What do we want? Fruit and veg! When do we want it? Now! (10/10 club week 6)

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY

(if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion)

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY

(can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more)

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being.

Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Does soup count? All I cant eat at the moment is fruit and soup as I cant have salt. It was pea & ham.

Pan1 · 11/09/2006 13:54

Don't know LVT, but am entertaining doubts

Paps - hurray. As a policy decision I am going to report my F & V intake, say what exercise I am doing ,and sprinkle it with provocative banter. And nothing else!!

Papillon · 11/09/2006 14:00

But what else shall we do with the day Pan...

Pan1 · 11/09/2006 14:03

We let our imaginations run wildly away wit hus, paps.

Papillon · 11/09/2006 14:10

okay I will go eat a slice of that bread now

franny I am mailing you in between juggling Pan and ds

Charleesunnysunsun · 11/09/2006 16:47

Bloddy Hell! (excuse the language!) This thread has got huge quickly i only posted 2nd this morning!!!!! Just goes to show how little you people really do in the day time!

Papillon, I lived in New Zeland for a while last year, it was really nice i liked it but i like living here to, what part of NZ are you from? We lived just ouside Auckland in a tiny villiage called Kumeu.

I have eaten many a peach, bananna, all the grapes, salad in my 2 ham rolls for lunch. put some stewed rhubarb in my yoghurt this morning and im having veggies for tea!

Now boys and girls i hope there has been no bickering whilst i have been away today?

Papillon · 11/09/2006 17:31

yes miss

feel all now, tell me why I don´t like Mondays and all that! Been in the Yurt too long eating special cookies that FMF feeds me

My family are in Hawkes Bay.

Pann · 11/09/2006 17:41

Aw, don't feel like that paps..you were missed when you didn't post for a couple of days, and you would be missed again.

Papillon · 11/09/2006 18:15

I know, but I may have scared off our leader

Pann · 11/09/2006 18:23

lol - you make us sound quite exotic!!

fullmoonfiend · 11/09/2006 18:39

oh, now look here! This isn't fair - now I'm out all day to work and I come back and there's 3zillion messages and I feel like a late arrival at a party. And everyone's drunk and eaten all the pringles. And there's only peanuts left.
And I've got awful wind today. Parrrrp. Pardon I. {blush]

But have done my best jumping, bouncing, equipment setting up and botom-wiping of preschoolers today so that's deffo the exercise taken care of. Tomato sarnie for lunch with plums (hence the farts, sorry)

Home made chicken and veg soup followed by Jacket spuds, and tuna salad for dinner.

NotQuiteCockney · 11/09/2006 18:43

Have had two small apples, and a giant bowl of fattoush, made with 2 big tomatoes, 1.5 cucumbers, .5 red pepper, 5 radishes, 6 spring onions, and a bunch of fresh herbs. I ate maybe 3/4 of the salad?

Think that's about 5 servings for the salad, 1 for apples, 1 for breakfast, and 2 for the tagine. Might make 10. Obscenely over on my exercise quota ... and my afternoon walk went quite thoroughly wrong, but that's a whole other thread ...

Papillon · 11/09/2006 18:47

You smell like a breath of fresh air to me, there is still some full moon ale over in the corner and I saved a cookie for you.

Then you can read the thread at arms length

Charleesunnysunsun · 11/09/2006 18:49

Has Franny gone!

Franny come back we miss yooooooouuuuuuu!!!!!

Im currently blubbing at Hollyoaks, god so , not good for a pregnant ladies hormones!
Then i will probably blub at Eastenders later!

I have some Bok Choy! How exotic saw it whilst parusing the fruit and veg in Sainsburys i have only had it once and it was quite nice so thought i would get it again they seem to do more exotic things than Tesco.

fullmoonfiend · 11/09/2006 18:51

NQC - we have a thread for lovely fruity and veggie-full recipes - please can you give us your spinach, chickpea tagine recipe??? It sounds beautiful.

F&Z - your dp sounds lovely and thoughtful to make you special music compilations to work out to. Wish mine would remember his romantic side more....

Paps, have fossicked about in the shed and found you a bottle of my restorative elderberry wine. Have a glass m'dear?

Charleesunnysunsun · 11/09/2006 18:54

Anybody know what i can do with sausages? I defrosted them for toad in the hole and now don't fancy it!

Papillon · 11/09/2006 19:03

why slice them up and put in a vege stew Charlee of course

Papillon · 11/09/2006 19:31

Charleesunnysunsun I have written a cheer for you to chant. We need to get our leader back. I say this as a devotee who has sulked.

What do we want? FrannyandZooey! When do we want it? Now!
What do we want? FrannyandZooey! When do we want it? Now!

Lets all maintain positive thoughts and hopefully lure her back in

Charleesunnysunsun · 11/09/2006 19:35

I have stuck em in a cowboy casserole! Not many veggies but tastes very nice! It does have baked beans, onions and mushrooms in and i promise to have a fruit salad for pudding!

Love the cheers pap! Franny won't beable to keep away for long when she sees my pom pom's a'wavin!

FrannyandZooey · 11/09/2006 19:36

Oh my, look Papillon I was just coming on to say I am planning to have a little break (I know! and the computer is not even broken so it will probably only last about 2 hours)

Now please don't anyone get the wrong end of the stick. This is not a flounce and I am not upset with you Paps as you (hopefully) know from my emails

but MN has not been a terribly nice place to be lately (NOT this thread, just the site generally) and I am feeling a few days away would be good. Whether I will manage it or not I don't know. But please keep the flag of fruit and veg over-consumption flying high in my absence and I will see you all soon

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 11/09/2006 19:38

I can't find the recipes thread.

Sorry to hear you're not enjoying MN, Frances, and I look forward to your return. (You're still visiting us the first week of October, right?)

Charleesunnysunsun · 11/09/2006 19:40

Woe is me! What will we do without you Franny!

Lol i hope your feeling a little better soon, we will keep the fruit and veg a flyin an your absence.

Papillon · 11/09/2006 20:02

Don´t be an "Outkast" too long or our vegetables might start sprouting!

fullmoonfiend · 11/09/2006 21:30

not sure if you've already left for your break, Franny, but please email me/CAT me if you want to talk? How very dare anybody upset my bark-sucky guru. Lemme at them, I'll beat them over the head with my wnaky basket...

Papillon · 12/09/2006 06:08

mate I am awake too earlier - put this is last weeks thread - see what happens when our leader ascends... lost sheep wandering through threads!
