I have been working myself up slowly to a much needed detox for too long now.

I really am abusing my body by

Drinking at least half a bottle of wine 5 nights a week

Smoking too much and mostly in secret !

Eating crap when the kids are in bed

Not making time for exercise and not swimming which i love because have usually downed a glass of wine with dinner !

Does anybody else want to join me for a full 7 day fag free wine free junk food free lots of water horrible horrible week-at the end of which we will shine from the inside out and feel somewhat marvellous !

Oooooooh me too Missus!

babygrand · 14/05/2007 14:59

I'm sure my body could do with a detox, but I just haven't got the willpower. And as for only drinking 5 days a week, I think you're doing very well.

noddyholder · 14/05/2007 15:01

Am very suspicious of counsellors myself!Although I know a lot of people find it helpful but wouldn't go near jim davison either! I find it difficult to think of paying someone to tell me something I already know deep down but just haven't admitted

moondog · 14/05/2007 15:09

Quite Noddy.

kazzia · 14/05/2007 16:07

Moondog - PMSL at Jim D. Not surprising with the amount of water I've been drinking.

lightningsal · 14/05/2007 16:44

I am joining you with the inner cleanse!!
Wine, particularly NZ sauv. blanc is my achilles heel. A week off sounds like an idea. (not a good idea, but more a necessary one!!)
I know what my triggering factor is, bath and bed time with 3yr old DS, after a day of not being able to finish ANYTHING, countless distractions and a brain that is screaming for some time-out!
Ideas how to manage that without the help of wine would be gratefully received. Not counselling.
Bye for now

noddyholder · 14/05/2007 16:45

Can't stop weeing!Great

MrMariella · 14/05/2007 17:31

Today, I have been largely drinking biggly watered-down fruit juices (1:12 or so - dislike the taste of water..) plus 3 portions so far....still feeling rather chipper, and yes, never far from a wee stop!

After some consdieration, am choosing to demur from the J.D. option.....

hellobello · 14/05/2007 18:09

Ooh er, yes! I think I'd give JD a miss too. No terrible jokes then!! I've got gallons of fizzy water to get through then I can fill the bottles with elderflower champagne. I don't think it's alchoholic. It can't be! We were always drinking it as kids. I don't think 2.5 bottles of wine a week is particularly much either. I'd like to go for a whole week without a drink. I think my bod needs it. Just had a nicotine pill though, and it was foul.

kazzia · 14/05/2007 18:25

Have got through kids tea without eating anything - usually eat half their left overs although tonight it was salad and falafel so not unhealthy.

Agree with LS re bathtime wine trigger - sending you moral support as prepare to do battle with my 2 & 5 y/o.

kazzia · 14/05/2007 19:18

3 portions of what is making you feel chipper Mr M?

MrMariella · 14/05/2007 19:42

TALCY!

just seen the crisps comment!! .

is this some kind of special de-tox plan you are following???

lightningsal · 14/05/2007 20:22

Thanks Kaz, did you get through it unscathed? DS asleep at this end, just DD (8yo) who is relitively human still at this time of night, to go. Not a drop of wine in sight, full of gas from fizzy water, only thing to worry about is the acid stripping the enamel off....woe!!
What nice treaty non alcoholc drinks are there? Any suggestions anybody?

hellobello · 14/05/2007 20:36

This time of year - elderflower champagne! It's just water and a few lemons and sugar and some heads of elderflower and a drop of vinegar, but I'm not sure of the proportions. It's seriously good, but everything has to be really clean or it goes gloppy and horrible. last year I only made a gallon, forgetting that it was only 8 pints. Durrr! There's a really good website for non alcoholic drinks. There's lots of really good stuff out there! Fizzy water for me too tonight. Dh is going to France at the end of the week to get wine. DD has a christening in a couple of weeks, and I am going to have to cook like fury as we have hardly any money so it's cheaper to cook from home. I've already made industrial quantities of tomato sauce. I am not looking forward to kneading all that dough - does anyone want to burn off some energy and bash some bread?!

MrMariella · 14/05/2007 20:39

lightning..no non-alcs to offer..most I remember taste vile, and drives you to fruit juices anyway....

flakeblonde...show yourself!!

portions and feeling chipper? That's between me and my conscionce. And my legal team..

MrMariella · 14/05/2007 20:40

and my spelling team...

talcydoesjacksparrow · 14/05/2007 20:44

Was doing really well

Then got in from work and spotted crisps

and wagon wheel

Wiil try harder tommorow

lightningsal · 14/05/2007 20:50

Anyone else enjoying the jiggling peperoni pizza, right of screen?
Need a dancing celery stick really....

MrM, you confirmed my worst fears, there really is nothing to compare to the sauv. blanc. Aaaaah, water water everywhere, and every drop to drink.

lightningsal · 14/05/2007 20:50

Its gone, it was there, really it was.

MrMariella · 14/05/2007 20:51

Hmm..it's planning isn't it??

To make these changes one needs to plan and prepare..like...moving the tempters that are wagon wheels (albeit smaller than they used to be..) and fried potatoes with preservatives smeared all over them...

talcydoesjacksparrow · 14/05/2007 20:52

Yes...there was food right at the top earlier.
I blame my lapse on that!

MrMariella · 14/05/2007 21:18

of course it was lightnin'..now quit the delusions and focus!

talcydoesjacksparrow · 14/05/2007 21:23

Xposted

Wagonwheel was yuck anyway!

Must develop some willpower

lightningsal · 14/05/2007 21:34

Right, back to work now. Babes in bed, bills to pay. Got to explain lack of funds in bank to myself.
Night all, well done all(except the wagon wheel), another day to conquer tomorrow.
