I have had them about 10 years

I have tried a chiropodist, just cost £100, hurt a lot and didnt work.

Are there any herbal/non medical answers?

Thanks

I've got one of those cheese grater foot files. Not nearly as lethal as I was led to believe by my work mates though.

becklespeckle · 07/03/2007 17:00

wartner - superb stuff
DH had nasty huge wart on ankle, bazooka didn't touch it but 2 treatments of wartner and a few weeks later it just fell off!

EdieMcredie · 07/03/2007 18:11

bazuka worked for me.

Bobalina · 07/03/2007 18:22

Jenn, I've looked about for a cheese grater foot file but cannot find one. What's the name of yours and where did you get it?

As you can probably tell, my feet aren't my greatest asset!

cat71 · 07/03/2007 18:35

How do you know when to stop treating verrucas? I have been using Bazuka for ages on one large verruca and was also using it on a few little ones. I recently stopped treating the small ones as I'm not sure whether the marks that are left are still verrucas or holes in the skin left by the Bazuka gel?

Jennster · 07/03/2007 19:52

Bob it's a Scholl hard skin file and I bought it in my Pharmacy any good chemist will have them in though.

SlightlyMadScientist · 07/03/2007 19:55

cat71 - that one we had difficulty with. With the banana it is quite easy as the verucca becomes a bit raised and then falls off so you can see when it isn't there any more. With the Bazooka - as you say you have just gouged a hole in your foot so I can imagine it is difficult to know when to stop.

The core of a verucca is usually black (the blood supply) so I guess when that has gone the verucca has gone.

appledumpling · 08/03/2007 13:34

Haven't got round to getting any bananas. However, 2 days of tea tree oil, germolene and covering the lot with a plaster (and a mile of micropore!) has brought a huge improvement. The wart doesn't throb anymore and bits of it have dropped off. This seems to be working for me.

I have just been diagnosed with a verucca on the ball of my foot. It's been painful for several months. The chiropodist thought that it was a corn when she saw it last, but the little black dots showed up today. I'm keen to go down the banana route, but want to be clear - do I put the inside of the skin next to the verucca, or the outside? And how do I avoid passing the virus on to the rest of the family?

OldieMum · 08/03/2007 21:44

You can tell I'm a neophyte - I can't even spell verruca!

SlightlyMadScientist · 08/03/2007 21:48

Put the inside, fleshy part of hte skin against teh verucca. Just cut a piece to cover the verucca, cover with a plaster.

small piece of skin, fleshy side down. Hold in place with a plaster/micropore tape. Change every 24hrs, file about once a week. DDs droppped off after about 3 weeks with banana after bazooka (vile stuff) had her in agony every day for 2-3 weeks.
I have heard that blackened banana is best. I also don't like spotty bananas so it was never that black - but I always tried to pick hte ripest part of the skin. I also stored it in the fridge for 3-4 days before using a fresh one so I didn't have to eat bananas every day.

If you keep it covered that should stop you spreading it to the family.

VoodooChickenhead · 11/03/2007 21:14

SMS you should cut and paste your advice youve said it consistently throughout this thread!!!

SlightlyMadScientist · 13/03/2007 16:17

I did cut and paste it .

I only copied it Oldiemum asked about how to do it. Sorry if it seems I am being a but forceful .

RubberDuck · 13/03/2007 16:27

Hmm, well we've switched to banana 24hrs now and still not seeing any major change A particularly stubborn verruca?

VoodooChickenhead · 14/03/2007 11:28

Ive been banananring for 3weeks now on and off, there is definately an improvement...and much more than the painful chiropody ever did...

LilyLoo · 21/03/2007 13:08

Glad you got this thread back couldn't find it . Banana not really doing much here either! Am now thinking of trying more Wartner, already done the max three treatments, but sod the nerve damage if it get's rid of this damn thing. My pedicure voucher runs out at end of March

climbingrosie · 21/03/2007 18:08

Rubberduck and everyone else....persever!!! I know it is ever so dull and boring but banana does work. As of today I am finally completely verruca free, the last little one took over three months in total to go , was about ten years old though so very stubborn!

I'm celebrating now!!
