No idea. She tends to sneak around not doing it near me, I wil go in a shop and she will chuff outside etc.

charliecat · 12/09/2006 21:51

I will leave you SEA in IFs capables hands, going to get ready for bed and go and watch lost with dp xxxxx

imaginaryfriend · 12/09/2006 21:53

sea, you used to be able to download those awful anti-smoking adverts where people dying of cancer speak directly to the camera about smoking. Last time i quit they really kept me on the straight and narrow. You might need something to keep giving you a short, sharp, shock every time you feel like caving in?

i have 2 sons 12 and 5. i only have one dp . i suppose first thing in the morning or after lunch major trigger points.

imaginaryfriend · 12/09/2006 21:55

Capable hands? Really?

OP posts:
southeastastra · 12/09/2006 21:56

do you think it is easier to not use patches etc?

imaginaryfriend · 12/09/2006 21:56

Oops! Well, you may have a few dp's, you never know!

Morning was my first time by far. So the boys are at school and do you work in the day or stay home?

OP posts:
imaginaryfriend · 12/09/2006 21:59

People vary on the patches issue. I never considered them because I just wanted it over and done with and I thought as long as I had patches I'd never be really free of nicotine addiction. Plus I heard of people getting addicted to lozenges as well!

But other people swear by them. I'd be interested to see a success / fail rate of cold turkey vs. patches.

notasheep · 12/09/2006 22:03

Good Evening, sorry ive missed you today i have been very busy reading why quit.com

I have had another day without a fag and dp is becoming increasingly stinky.

Funny how i have also stopped my black coffee first thing in the morning

imaginaryfriend · 12/09/2006 22:08

hi nota! You could change your name to notasmoker now then, no? Just temporarily of course... Yes, the smell of fags does get strong.

southeast, there's no magic wand. But it's totally possible to quit smoking. Millions of people a year are quitting now aren't they?

notasheep, wow, you're taller than me. And I guess, same ratio roughly of weight to height. You could be my bigger sister! Are you dark-haired?

I'm a month free on Friday. Can't believe it really. Time has so flown. I was just starting a period shorely after starting my quit and now just started another. My hair will have grown half an inch. etc. etc. etc.

charliecat · 13/09/2006 10:59

Pann, you have ignored us on other threads We feel gutted.
Are you coming back to join us? Reading whyquit in you absence?

notasheep · 13/09/2006 16:37

Come back Pann-we have not really met properly.

Ifriend-if i was you i would get pissed on Friday and fagless you clever girl, time goes so quickly, bet you feel fantastic.

Had a bit of a funny turn at the petrol station,on seeing the huge display behind the counter of fags and tobacco in there shining packets looking like its something we should buy,I had this MASSIVE urge to throw something at the display, smash the whole lot down.It is with regret that i didnt do it.
However,i still have this wildness in me,must be the Nicotine Monster still fighting.
Who knows,i may make the local paper soon

Anyway,its Day 6

imaginaryfriend · 13/09/2006 18:09

Day 6 is bloody good notasheep!! Really fantastic. I know exactly what you mean though about 'madness' I had it on and off for the first two weeks and still now I find that if something is very stressful and I'd usually discharge energy with a smoke I'm now feeling slightly crazy instead!

Hey cc, drop came. And went. Come back drop!! Tell us how you're doing?

OP posts:
imaginaryfriend · 13/09/2006 18:12

hmmmmm ... I should celebrate slightly on Friday shouldn't I? Very broke at the moment due to dd's impending birthday!!

OP posts:
Pann · 14/09/2006 09:41

Hi all, and you, notasheep.I dipped off the thread as you came on??

IN this silly position of buying a packet of 10, smoking 3 of them and then throwing the rest away (well running water into the packet). Doing this 2-3 times a day. Absurd really. Am recognising being in imaginaryfriend's position of it limping behind me and having trouble shaking it off entirely. Have kind of accepted this for a couple of weeks, but wishing now to nail it completley.......

imaginaryfriend · 14/09/2006 13:54

And there I was, full of bravado, and today I came within an inch of having a smoke! My secret smoking friend offered me one and my hand shot out and took it and I was more tempted than I've been in weeks. A voice flashed though my head which said 'one won't hurt, go on, treat yourself'. Thankfully I resisted. But it just goes to show, you think you're out of the woods and hey presto you could so easily be back where you started ...

OP posts:
notasheep · 14/09/2006 13:54

Pann-i was a bit like that-my dp smokes roll ups,so everyday i would vow to stop and every day i would have 2 or 3 or 4 or 5........it doesnt work.
I know exactly where his tobacco is BUT i am determined NOT to go back to just 1 or 2.....

Had another one of my mad moments at the Supermarket today when i walked passed tobacco bit.....dp concerned that i will actually, definately, really make a scene

Its a week tomorrow-its gone so quickly, its ds birthday on 30th,really hope my brain is still in the same place

imaginaryfriend · 14/09/2006 13:57

congrats notasheep. Do you feel confident that this will be the last quit EVER???
