malteserzz · 17/08/2013 23:11

Lol amber Grin
Film was good but sad
Just been torturing myself looking at photos of me with full head of hair, its thinning by the hour now Hmm
Night all x

Gigondas · 18/08/2013 06:51

Don't torture yourself - if it does go, it will come back quite quickly. ThanksBrewWine As I know it's your birthday malt.
Didn't sleep that well so waiting for tea and drugs to kick in so feel a bit better. Might have another snooze.

malteserzz · 18/08/2013 07:40

Thanks gigs sorry you didn't sleep well hope you're having a bit of rest now

BetsyBoop · 18/08/2013 07:55

Happy Birthday maltWineThanks

Shootingatpigeons · 18/08/2013 08:30

Happy Birthday Malt I'm afraid the P and F words have prompted an attack of Cancer tourettes on FB, sorry couldn't resist but if you want I will don the pink sparkly shit and go and edit Wink I hope your family are up now and spoiling you rotten. It is dispiriting when the hair starts to go but actually I found finally giving in and shaving it off quite cathartic, then you realise it really isn't important in the scheme of things and the reality is not as bad as the thought of it. And you don't have to bother with the hairdressers for a few months, then get to experiment with your new short look. But it may not come to that.

gigs sorry that you didn't sleep well but sounds like an excellent excuse to demand more drugs, are the mini gigs coming to visit?

Yesterday we cleared out the loft and I had an attack of rampant decluttering, only problem was that having dispatched DH with first car load to dump we finished emptying the loft but my wedding dress failed to emerge Shock and fear I may have been over zealous Sad it cost a months salary so I had hoped there was some recycling to be done with all the yards of silk and lace (it was an 80s meringue). Oh well the pigeon chicks had a good laugh at my evening do dress, (serious 80s BIG shoulders) and at fact it is now going for £1000 quid on retro sites !!! Thankfully we saw some really terrible 80s dresses that Diana wore in the exhibition of dresses at Kensington Palace so they know I wasn't the only fashion victim Grin

Hope everyone has a lovely day especially the birthday girl

malteserzz · 18/08/2013 09:29

Thanks for the birthday wishes it is a bit crap but got mum and dad and best friend and family coming for BBQ later so that will be nice. Not opened any pressies yet, but have had breakfast in bed Smile

Pigeons your comment was perfect and though all the fighting positive and strong crap gets in my nerves too I have to remember their hearts are in the right place. Dresses sound fab I think the dcs do forget sometimes that fashions change!

On the positive I'm feeling fine, tired and can feel the start of a furry mouth but that's all

Hope everyone has a good day x

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/08/2013 09:59

people mean well malt - it's also their own fears coming out, they want to believe you're 'fighting' and 'battling' and will 'win' -it's scary for them. I guess you have to have cancer to be able to diss the pink shit Grin
Have a very happy day and lovely barbecue x
Hope all is well with gig - I like the Mothercare children -bargain !
Maybe going to Petworth today,if it doesn't rain too much...meditation later- then tomorrow dh back to work so back to my routine and I hope we can go swimming, though am v nervous about parading my bulk in my cossie.

Gigondas · 18/08/2013 10:30

I agree with pigeons - dont put brave face on it and the hair loss when it happens is horrid. I cried then got it all shaved off. But you do get used to it quite quickly . Enjoy the BBQ and hope you get some lovely presents.

Sounds like you may have been over zealous pigeons but all those types of style are Back in. And on the bright side it stopped the little pigeons fighting each other.

Mas - I think once you have swum once and got out there you won't feel so odd about swimsuit . I am desperate to be able to swim so Envy. But hopefully not too long.

Little gigs, mr gig and sis gig all coming so we can go out for picnic lunch. It's a lot easier than having mini gig in cafe as she doesn't take well to being confined (tho seemed to enjoy pub last night). So looking forward to that and having proper feed as they are running out of various foods all time here which is Hmm.

Kitkat meant to say I used aloe Vera mouthwash which was soothing and didn't seem to stain teeth.

Hope betsey and sparkle doing ok.

Hope everyone else has nice day . I am powering thru greys anatomy so may have to get mr gig to download more ESP if op 2 on Tuesday. I am now of the lets get it done and dusted mood while I am here rather than have to come back in.

Lilymaid · 18/08/2013 10:46

Hair loss is horrid. I first had my hair cut really short but when it started coming out in earnest the hairdresser sorted out my wig and then shaved my head, which was not as traumatic as I'd feared though I don't look at myself in a mirror without a head covering. I feel confident going out wearing the wig as no stranger would realise it isn't real hair.
Fortunately no one has said to my face anything about being brave etc as I wouldn't react well to that (or talk of a cancer journey). Much better to concentrate on the usual aspects of life and enjoy life, friends and family.

amberlight · 18/08/2013 10:47

Am also Shock about the P and F words on the facebook status, Malt. If any of them do start also offering you pink sparkly sh*t, I shall be rolling up my sleeves. Though I hope you have a splendid birthday. Smile

Gigondas · 18/08/2013 11:19

It's a bit much the language - I have one friend who goes in for this a lot. She is also great one for the have you tried this supplement etc. she also bought me a subscription to zest magazine (which I think is a crock of shit anyway) . It's all well meant , born of fear ( as mas said) but doesn't mean it's not damn annoying .

Shootingatpigeons · 18/08/2013 12:56

I agree with mas that it is fear talking, and the adoption of the Daily Fail rhetoric for Cancer, but it does add to the burden of dealing with Cancer . When my friend was ill and I was treated you used to get it from the medical professionals too, actually more than the head tilting, but Dr geek always did think it was bad science and research has proved him right. Sadly though he does seem strangely enamoured and flattered by a group of trophy wives who have donned pink feather boas and a lot of hairspray and little else to raise money for his research and has their picture on his wall and sends you their mail shots, bless.

Perhaps it is time to dust off rubys excellent Facebook status?

Will post pic of dress on Fbook for your amusement.

Shootingatpigeons · 18/08/2013 13:50

The little pigeons have been making me apply for itunes festival tickets and laughed uproariously at the thought I might get tickets for some of the concerts and showing me you tube videos I am clearly just not cool enough for, but couldn't help wondering if this from 2 mins 30 secs on might be what that hospital in Bloomsbury might be like when gigs is fully bionificated Grin

Gigondas · 18/08/2013 14:54

That just posts thru to something saying me with a mullet pigeons - that what you meant? Wink

Had lovely trip out with the little gigs sis gig and mr gig and managed to rescue mobile phone from mr gig pocket before it went home.

Now just got to battle nurse rude and incompetent for next drugs fix.

That FB status was a good one ruby tho.

KurriKurri · 18/08/2013 15:46

Afternoon all - just dashing on to say happy birthday Malt, have a lovely day, I don't really understand FB statuses (I though it was just for saying whether you are married or single - clearly not, - I must stop being an old fart and get myself on FB) but if they are annoying you and all about pink crap and 'fighting' talk - just ignore. I think people like to believe they have some control over life's curve balls, - I'm sure there is some psychological theory about it actually which I once learned but have now forgotten!

Hair loss is crap and miserable, but it will come back - and actually once the chemo stops it starts reappearing quite quickly and is very soft and downy (watch out for people trying to stroke your head!)

Waving to all, glad you got a trip out Gig, good luck with awkward nurse, and hope you are feeling reasonably comfortable today.

Sorry for brief post - I took a tablet last night for my shingles pain (post herpetic neuralgia) as after four nights of wanting to pull my head off with the pain I couldn't stand any more, the down side of the tablet is that it makes my brain completely fugged for the whole day afterwards. (Is fugged a word? - if it isn't it should be), so I hold off taking it until I get completely desperate.

Gigondas · 18/08/2013 16:42

Afternoon kurri- think you are right about thinking people like to think can influence things. I know that I had to get my head round that at dx.

You know your pain drug has a more refined sister that i am on (Nortrytptiline ). It has less of the hangover effect but still works well so maybe could ask ? It does work a treat with the achy nerve tingles in my arm.

KurriKurri · 18/08/2013 17:17

Thanks Gig - I will ask GP about that, I really feel so rubbish the day after amytrip. that its not practical if I have anything on, - I took it last night knowing that it didn't matter much if I just lazed about today!

malteserzz · 18/08/2013 17:22

Kurri yes get yourself on to Facebook it is good for passing the time ! People update their status to all sorts of things eg I'm eating a cheese sandwich or I'm at the pub !
Was dreading today but it's been fine, was nice just having a small amount of people round, nice weather for a BBQ and the kids all played together
All gone home now so I'm chilling

Gigondas · 18/08/2013 17:24

Did you get any good presents malt?

malteserzz · 18/08/2013 17:47

Had a pandora bead, bottle of baileys to help me sleep Grin lots of relaxing bath and body stuff, nice pictures and photo frames, chocolate, wine etc
Ds has been invited to sleep at his friends tonight so will have a nice relaxing evening to round it all off Smile

kitkat1967 · 18/08/2013 17:52

Evening all. Well out of the blue I spent last night and today in onc dept due to high temp. Had iv antibiotics (twice) and 10 hr potassium drip then chest xray today (due to cough) and rather shockingly onc came in to see me today. Anyway have escaped now so home with another course of anti b's. Wbc OK so still on course for chemo on Thurs.

gig I could not sleep so watched loads of greys anatomy - am well into series 3 but Meredith is annoying me more and more.

And finally happy birthday to malt.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/08/2013 18:02

ooer kitkat -hope you're feeling ok and that chemo will stay on course for Thursday...

malteserzz · 18/08/2013 18:14

Mas enjoy the meditation
