desperate fag quitter! Anyone similar, fancy mutual support group?!

To my shame it's about my 167th attempt to quit fags... anyone out there trying the same who would like to start a support thingie here where we can rant and vent our frustrations and praise each other? I'm starting tomorrow...

Sent Dp up the shop for chewing gum and an alcopop...been playing Wallace and Gromit on the PS2 which has really stressed me out and I could really...sniff...do with a fag.
Not going to have one, of course, and even though we still have some weed I dont think ill be having one of those either.
When you have a shoulder clenching, all over body urge what do you do? I tend to come here and rant...deep breathing etc. What other suggestions do you have.
Talking of food, im a vegetarian and I have been since I was 9 and I used to love burgers and ribs and lamb chops the whole lot, and I have never ever had a meat madness craving, I have drooled over kebabs, but no comparison to this all consuming sensation the quitting fags does to you.
Its mad. Ive often thought, my gawd, if you can go without a KFC for 16 years im sure as hell you can stay off the fags....only time will tell.
Whats stopping you from having a fag?
Whats stopping me is the thought of entering that black doomy hole where your smoking and you dont want to be but you cant find the energy to stop, and everymorning you get up thinking, tommorow, ill do it tommorow, and you know youve been thinking it for a fortnight already!

And on the subject of mils and beds and the likes, one of my most cringeworthy moments was when dps mum barged into his room when we were...cough.. at it, me on top.
Got dressed, went downstairs to apologise and she said before i could say anything...ooohh I didnt know you had a tattoo there...

LOL, that is a worst nightmare! cannot beat that i'm afraid!

i come up here when i need a fag and even if no-one else is on at the time, it reminds me of what we're all trying to do! i usually stamp my feet and dh laughs at me and says 'NO!' :(

i think what stops me is a)having to tell you guys b) having to admit it to myself c)having to go through the v. hard first step of DECIDING to give up and wrestle with my conscience.

tbh i try ot think of the kids, but as i haven't ever had a sam and dex moment, they don't really spur me on which is, i know, quite sad. i think it's just the personal feeling of 'failing' that gets me going. i know how you feel tho, could murder a puff right now. a chilled drink also sounds lush but there's nowt in the house and dh has already had a shower so no chance there. that curry's made me really thirsty!

I hope your talking about the kids party MM!!!! Didnt go as an animal, I had a monkey invite and dp had a elephant one, and there were jungle animals dotted round to make it jungly. We danced to the tweenies, played musical chairs and statues, simon says and had some sarnies, juice with straws and some cheese shapes. Great fun

didn't finish monster as dh fell asleep! he always does that when it's not his film choice anyway got to the horrible scene near the beginning with her first murder. Eurggghhh! Will watch the rest tomorrow.

You were right MM it is a nice day, my poor washings been hanging out in the rain for days, maybe today it will get a chance to dry.
Monsters not tooooo bad, after the first one you get used to it, its good honest, persevere!
Dp does that too, the falling asleep thing, its especially annoying when its something scary that you wouldnt watch on your own, and you have to stop it because they have fell asleep..or it that just me?!

actually dh is the scaredy cat and uses a cushion to hide behind :) it's just annoying when you want to spend time with him and he ends up in sleepyland and you're on your tod watching tv on your own. especially when you've seen no adults during the day...

Had a lovely time thanks, we watched it get dark from the top of ther hill and drank cans of stella (classy!!) Lovely to have acres of time to chat - but dd cried and cried (even tho b'sitter has known her since birth) and I'd left my bleedin' mobile at home. BAD BAD MOTHER.

My major wobbly moment re fags was sitting opp dh in pub when he was smoking. I just kept staring at the packet. BUT I didn't crack prob because the pub was so so smokey - faggy pubs never used to bother me but I was much more aware of it, and stench of it in hair this morning - stinky! And you know what I thought of? That lovely orange coloured gazelle!!!

me and dh also had quite an honest conversation about me feeling loaded with all housework, laundry etc and he seemed to understand & did not get defensive (unusual!), says he will contribute more! ie, help!

God girls, I still crave madly too, and am v shouting with children sometimes & hate myself for it - emotional too, very quick to cry. As you know I've had a few lapses which haven't helped as there is prob some niccy still in my system.

This is what I do:
Deep, deep breaths
Slather on mm's oils (still got some thanks mm!) and snort b. pepper oil
Nibble oatcakes & stinky food
come on here and rant of course
think about running/forthcoming race or go running
steam into tedious household task
clean teeth
chomp fruit
have bath
get dh to massage shoulders
focus on playing with children

still bloody hard tho isn't it!! Oh girls, I would so love to never have to go through this again (bad sentence!). I would love to feel completely free & certainly don't yet...

will check out those anchovies when next in glasgow mm as there's a sainsburys there! Pongo breath ahoy!

laughed so much at the being caught at it cc, esp the tattoo line... my embarrassing one is my son shouting (at dinner table with my mum and mil present): 'MUMMY HAS A THING IN HER THAT STOPS HER HAVING AN MORE BABIES.'

You were very strong to be sitting opposite dh with him smoking and you resisting. Its like laying your life on the table that one and you are sosososososos tempted, but if you resist, that just shows how commited and how strong you are.

Hoovering is GOOD! release those energies and pent-up frustrations. i'm supposed to be finishing monster tonight but have not even had dinner yet...been a long day! dh just got called into work (retail) because something's happened at the shop :( will go and find something to eat now and maybe just end up drinking instead. This Thursday yep! Summer Holidays consisted of 3 weeks of to hot to go out, 2 weeks of rain and 2 weeks of dps being home...cant wait till next year lol!!!
I am looking forward to getting back into a routine even if it is one that involves me spending the days trapsing around picking up and dropping off kids all day. Tasha starts at 8.55, Tanya at 9.30, have to pick Tanya back up at 1 if im not working then Tasha at 3.15 and then if Tasha has swimming its 6.00 swimming..or dropping off at friends house..or party...hate it really, but its been a long pyjama party this holiday so looking forward to some normalness!

no, it's their house. we live in a standard semi and they are on the corner with their detached which was refurbished before they moved in by the builder family who lived there before. hence it's huge. i find entertainers quite disturbing actually and don't know what to do when they come up to me!! how do you fake laughter i'm crap at it!!!

hi minkmama, non smoking is good-ish. i have not smoked since the day I gave up, but have been so sorely tempted. Yesterday i got some awful news that made me so sad and on top of that you may have seen my other thread about ds toy making life tricky atm, feeling stressed and down.....telling myself that fags will not help but still want one......feel so stupid but its the way it is may as well be honest.

yes, seems so trivial compared to other things atm but it really is upsetting for all of us, comfort toy he has had for four years, see "please look at this" thread we are having sleepless nights and he is very distressed through the day, trying to find a replacement but Ikea do not make them anymore! Hoping somone on mn might have one......

oh have just read it midden...POOR YOU!!! I reeeeaaally feel for you here as ds1 also has a comfort toy - a mangled rabbit which we have bought substitutes for but unfortunately it is handmade, therefore subs look nothing like the REAL one. if we ever lose it i will start smoking again girls, there is nothing that scares me more!!! (only joking midden, you've done SOOOO well to keep off esp.with feeling down about other stuff)

Dont feel stupid! We have all felt, my gawd, the whole spectrum of things in the last few weeks, elated, humiliated, defeated, strong, tearful, bloody dreadful. You are doing well!!! Put a link on for your ds's toy thread...havent saw it.
