back in time and the weather is ok, we are going to this little festival

maybe discuss it on the day itself, or is that leaving things far too late?

oh MrsC I am very sorry indeed to hear that

will you really feel dreadful?

Oh ugh, I hate random weird ingredients.

In my experience, MrsC, from four net communities now, when I've met up with people in real life, if I got on with them well online, I get on with them well in person. If we were a bit 'hmmm' online, we're still 'hmmm' in person. It really is pretty reliable, so much so that I have invited a few friends that I only knew from online to stay with me (no carnal intent), and it was always fine.

Ha! I thought you were kidding about the menstrual blood. Surely grease, not protein, is what you want in a conditioner?

NotQuiteCockney · 27/06/2007 20:27

(Oh, DS2 has developped a weird fixation on smoked mackerel. Weird weird weirdy weird.)

MrsCarrot · 27/06/2007 20:27

Thank you, Franny, I am being slightly melodramatic but please indulge me.

I expect it will just be bloating, trapped wind and some twisty growls, it's just so annoying when you're eating something that shouldn't have it in rather than thinking, oh stuff it, I will have a cake ifswim, and then suffer the consequences.

Thanks everyone else too, I just hope it doesn't trigger the IBS as that can take a week or so to settle

NQC- that is very interesting, I'm fairly new to online chatting, it's hard to eqate real people with the little people I imagine inside my laptop.
