charliecat · 27/11/2006 21:50

Thought you were still on the wagon NAS . Alice are you meant to be using the puffer and the patches at the same time?

notasheep · 27/11/2006 22:01

Looking forward to the Christmas piss ups as a Non Smoker and another smug moment

cx

lou33 · 28/11/2006 15:24

i really want a fag right now

Pann · 28/11/2006 17:31

lou - you don't want a fag. The fag wants you. AND you certainly DON'T need a fag.

lou and SEA - read the Smokers Vow again, and imagine all it entails and DO NOT think, "oh just one will be okay.."

SEA - a cat's bum's mouth isn't something you want developing, is it? I've seen these on relatively young people.....it would be like a premanent facial scar of the stupidity of using nicotine, yes??

lou33 · 28/11/2006 17:36

im not reading the vow because i dont need to, i didnt have one, i just want one

i have just got back from a party of 17 ten year olds, i really WANT one, but i wont.

Spottydog · 28/11/2006 18:32

Hi, can I join you all? I quit 11 days ago after reading Allen Carr and can really recommend it. I tried quitting last year and failed miserably, so i'm quite surprised that I haven't caved in yet. Have been lurking here for a few days getting some inspiration from you all, so thanks for your support

Pann · 28/11/2006 19:05

hello spotty. So many people shoving the weed where it belongs!!

Yes Allen Carr is a bit of a standard on the thread, as is www.whyquit.com.......

great you have posted...11 days, well done to you!! Breathing easier? Sense of relaxation yet???

lou33 · 28/11/2006 21:05

the real test for me is when i go to the pub, i'm going to try and avoid it this friday

imaginaryfriend · 28/11/2006 22:43

Lou, do all your drinking friends smoke? If not how about going to a non-smoking place or sitting in the non-smoking section? It is harder to resist in that kind of situation but it's not impossible and before you know it you'll be in that situation and realise you're not thinking about it at all!

I feel very sad for mb, if you ever peek on this thread again, thanks for your extra incentive advice.

And hello spotty! 11 days in, that's brilliant. Are you cold turkeying it?

lou33 · 28/11/2006 22:47

not really no, but the local is v smoky, noone sits in the non smoking bar, so it would be pretty lonely, lol

if i avoid going this week i should be ok to go next week i think

Spottydog · 29/11/2006 08:49

Hello again, yes, I am cold turkeying it! I tried the nicotine gum last time and it was foul so I thought i'd just go for it this time. I'm finding that I think about smoking less and less and strangely I do feel more relaxed, but I haven't been out to the pub yet, I might just have to wait until the smoking ban comes in.

lou33 · 29/11/2006 09:07

today is day 5 for me, i'm feeling ok,the urges to have a ciggie are controllable, not lasting that long

charliecat · 29/11/2006 09:55

Allen Carr RIP

Pann · 29/11/2006 17:10

Sad. So sad. Reminds one.

imaginaryfriend · 29/11/2006 18:57

CC, it's tragic that he died of lung cancer in the end. But if he hadn't quit when he did he wouldn't have lived anywhere near this long would he?

charliecat · 29/11/2006 19:01

No, no way and he was 72, and helping all those folks stop smoking must have gave him the buzz of the century.
All doing well I gather?
Im on my 2 year stretch now. Can hardly belive it.
And for any newbies wondering, it took a while, actually , felt like forever to get to 1 year. But this past years went like a flash.
And I think theres been 1 day when I thought, my goodness a fag would be nice right now.
1 day in year folks And I didnt, and im still here

Pann · 29/11/2006 20:36

1 Week, 2 days 20 hours. Happy to think I shall NEVER catch the two of you up!!

LieselVonTrapp · 29/11/2006 21:29

One month and counting for me. Missing it like mad though. Well done everyone
