OK chaps? I won't post the links again this time if you don't mind.

I will start the thread by saying that Paps is not ethereal and wispy but very groomed and chic. Bad luck to those who missed her

It will take at least 3 weeks for the craving for chocolate and cheese to wear off.

I would say that scraps just into 2 portions Greensleeves. If you want the cheese sandwich make sure you stuff it with avocado, salad, tomato and cucumber.

Try to not run me over with cheddar cheese but I hardly ever eat cheese or chocolate! Not that I don´t like chocolate but am abit allergic to toooo much of the stuff. Oranges are the worst though, cannot even be in the room when one is peeled.

Bozza · 19/09/2006 11:11

OK I have been lurking. How many portions in guacamole made with one avacado, one medium-large tomato and 3/4 medium onion? Can I claim 2?

Papillon · 19/09/2006 11:13

Hi and welcome lurker Bozza

1 avocado = 2 portions
1 tomato = 1 portion
1 onion = 1 portion

So you can claim more than 2!

Greensleeves · 19/09/2006 11:14

I am actually trying to cut out milk products because I think I have a mild intolerance (runs in the family) - I do have more energy and feel much better for it, but the cravings are hideous. I will NOT give in to them Will have huge bowl of mixed fruit and vegetables for lunch.

Papillon · 19/09/2006 11:15

Greensleeves (or anyone else) here is a pic of my cherubs eating Pizza here

FrannyandZooey · 19/09/2006 11:57

Welcome Bozza, don't lurk, keep posting, or it gets too quiet on here. Talking of which we now seem to have lost aviatrix

I have fruit with oats and milk for breakfast, Papillon, and seeds and stuff, quite kingly. However I am ravenous again and Greeny's rant about pizza did not help.

GREENY EAT SOME CARBS AND PROTEIN - it is obvious why you are getting cravings - you don't eat enough calories

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 19/09/2006 11:59

Nonsense, woman, muesli is FULL of calories!!

I want FAT and lots of it - I'm sure they are not healthy cravings.

Greensleeves · 19/09/2006 12:00

Pap, your kids are really beautiful (have you seen Franny's ds? He is heart-melting too)

I want stilton and really ripe brie, with granary bread and salted butter.

Bozza · 19/09/2006 12:01

Well TBH part of the reason for my lurkage has been that I have only been doing the f&v part and not bothering with the exercise.

Anyway today I have had the above, with crudites. So that was one carrot, 2" of cucumber and half a small pepper. So I think that will get me up to 6. I have a kiwi and plum on my desk, so that will be 7. And a packet of dried figs = 8. I will have the last two tonight.

Greensleeves · 19/09/2006 12:03

Oh, 'ecky thump, are we supposed to be exercising as well? I shall be dead by next Tuesday.

Tinkerbe1l · 19/09/2006 12:04

Franny and I need to discuss the arranged marriage between curly haired cherubs

Its pirates day today so I am tinkerbell rather than a ungroomed crusty, swashbuckling pirate! Still have my wings then

Eat what you like imo just make sure you have a salad on the side!

Tinkerbe1l · 19/09/2006 12:05

jeez Bozza don´t lurk the only exercise I get is carting my kids around!!

FrannyandZooey · 19/09/2006 12:06

You need fat! You need protein! You need calories! Eat the brie!

(yes your breakfast was ok but a bowl of fruit and veg for lunch? You are barking, woman)

ps new disciples please note I am only this rude to Greeny, the rest of you are safe

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 19/09/2006 12:08

I might have some couscous with it.

So what level of exercise are we meant to be doing? Does cleaning up the mess of wet loo roll, liquid soap and toothpaste ds2 has just made in the bathroom count?

FrannyandZooey · 19/09/2006 12:08

Who the dickens is Tinkerbell? Is it you Paps?

Yes do eat what you want but eat ENOUGH

if anyone is using this as a rapid weight loss crash diet thing they will get severely frowned at by me

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 19/09/2006 12:09

10 mins in addition to your normal routine, per day

it can be yoga or walking or whatever you like

Bozza · 19/09/2006 12:10

Does wandering round New Look in 2.5" inch heels count? Because that is what I am about to do!

NotQuiteCockney · 19/09/2006 12:12

Hmm, I have had six mandarin oranges, dunno what's up with that. 4 portions? + 1 for muesli.

Don't want lunch, will prob eat something while DS2 sleeps.

Am busy making random cake, and having thread about it. I'm off to see the French (Belgian really) woman today. German is Thursday.

Bizarrely, had a (reaonably) long chat this morning with someone who used to be a v v good friend, but hasn't been for ages. Probably will start thread about that, too ...

NotQuiteCockney · 19/09/2006 12:13

Oh, and I have decided to not exercise today (which means: 10 minutes biking for nursery + 40 minutes biking for school = 50 minutes exercise.)

Will run tomorrow, though.

Tinkerbe11 · 19/09/2006 12:14

Watch out Fran will start telling you off!! Thought window shopping is quite calorie burning, or so I have heard?

2.5" heels!!! I have trouble walking in flats

Greensleeves · 19/09/2006 12:15

LOL NQC, mandarin oranges are SO more-ish, I can never eat fewer than three

I am drinking pints and pints of water too, which is really helping to control the caravings for cheese and chocolate - and I'm sure my skin has improved in the last week.

Spidermama · 19/09/2006 13:28

Is this a motivational thread for healthier living?

If so can I just say I'm still post op' so have let things slip very badly and have done no exercise in a fortnight.

I did have a plate of vegetables for lunch, but sadly they were chip shop chips.

FrannyandZooey · 19/09/2006 13:33

Yup, that's right, welcome to you Spider and I will post the blurb again for you so you get the idea

(it all went a bit wrong this week)

"For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling."

I normally do links as well but I cannot be arsed today - I am sure you have a fair idea of what a portion of fruit is.

Links here Spidermama

I thought I had not seen you around for awhile - hope everything is okay. x

NotQuiteCockney · 19/09/2006 13:54

I am eating loads of pear + banana cake, does that count? Probably not much. Will try to eat some actual food for lunch, as have mystery food situation this afternoon.
