Girls, generally, say 18-21 year olds, labia size and no pubic hair? Normal? Picture attached. Warning.

I'm sorry for asking this question. I just wondered.
Have recently seen a few clips from tv show 'Naked Attraction'.
I know its not everyone's cup of tea. Quite contentious.

Not of much interest to me either really.
But I was quite fascinated by all the girls. Young, pretty, lovely.

But they all had very very neat labia. none hanging down.
AND they all had no pubic hair at all. Not even a French with a small strip of pubic hair.
All completely hair free.

So, is very neat? AND no pubic hair, completely the norm, these days?

Will our teenage boys, encounter this, as the norm?

I attach a picture, of which I just googled, just to show how neat and tight and firm all the labia on the show looked. Hope its not offensive.

This is a gallery of normal labia.

Oblomov17 · 14/09/2017 10:44

I had no idea it was a before and after shot.
I simply googled labia size. There aren't THAT many pictures.
Maybe I shouldn't have attached a photo.

Maybe I should have started, saying that I had watched naked attraction and was more interested/shocked by the lack of public hair. And asking if it was the norm, for older teenagers and young women.

But please don't turn this into something it's not.

I can't keep apologising.

I hate how MN threads keep being deleted. But is that what you want me to do? To ask MNHQ ? Hmm

"On reflection, having posted a few times here, I think it's bad that the OP didn't make it clear these were 'before and after' shots. "

How was I supposed to do that?
When I myself didn't realise?

How many posts? Until one poster suggested it was a before and after photo?
Quite a few.
I didn't know. Hadn't known before.

I'm out.

Don't do anything Oblomov its crystal clear when you RTFT what your intentions were.

PollyPerky · 14/09/2017 11:22

You don't need to do anything OP.

The photos you posted have the name of the doctor across them for copyright purposes. (MD = Dr .) He's a plastic/ cosmetic surgeon and I've just googled his name and read his website. I suppose it's kind of obvious that these are before and after pics as they are juxtaposed to one another. But I didn't twig initially and thought they were 2 different women.

If the issue was pubic hair, this has been talked about ad nauseum in Style & Beauty and AIBU.

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 14/09/2017 11:38

If it's about pubes - yes most young women and teens are entirely hairless. The only people I know who have pubic hair in my age category are 'alternative' ( sometimes their pubes are bright blue 😂) and single ladies x

PeaceAndLove1 · 14/09/2017 15:25

There's no need to remove the thread.

Olderandcolder · 19/09/2017 07:37

I'm a practising healthcare professional working in obstetric and gynae Theatre. I can tell you only from my experience of seeing ten to fifteen vulvas per day that more labia protrude a least slightly, that's across the ages and stages of the women we see. What I can't understand about this thread is the level of ignorance about female genitalia. It's crazy. Is every penis the same?

AuntLydia · 19/09/2017 07:51

In fairness older, if we assume that statistically speaking the majority of women on this thread are heterosexual, then they won't have seen a lot of female genitals. I can barely see my own - thanks to a mum tum and a dislike of shaving. This thread has been very informative. What I don't understand is why shorter labia is somehow seen as nicer to look at, genitalia aren't particularly pretty to look at whatever their shape or construction.

Olderandcolder · 19/09/2017 08:34

I dunno, I find the language used to describe normal, healthy anatomy really odd. It's demeaning to have people who's genitalia has remained unchanged during puberty call other people's for example flappy or dangly etc. I've had teens as young as fifteen in, suicidal over their very normal healthy vulva, with absolutely minimal protrusion of labia

dannydyerismydad · 19/09/2017 09:42

Misses point...

What really confuses me on that show are the women who are disgusted by a bit of chest hair, but have no issues snogging a full beard.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/09/2017 11:49

That labia library shows that every shape and size is perfectly 'normal.' I hope that puts anyone's mind at rest who might be thinking they're abnormal.

imjessie · 19/09/2017 13:15

@Olderandcolder as a straight woman , I've never seen another vulva , ever !! 🤷‍♀️.... I don't watch porn but im aware porn stars have very ' perfect' labia so I guess most women base their assumptions on that .!

Guiltybystander · 19/09/2017 13:23

The one on the left is quite shockingly long, I've never seen such a long labia on anyone, I would say it is definitely not the norm. If I had something like that I would immediately book myself with a plastic surgeon to fix it. I find even the one on the right kinda long.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/09/2017 13:31

Guilty why don't you look at the links posted on this thread? Your reaction is ridiculous and extreme.

pambeesley · 19/09/2017 13:36

Lack of pubes is certainly the fashion. I like to be very trimmed or none at all. I also prefer men to be that way so it works both ways.

AuntLydia · 19/09/2017 13:42

I agree with you re the language Older.

When it comes to pubes it seems as if the younger generation's hair has migrated from their pubic area up onto their eyebrows and eyelashes!!

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 19/09/2017 13:57

I have read this whole thread with my mouth hanging open.

As Older said (and I've nicked it, cos I couldn't put it better myself!)

I find the language used to describe normal, healthy anatomy really odd. It's demeaning to have people who's genitalia has remained unchanged during puberty call other people's for example flappy or dangly etc. I've had teens as young as fifteen in, suicidal over their very normal healthy vulva, with absolutely minimal protrusion of labia

It's actually very offensive to hear your own, perfectly healthy, labia decribed in such terms.
Especially because a lot of the assumptions/myths around labia size come very a horrible and misogynistic place.
That longer labia are a result of "sexual promiscuity" , or childbirth.

Every vag is different, I'm bi, have slept with several women, and seen the genitals of several more.

And listen to the healthcare pro.....she sees 15 vulvas every fricking day, and says long is just as normal as very small (hidden?) inner labia.

I love my labia, vulva, and vagina.

I have had quite long labia all my life, nothing to do with childbirth, or sex.

Apart from not liking knickers cos they tend to chafe a bit, it doesn't affect me at all, and have had several compliments on my vulva, including during cunnlingus! Grin

Seriously, just like penis shape and size, boob shape and size, there is no fucking "normal", just a huge range of different.
The only difference is what society at any one time deems "attractive", and I think it's disgusting that some posters on this thread are happy to give other women the impression that anything other than inner labia "neatly" (urgh btw, it's another form of the age old classic of expecting women to be "neat" and "clean" with no messy bits) tucked inside is abnormal in anyway.

RoastsArelife · 19/09/2017 14:08

Mine didn't change after having children and it doesn't hang out the middle Hmm

BelligerentGardenPixies · 19/09/2017 14:09

I suppose we don't have very much communal bathing/changing/home midwifery anymore so Hetero women are unlikely to have seen many other "real" (as opposed to images in porn which are a constructed version of reality) vulvas, other than there own.

Whilst there is nothing wrong with a "neat" vulva unchanged by puberty, the current obsession and subsequent money making industries surrounding them has an uncomfortable and peadophilic quality to it.

Girl children have reasonably uniform "neat" vulvas. Adult women have vulvas that come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, all of which are nomal and should be acceptable.

Labia that cause constant pain need medical attention but otherwise LEAVE THE LIPS ALONE, any bloke who is bothered by them can get off the fun train at the next stop.

PollyPerky · 19/09/2017 16:03

I don't know what all the arguments are about here. Confused.

I'd say 99% of women posting here are in agreement. They agree that labia size doesn't matter.

HOWEVER there are some women who find their lengthy labia uncomfortable and I've seen and heard 'medical' TV progs where the women were not young, impressionable but mature women who wanted surgery.

There is a lot of over sensitivity here on this thread too. If you read mumsnet at all, the use of 'flaps' for fannies, pussies, vulvas, whatever you want to call them, is common. So getting in a flap over the word 'flappy' is a bit OTT.

I don't think blokes would get all annoyed if some other bloke described their scrotum as a bit too dangly, or their foreskin a bit too long...everyone is different.

Women can look at a vulva and observe that the labia are longer than average without it being a criticism, or initiating a hissy fit!

PollyPerky · 19/09/2017 16:07

And the shaved pubes are a fashion MAINLY among the youngsters. I don't know of anyone in RL who shaves (in my generation) although there is always someone on MN in their 50s 60s or older who will come along and say they always have shaved. Fine.

TBH the main worry of older women is their pubes falling out at menopause. To quote Oprah- she said no one tells you that bald pubendum are part of the menopause [for some women.] I think that says quite a lot about how older women feel about their pubes.

Olderandcolder · 19/09/2017 17:00

Over sensitivity? Please gI back and note the disgusted tone of, for example, RoastsAreLife or GuiltyBystander.
Yes the labia on the left are at the larger end of normal and would have definite potential to cause pain or discomfort, but saying that the after is still too long is insane.
Also can I bust the myth that larger labia minora is caused by childbirth. Yes childbirth changes the body but not commonly in that way.
