OK chaps? I won't post the links again this time if you don't mind.

I will start the thread by saying that Paps is not ethereal and wispy but very groomed and chic. Bad luck to those who missed her

When´s Pann coming back?

Going off my fruit and vege here

Papillon · 21/09/2006 20:28

Oh and lastly has NQC come back from visiting her German friends???

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2006 21:09

Evening all, nice to see new people still here and hope any of our old gang who wish to rejoin us will do so.

I went to the gym and my wrist was fine. I have had at least 10 today with a big stew for dinner and a clementine for afters. The crap craving has been milder today (perhaps because I indulged it so much yesterday )

OP posts:
Tatties · 21/09/2006 21:47

Ok today I have had about the same as yesterday. Minus the banana. But I had a banana smoothie instead. Have walked quite a bit.

I feel rubbish tonight though! Splitting headache and feeling wound up because dp is away and ds didn't want to go to bed

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2006 21:50

Tatties have you just started eating this way? I always get headaches at first, it should not last long. I hope tomorrow is better for you

OP posts:
Tatties · 21/09/2006 22:06

No Franny, I usually do eat plenty of fruit and veg, with occasional lapses
I have eaten a bit more than usual though, han't thought that might be the cause actually. I am a long-term tension headache sufferer though and it has been hot today, so not surprising really! Need to get a good night's sleep too I think.
Taking ds swimming in the morning - never taken him before so I am looking forward to it. Don't think I'll get any swimming done though!

Clary · 22/09/2006 00:19

Ankle fine now thanks papillon.
Leek and carrot soup, banana and raisins tonight (and the last slice of plum cake from Nigella book ).
No exercise today tho. Couldn't work out how to get home on my bike and then do the school run/rainbows run/DS2 at car-drive-away childminder run. So I took the car. Have been busy all this pm, weedy excuse I know for not even going for a run...

Pann · 22/09/2006 00:56

Hi All! My, it's getting nicely crowded round here!

Been a bit absent, with the imposter that RL is - working WAY too much - FT- plus, and trying to get hugh garden in order before winter sneaks upon us (still developing the paved area, and veg. plot, so getting plenty of exercise),dd time, social bits and housey jobs - hence posting past the witching hour...

probably managing a 5 average, but always starting day with muesli plus a cup of dried fruit - CAN'T face another grapefruit for a couple of years!

not had time to read all of thread, but we do seem to be a shiny bunch - Charleeee is infectious.

Hi to you too Paps - your life in Bern sounds gorgeous, long may it.

Pann · 22/09/2006 00:58

oh, and a bit concerned about the Depeche Mode developments.....did they support the Levellers, once?? -

Papillon · 22/09/2006 08:14

Nice to talk to you to Pann, have a good one

The sun is georgous here so I won´t stay indoors long. I plan to eat much better today and will be walking quite alot. Had lots of fruit and bircher this morning.

Franny I think we have a chink in the Clary armour - you need this new disciple to exercise and not drive vehicles all day!!

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 22/09/2006 08:24

aaargh, there is a new scientist article on "the perfect diet" which i wanted to link to, but they have made all access subscriber only!

it has a bunch of stuff about how much froot and veg and why...also how much water...

have only skimmed but think its around 4 portions froot and 5 veg a day.

will read later + report back.

FrannyandZooey · 22/09/2006 11:55

Oh Filly pls pls can you type bits out

or even better will you send to me after you have finished with it

(it would be recycling it in a good cause you know)

OP posts:
Clary · 22/09/2006 12:44

Ah no papillon honestly I don't drive all day...we only have one car between us despite both working OTH, and having to drop children off in various places all week.... I often cycle or take the bus, honest

Today: banana and muesli for breakfast, lunch cheese on toast plus pepper, cucumer, tomatoes and biiiig bunch of grapes and another banana. Calling that 4, which makes 5 altogether.

Overrun · 22/09/2006 16:54

I have eaten my usual grapefruit with museli for breakie. Plus 2 apples, some carrots and carrot and leek soup for lunch. Not so bad, out for an Indian meal tonight, so will have to get a vegetable side order

FrannyandZooey · 22/09/2006 18:05

FMF (but nice poem). Get well soon...

I have had apple, peach, kiwi, raisins and soya milk for breakfast, banana for a snack, am just about to eat bulgar wheat with lots of veg in (sweetcorn, pepper, mushrooms) and a salad (raw cauli, cucumber, carrot, tomatoes and beetroot). I make that about 9? It is harder to judge the veg portions - another reason why fruit eating is nicer and easier than vegetables

OP posts:
Tatties · 22/09/2006 18:54

Oh dear FMF. Hope you are feeling better soon. I have had a bit of a niggly sore throat the last few days. I am lucky that I don't tend to get full blown colds, just either a sore throat or a bunged up nose.

I have not done great today on the fruit and veg front. Had my usual dates, grapes, banana, apple juice. Must go shopping tomorrow for more variety. Made up a load of veggies to go with polenta for dinner, but I couldn't face eating once I had made it Does anyone else find that when they've spent ages making dinner they aren't hungry by the time it comes to eat it?

But it's not all doom and gloom, my head is much clearer today and surprisingly I felt quite exercised and chilled out after my toddler swimming session Will definitely be doing that again.

Oh, had a thought for exercise music while listening to the radio today - what about Jimmy Somerville/Bronski Beat/Communards?

Bozza · 22/09/2006 19:13

Melon with yoghurt for breakfast
Orange juice
Huge quantity of gorgeous salad courtesy of my friend (lettuce, cucumber, tomato, beetroot, radish, mange tout, olives, plus other none veg stuff such as seeds, dressing etc) - so at least 2 portions
Raisins and banana chips
leek and feta quiche with 1 roasted pepper, runner beans and baby corn - 3
stewed apple and cinnamon

9 so far.

Pann · 22/09/2006 21:02

Oh dear moonie, take care.......

ON about 6 today, and was able to do about 2 hours in the garden before dark...if anyone has a load of earth that needs moving round their garden....don't ask me!!

FrannyandZooey · 23/09/2006 08:56

I am off out tonight and have high hopes of consuming all kinds of unsuitable things, so am putting a real effort into getting my 10 before I go. Had usual fruit and so on for breakfast - 5 portions - and am going to have raw veg with hummus as a large part of my lunch.

Exercise will be contained to bending over to paint toenails and laughing uproariously at fabulous witty friends

OP posts:
fullmoonfiend · 23/09/2006 15:47

I'm off out tonight (despite cold but is best friends b/day so have to go, sigh) it is a cheesy 80s and cocktail party so my exercise will consist of boogeing to crap 80s music and my fruit content will be the oragnge juice and grenadine in tequila sunrises

Overrun · 23/09/2006 16:14

Hope all you party goers have a good time. I rather overdid last night, had quite a few kingfishers with my Indian.
Today I have consumed tomatoes, banana, grapefruit and have a nice supper planned which will consist of mushrooms and salad. Not good but not too bad considering my hungover status. might try and do a dvd when kids are in bed, unless I am in a total state of collapse by then

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 10:07

Whoops, sorta dropped off the radar here.

Have been eating a lot of oranges, and holding a giant bday party for the boys. I think I made my 10 servings yesterday, from the party food (!!), guacomole, crudites, filo parcels with cranberries or squash in them, refried beans, etc etc.

No exercise yesterday, other than panic and running about like a headless chicken. About to go off for my run.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 24/09/2006 10:37

well I am pissed off to fuckery here.

I have sprained my sodding ankle again

Thats 5 times since Xmas.

I need to get it checked out

So atm am stuck with swimming, which i hate (can't listen to music or read) or cycling, which is a bit boring cos I cycle anyway when I get the chance-I like to be going past things. And the gym doesn't have the cool race thing that franny's has, its just UP a hill, DOWN a hill etc.

Yesterday: yeah, I did 10 portions, quite a lot of bananas. Today, lots of pumpkin and courgette off our condemned allotment.

NotQuiteCockney · 24/09/2006 10:51

Fillyjonk, that sucks.

I used to "roll" my ankles a lot, and sometimes they would get hurt. The physio told me a v simple exercise to fix them/my balance/the relevant muscles.

I just stand on one leg sometimes, ideally while barefoot - initially, with arms out, eyes open, etc etc. And then as my balance and the muscles got better, with arms at my sides, and then with eyes closed. You want to be wobbling a bit.
