What do we want? Fruit and veg! When do we want it? Now! (10/10 club week 6)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Morning!

I am sooooooooooooooo tired today i swear someone stole half the night when i was asleep!

I really think at the age of 2 ds should beable to sense that sleeping in untill 10am is a great idea!
It's his birthday tea on Friday so im guessing thats not going to be to healthy so im going to have to make up for it during the week.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 12/09/2006 08:22

oh god, charlee, i remember that with ds when pg with dd. it was as though he sensed that I was tired and planned his early waking accordingly.

right, yesterday, hmmmm... Its still lots of potatoes from the potato party and those don't count...ummm...lots of salad (from allotment), bananas (of course), blackberries...said birthday cake...oh god, thats it, oops.

will do better today. possibly.

ps charlee whens your edd?

Pann · 12/09/2006 09:50

Morning all!

My, we are up involuntarily early today. About to have my 100th grapefruit of the week(?) and slide offski to the gym for a swim.

is anyone picking up Frances' crown she left on her throne, are shall we operate as a fruity worker's co-operative??

Papillon · 12/09/2006 10:40

A vote for fruit cooperative - if we choose another temporary leader there may be squabbles later when the chosen one returns.

I think I must have been sleep typing earlier - that was a of a post compared to the normally poetic posts I attempt to concoct!

I see Charlee you are due in November... ds was born 25 November.

I have eaten 2 apples, a plum, some sultanas

aviatrix - I know! One digests it all in anycase, but for some reason, to do with "breaking down the fibre" bit it fails to register beyond one? From jug to mouth it all fails? Hmmm.

Frances is on a MN sabatical for a couple of days.....

Ok - great gym trip - run, weights, abs, swim, sauna ( still counting sauna time) - g'fruit, peach, and about to do beans on toast. - does baked beans count ( processed I know, but still?)......

Charleesunnysunsun · 12/09/2006 17:33

Afternoon

I have been moving my living room furnitur around today, i know, i know i shouldn't a woman in my condition and all that but there would have been no where for the xmas tree otherwise. Ok i know im thinking ahead a bit but i was bored

I have eaten lots of crap today but i have had some fruit and im having veggies with dinner, bok choy and some other delights i may cook up!

I am all up for a non leader untill HRH Franny comes back, i mean if were all no our best behaviour im sure we will be ok!

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 12/09/2006 17:51

evening all

thus far I have eaten

3 peaches, two pears, an apple, a satsuma, some grapes, beetroot (eeew eeeew eeew), mango, garlic, onion, tomatoes, parsley (loads thus I think it counts), um...courgettes...and some more stuff.

Also more fruit of the cocoa tree and...bananas

I make that round about 15 portions.

And does peppermint tea count? Probably not

And I spent a whole day digging my allotment

All in all am feeling most smug.

If only Franny were here to share this

NotQuiteCockney · 12/09/2006 22:11

Ok, have posted my tagine recipe, thanks for the link filyjonk.

Today, I have:

  • run v hard for 30 minutes, about 4 km. I think?
  • biked the usual amounts
  • walked, and played football.

And I have eaten:

  • muesli (1)
  • 4 oranges (3)
  • refried beans (made today! 3 kg of beans' worth! And mostly frozen obviously!) and tomatoes (1)
  • a giant bowl of salad with lettuce, tomatoes, red pepper, avocado, radishes (5)

Tomorrow will be more biking, but I might try to do a longer run, too.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/09/2006 22:12

Oh, duh, wasn't fillyjonk, was papillon!

I am really not very alert these days, am I.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/09/2006 22:22

Oh, I had another good food thing - MIL left a giant bag of her almond macaroon biscuits on Sunday. They are nice, but I end up eating them when I get hungry, rather than having something with actual nutritional value (brazils, fruit, cheese, bread, whatever!). So DH is taking the ones that are left to work tomorrow! I must remember to dump unwanted sweet stuff on them in future.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 12/09/2006 22:46

Oh, I had a similar thing happen to me today, NQC.

But I was lucky, as they were orange peel encased in chocolate and so not only did I not have to give them away, I got to count them towards my portions! Yay!

Pann · 12/09/2006 22:54

ok. Worlds biggest stirfry for dinner - capiscum, courgette, sugar snap peas, carrot, cherry toms, onion, ginger....with fuit I am giddly nearing the perfect 10!!

Papillon · 13/09/2006 07:00

Stir fry sounds lovely Pann

Anybody else been getting super hot flushes? I don't know if it's a diet thing or a pregnancy thing. I am and they are bloody annoying especailly at night when i wake up practically melting. It really doesn't make sense when it's raining outside.

Not sure about dinner tonight possibly just smoked haddock, chips and salad nothing exciting i can't be bothered to spend ages in the kitchen and i have a load of salad to use up.

Anyway rambling a bit i had beeter let you all get off! bye

Papillon · 13/09/2006 07:19
