For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

strangey..hi!
how goes things?

place two tangerines near machine and scoff em when finished exercises?
i didnt know you could get pilates machines i thought it was all just stretching for famous folk

StrangeTown · 19/02/2007 23:15

Well yes Suzy, I don't think Joseph Pilates dance rehabilitation man or whoever he was really wanted us to use poncey machines, but it is marginally more interesting that sitting on the floor stretching and it is actually very relaxing. I find the proposition of relaxing and toning my arse irresistible.

Gah, today is already shot. We are going to the Science Museum, but by tube. I expect we will eat crap. Gah.

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2007 08:11

what's up?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 20/02/2007 08:13

I am tired and irritable. It will pass. Having DH underfoot throws me off, tbh.

DS1 did ask to be picked up by DH, with DS2 yesterday, so he got to experience the full glory of the school run (normally he picks up DS1 without DS2, which is a v different thing).

DS2 had a giant tantrum on the tube, because he wanted to be on a tube train. So DH definately got the full experience. He thinks I should pay for more childcare now. (Well, he always thinks that, tbh.)

NotQuiteCockney · 20/02/2007 08:15

Right, tired and irritable is Not On.

I will do an exercise tape this morning, on the tv or a computer or something. Annoyingly, DS2 has asked for (and got ) his tractor video ... he likes the bit with the pigs all feeding together.

Papillon · 20/02/2007 08:17

Hallo hallo

Just gargled some onion water with a dash of Bran oil. Sore throat with no other symptoms. the onion water is quite sweet and ds thinks it a huge laugh me making gargling noises as we walk around the house.

I have been getting back into eating since in NZ, I fear I was more than verging on unweight not eating enough. But living with my family is an extravaganza of food, way too much meat, but loads of vege and loads of fruit. I love yellow peaches and now mandarins with a taste sensation that no supermarket in Switzerland can come close to. And of course Apples apples and apples. Straight off the tree.

Nice to see lots of familar names here on this thread

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2007 08:18

Sympathy heading your way, NQC

must go, my own baby piglet is rooting around

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2007 08:18

Ooh Paps!

I'll be back later

OP posts:
Papillon · 20/02/2007 08:19

NQC saw your thread about over shaving your head!

maybe to compensate you could grow little sporadic shoots of hair

NotQuiteCockney · 20/02/2007 08:21

I'm happy with the shaved head, just unhappy with the Britney thing (not so much from you, Frances - more DH claiming he's told his colleagues I did it to be like Britney).

Right, must work out how to exercise this morning ...

Overrun · 20/02/2007 10:42

Hiya! Hello Paps, nice to see you.
Aviatrix and Suzycream - um , well it seemed to start in my neck, and I have worked it back to either the pilates, or the wonderful orgasm I had lol, I know which activity I would rather give up
So far so good today. I have done ring a ring a roses, and round and round the mulberry bush, the grand old duke of york. You name it, we did it, a good old fashioned nursery rhyme session.
On the portion front, in my cereal I had pieces of apple, had a banana and some grapes. Got some squash curry to eat up for lunch, along with some salad and a pizza with various toppings, not all of which are bacon

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2007 10:51

at Overrun having an orgasm in her neck, caused by Pilates

and they say this thread is dull

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 20/02/2007 11:02

lol overrun

have managed an apple and naartje this morning

will throw some fruit on the pancakes for lunch and tonight I'm making a beef stew so will chuck in lots of veg from the veg box (probably cabbage, parsnips, mushrooms, carrots).

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2007 11:12

Ok hold it right there

what is a naartje? And why did you want to know where I was from, fox?

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 20/02/2007 11:20

aarrgghh sorry, meant satsuma/clementine thing. Naartje's the S African name for it.

was just being nosy really

Overrun · 20/02/2007 11:33

Its not funny every one , its hard enough trying to find time for that sort of thing, anyway. Now, I have a major disincentive

foxinsocks · 20/02/2007 11:37

do you get migraines often? I've figured out my food triggers now and haven't had one for months (touch wood).

I'm sure it's more likely to be food that anything else . Too much exercise makes my head pound too though.

Overrun · 20/02/2007 11:47

I have got quite an interesting book about them, I have been getting increasingly bad ones for the last year. I really don't think any particular food triggers mine. As for the sex, who knows, but I think it is all connected to my neck. I have problems with it anyway, and thats where I feel tension and stress (big triggers for my migraines). I also notice if I have been very stressed and then relax (hence orgasm theory) that can trigger them.
I am trying to get to the bottom of them, because they really have been causing me problems, dh having to take time off work etc
I think there might be a pmt, menstrual cycle link as well ( I think we might have talked about this before?) Anyway, perhaps I will start another thread, as I am at risk of hijakcing this one

suzycreamcheese · 20/02/2007 17:02

overrun...sounds like a true pain in the neck! ..sorry..i wonder if that is where that expression comes from!... no probably hanging or something..

have done 40 minutes swimming (and my own made up floaty exercises, which worry the lifeguard and so amuse me more ) today which was fab...
have tasty risotto lined up for tonight and had winter salad for lunch...poor show though nowhere near ten...

Well I PHONED THE GYM today

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 20/02/2007 20:03

Hmmm, I had a rucola salad at lunch. And some oranges. And tuna/tomato/onion pasta. Not great, but could be worse. Walked from Science Museum to St Paul's (an hour's brisk walk? I guess?).

Tomorrow I will be able to run properly, I think, as DH promises to be home in the morning.

NotQuiteCockney · 20/02/2007 20:03

Frances, did you phone the gym for ten minutes, though?
