A satsuma in the toe of your stocking - 10/10 club getting ready for Christmas

A new thread as requested. For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

yulemoonfiend · 03/12/2006 16:08

grooo. Am not eating anything ever agin. Just returned from mother's 70th. Huge 4 course meal last night, huge hotel brekki (beans, mushrooms and tomatoes on toast with orange juice though ) and huge 3 course sunday dinner with all the trimmings today. Can.not.move.Belly.about.to.explode.

Dt seemed to bounce back but now seems to have caught a virus from his brother and is running high temps. bit worried that the ga left him open to infection and he is going to be pretty unwell. never mind. I didn't take offense at people thinking it was me, it was nice that people remembered that I am due to go in at some point Just wanted to clarify.
Very hungover today, to my shame, think I drank too much as a release from tension of last week, well thats my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it
Satsumas, apples and bananas so far. Am cooking lamb with roast parsnip and butternut squash, plus cabbage and leeks. Need some vitamins inside me

Papillon · 04/12/2006 07:13

HI (((Overrun))), hope your ds is okay and his temp down what a worry!

I just had Basel bread with butter, miso and apple (miso instead of marmite Franny )

liking the festive faces !

SauerKraut · 04/12/2006 07:47

Hello. Not doing very well at the moment- could anyone inspire me with exciting ways with fruit and veg? Somehow it seems easier to slurp my way through an espresso with lots of hot milk than to chomp my way through an apple- just can't be arsed.

Overrunderthemistletoe · 04/12/2006 20:43

You know that lovely healthy dinner that I was making last night, well I didn't have a mouthful of it this is why

Been too stressed today to really do much cooking. Have grabbed some fruit, but just feelig crappy really, papillon, thanks for asking about ds, he is much better now, it was the other twin that caused us worry last nigh

Papillon · 05/12/2006 08:18

More hugs required for ((((Overrun)))) - blimey you have been having quite a time! Maybe you need a sickness cleansing spell (better ask St George about that though) and banish all illness back to the lands they came from!

I understand stress and not being up to cooking much. Invited a friend for lunch later in the week and she said "I am not into food much atm, so soup and bread is ok" - so am insulted into activity and will and make the atriatrix pumpkin curry for her (fingers crossed)

SauerKraut I think it is that time of the year, fruit is so not warming as that coffee.

Hope everyone else is well. Think Franny on abit of a break atm - thinking of you Franny and hope RL is well with you

FrannyandZooey · 05/12/2006 08:47

Morning my fruity friends, just realised that a 1 day break had turned into 3 and I hadn't meant to just vanish. I am trying to focus on RL and get myself organised for Christmas. Besides, I can't think of a Christmas name

Sorry to hear about dt, Overrun - you poor old lot!

Please keep the thread going and I will see you all soon xx

Overrun, you have been through it recently! Just saw your other thread..glad everything is OK.

Have been crap at the 10/10 personally recently. Working abroad + throat/chest infection like Greensleeves. I feel miles better when I actually put the effort in to do this, so am going to get my backside in gear for rest of week. Pineapple, sats and orange, ready to take to work tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is doing better than me...I need some tales of fruity health from the rest of you.

Papillonion · 06/12/2006 07:20

Overrunderthemistletoe · 07/12/2006 17:48

Hi again, I am really haphazard at logging on atm, but then rl i.e looking after ill children tends to have a habit of getting in the way
Doing alright on the portion front, soups for lunch every day this week. today, carrot, leek, potatoe, onion. Very tasty, there is always something so profoundly comforting about orange soup.
pap, I did try your onion treatment, but the oil made me gag, is it strictly necesscary?
