Girls, generally, say 18-21 year olds, labia size and no pubic hair? Normal? Picture attached. Warning.

I'm sorry for asking this question. I just wondered.
Have recently seen a few clips from tv show 'Naked Attraction'.
I know its not everyone's cup of tea. Quite contentious.

Not of much interest to me either really.
But I was quite fascinated by all the girls. Young, pretty, lovely.

But they all had very very neat labia. none hanging down.
AND they all had no pubic hair at all. Not even a French with a small strip of pubic hair.
All completely hair free.

So, is very neat? AND no pubic hair, completely the norm, these days?

Will our teenage boys, encounter this, as the norm?

I attach a picture, of which I just googled, just to show how neat and tight and firm all the labia on the show looked. Hope its not offensive.

MNHQ have contacted me about this thread. Suggesting it be moved to the sex topic, which is of course fine.
I didn't know which section to ask this in.

And some people questioned my intentions.
That's fine too. I didn't mean to offend. I was genuinely asking.

Or it can be deleted if too many posters think it should be.

I'll leave it to MNHQ.

I think your post and the photos is kind of weird.

Women come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. have large inner labia is how some women ARE. It's nothing to do with being 'the norm' any more than a man with a large (or small) penis is 'the norm'.
Women don't CHOOSE to have large or small labia (unless they have had surgery to make them smaller.)

There are numerous threads on Style&Beauty about pubic topiary . It would appear that younger women remove it- that's the 'fashion' but old crones like me sport a full bush and always have.

Ttbb · 13/09/2017 15:55

Sorry but I am a little bit in shock. I have never seen female genitalia completely sans pubic hair and dear god does that look weird. Surely mind don't look like that under all that hair? On the note of young girls and their nether regions. No, not all young girls wax it all off, some do, some don't, it's more of a thing with slightly older women who were young at the peak of the Brazilian before it became associated with porn (you have to remember that only a certain kind of person would go on a show like this). As for labia minora hanging out I'm pretty sure that most people have labia minors that are smaller than outer labia (before birth anyway) so it's not a plastic surgery thing if that is what yo are getting at.

Crashbangwhatausername · 13/09/2017 15:57

All completely normal but porn has meant that labiaplasty and hair removal is big business and many girls/women feel pressure to look like the women in the porn.

RyanStartedTheFire · 13/09/2017 15:57

Is the labia on the left common? Sorry if that's offensive, I'd have thought that was on the more rare side.

Never mind the labia why is there only three legs?

Why is there three legs and two vulvas?

Why?

PollyPerky · 13/09/2017 16:02

The ones on the left are ,as far as I know , to the extreme of length. This is the sort of thing that women have surgery for because they are uncomfortable, make it hard to wear tight trousers and just get in the way.

Labia, like boobs, grow at puberty. Some grow a lot, others not so much.

The 'norm' of the inner labia is anything, but the AVERAGE is most probably somewhere in between these two, with some not showing at all and others showing a little.
It's also perfectly normal to have labia that are different sizes (right and left.)

titchy · 13/09/2017 16:04

Inner labia don't tend to hang down unless you've had children. Which most young women on Naked Attraction won't have had.

A lot, maybe the majority, of young women remove pubes.

PollyPerky · 13/09/2017 16:04

It's 2 photos merged together. Look carefully at the writing of the 2nd word. You can see a line between the l and the a. The skin is different too.

PollyPerky · 13/09/2017 16:05

Inner labia don't tend to hang down unless you've had children.

No. it's got nothing to do with having children.

Mine didn't change after having DCs. Did yours?

BruceAndNoush · 13/09/2017 16:05

Do you mean women?

I don't know any girls who are 21 or 18.

RyanStartedTheFire · 13/09/2017 16:06

Mine didn't change after children either.

Oblomov17 · 13/09/2017 16:09

I didn't mean to shock. Or offend.

Two posters said the ones on the left, were very long.

But I kind of assumed that the long ones were the norm.

I assumed, The on the right, the small, neat ones were more sought after, but not the norm.

But when you watch this programme. All the girls have neat, ones on the right, no hair at all.

Which is why I was asking.

This artist worked on a very famous piece making casts of women's genitals. The images make fascinating viewing if you are not aware that they come in all shapes and sizes. The images are of the casts.

Oblomov17 · 13/09/2017 16:12

Sorry. Yes women. Women on this kind of show. Women of that generation. Women who go on dates with these kind of men.

Who all have no public hair. They all talked about it, as if it was totally the norm to not have any.

All the men are very specific in what shape and size they find attractive.

THAT was what shocked me.

OP posts:
fertilitykate · 13/09/2017 16:17

I am 50. I have a completely hairless foof, 5 kids and the neatest labia. Sex is indescribably better hairless. Off the scale....

PollyPerky · 13/09/2017 16:17

Very long labia are not the norm. Are yours OP? Is this why you are asking? Very long labia are uncomfortable as you can imagine.

When women are post menopause the inner labia shrink in many cases and can almost disappear altogether. Just so you know.

The women on the show may be pressurised into shaving so they are all the same. And the men are probably being told or at least led on what to say- some of it will be scripted, like Blind Date used to be.

Are you a guy OP? Just asking because there are always threads on Mumsnet about pubic hair and whether to keep it or not. If you are a regular here I'm surprised you've missed them!

steppemum · 13/09/2017 16:23

well I would have thought the ones on the left were unsual, in that I had assumed (perhaps wrongly) that inner labia were normally tucked inside the outer labia.

In fact after childbirth when my inner ones were a bit more saggy Blush they did 'catch' and were uncomfortable when walking etc. They eventually sorted themselves out.

Oblomov17 · 13/09/2017 16:25

Not particularly. No!! Grin
But maybe not as pert as some on that tv programme. Plus I do have a small amount of pubic hair.
Mind you, none of me, beware, 2 cs overhangs, are quite as pert as they once were!!

I think it was just this weeks programme that shocked me.
The man choosing was very graphic and detailed about what shapes, he found attractive.

It just opened my eyes to what the current generation consider. I felt very old. None of that stuff had ever crossed my mind.

And I guess it made me sad that this will be what my teenage ds's soon encounter.

OP posts:
Oblomov17 · 13/09/2017 16:27

So sorry if I've missed them Polly.
Will investigate. Been here for over a decade, so I suppose I should have seen such a thread at some point.

Kind of ashamed I haven't.

OP posts:
AnchorDownDeepBreath · 13/09/2017 16:28

I'm 27. Of all the labia I've seen; they've looked a lot more like the one on the right - and yes, most are hairless or at least very neatly trimmed. My experience would suggest that the one on the left is unusual.

That said, even the one on the right looks "flappy" to me, compared to myself, so I suspect it's highly personal and there's probably a huge mix despite our differing personal experiences.

SuzukiLi · 13/09/2017 16:28

Mine haven't changed since child birth!

titchy · 13/09/2017 16:55

Mine did...Blush
