A satsuma in the toe of your stocking - 10/10 club getting ready for Christmas

A new thread as requested. For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

have had cereal and banana for breakkie, carrot sticks, apple, nuts and salad sarnie for lunch and am out for dinner (but horrid american/texmex place so...)

FrannyandZooey · 28/11/2006 18:06

You are all doing marvellously

it is warming my heart to see you all eating up your greens

I am letting the side down today, am feeling slightly low and can't be bothered to go to the gym or eat the stew I have defrosted. Am going to sit and eat cheesy pasta instead and see if I can remember where I hid the Christmas chocolate

Sorry about the jinx Franny, and a big hello to all newcomers.
I have had a good day on the fruit and veg front but didn't do my intended to walk to the library with boys, as by the time I got the twins up from their cots it was too late
I had museli, apple, 2 satsumas( it really is that time of year again, they were so sweet and juicy)
Spinach, carrot and onion soup, say 2 portions, and not avacado, raddicio and cucumber salad, pea cous cous thing with my Salmon. So reckon I am on track.
Must start to do some exercise soon, as size 12 jeans are getting a bit tight for comfort and I swore I would never go back to my old weight so threw all my bigger stuff out

Trinityrhino · 28/11/2006 18:52

well day one and I have only managed 1 banan and a large hadnful of grapes

shaming myself on here to try to motivate myself

Overrunnerbean · 28/11/2006 18:58

Trinity thats 3, not too bad a start at all. If you add another banana chopped up over cereal or in greek yog for brekkie and a glass of juice you would be half way there

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 28/11/2006 19:06

I have been to the gym twice this week and my god i am in pain

am off down to london tommorrow where i will eat lots of chocolate and not go to the gym

that'll learn me

FrannyandZooey · 28/11/2006 20:35

Filly what are you doing in the big smoke?

Trinity that is a good start! I think you need to make sure you have lots of fruit and veg in the house that you like, also easy recipes for dinner. It takes a while to get organised.

Dinny, I didn't see your post on the other thread, but if you would like to borrow my "How weaning happens" book you are very welcome. It advocates natural weaning but also has some tips for gentle mother-led weaning at different ages.

Aviatrix and Overrun, everyone is doing so well this week!

erm

except me

Hmm. I am going for an appt with my personal trainer the weekend after next and will try hard to get motivated again. I have been doing twice a week at the gym but would rather go 3 times and do more cardio. I can do the weights every time but can't be arsed to get all sweaty - I'm tired in the evenings anyway

Aww Franny why are you feeling low? (I posted on your other thread btw - did you have a chat with your LLL leader?)
I am still not back on track. Got a busy few weeks ahead too so I don't suppose I will be for a while. I hate getting ill, it really knocks my confidence and it takes ages to get my head together again.

FrannyandZooey · 28/11/2006 20:51

Aw, this and that Tatties, thanks for asking

I have lost that thread, sorry, will search

when I phoned she was away and I just haven't made the time this week

I am sorry you have been laid low, it is a difficult time of year for staying healthy

Tatties · 28/11/2006 21:02

Hope you're ok

Earthymama · 28/11/2006 21:41

I've tracked you down!! Evil emoticon!

I haven't eaten much today but had pots, cabbage, peas, carrots, swede, with parsley sauce for supper so made up for it. It was really scrummy. Just having mango, kiwi and apple now so that adds up to....8.

I haven't exercised apart from usual looking after littles cos of aches and pains from my death defying plummet down the stairs! (I'll stop going on about it now!! Promise! but it did hurt!)

fullmoonfiend · 29/11/2006 15:12

you can all kiss my fruity moon Today I have had banana sarnie for breakfast, carrot sticks, grapes, cherry toms, cucumber batons (!) wih my smoked mackeral, followed by a medly of melon and an apple!!

Really craving cake though....
