Good luck tomorrow Betsey - will be thinking of you x

was it your b'day jane? - many happy returns if it was ,

My reputation as cat nip to old men was enhanced today when I managed to pick up an elderly gentleman at my art club this afternoon. He is very sweet and keen to show me his etchings oil paintings. His name is Tony, Dh is not beside himself with jealousy Grin

Copt - v. Envy of Star trek movie, - DD and I want to go when we get time.
Also love the fact that you casually toss into the convo that you dived to see the Mary Rose in situ Grin

Malt hope you are wearing dark glasses to protect from the glare of Peter Andre!

BetsyBoop · 30/05/2013 23:06

Thanks for all the good wishes. :)

15 or so hours to go. Off to bed and (hopefully) sleep.

Hello every-one

Can I ask who this thead is for? Any-one with cancer? Cancer patient carers? or specifically for breast cancer?

Thank you

coorong · 31/05/2013 06:19

Hello itsallabout we are all going through some sort of treatment for some sort of cancer - how can we help?

Gigondas · 31/05/2013 06:47

Grin At malt-Peter really loves his kids you know.

Am laughing at kurri as a magnet for silver foxes.

Feeling very stiff today and my leg scar is leaking ( I haven't beaten hnd record on wound healing yet). Am debating If I feel up to trip out or limit myself to shops and coffee. Am inspired topsy by you to get some new nail varnish. They also have v. Nice stripey tops in mas.

Big gig being grumpy so could be a long day...

jchocchip · 31/05/2013 07:30

Gig- sound like you should have a rest today. Nice coffee cake and nail varnish sounds about right.
Hi itsallabout. Feel free to dive into the thread.
+ve vibes to betsy for today.
Grin at kk catnip. Speaking of cats dh just let ours in so there goes my lie in...

trice · 31/05/2013 07:46

I slept through the night! Hurrah!

Today I am filling in a dla form. I asked Dh if he and the nurse can do it together then I will sign it. I don't want to spend ages going on about what I can't do. It will make me feel crap. He doesn't get it. He says its just a form. I am very careful in maintaining my approach of Laa Laa Laa it's not happening!

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/05/2013 07:46

Itsallabout feel free to join in- it;s meant for anyone and any cancer -you're most welcome.
Nail varnish and stripey top shopping sounds the very thing gig - hope leg scar so rts itself out soon.
Happy birthday to junior jchoc
Good vibes whizzing to betsey

topsyturner · 31/05/2013 07:53

Trice Macmillan will fill the dla forms in for you , if you want ?
I understand about not wanting to , it depressed the hell out of me when I did mine !

Right , I have to get going .
Doing the mumsnet meet up at 10.30
If I'm not back this afternoon , I've been kidnapped by Hairy Handed Truckers ..... Grin

Hope everyone has a lovely day x

trice · 31/05/2013 08:50

Nice Rodgers from Chic on radio 4 just now, they asked him how he dealt with cancer, he said "You know Finding Nemo?" Just keep swimming."

That is one of my mantra. I also like "The only way out is through" which I got from Margaret Atwood.

Do you have any mantra (not sure of the plural, what language does mantra come from anyway? Chemo brain fog) that help you?

trice · 31/05/2013 08:51

Have fun with the hairy handed truckers Topsy.

topsyturner · 31/05/2013 09:37

I'm very fond of "just keep swimming"
Also "aaaah feck it"
Grin

On the bus , on my way to the Hairy Handed Truckers .
Think I will treat myself to some new eye liner whilst in town .
Been watching YouTube tutorials on eye make up and am feeling inspired !

malteserzz · 31/05/2013 10:04

Morning all
Think I took 2 sleeping pills last night by mistake. You know how you do something then can't remember if you did it or not. Then I couldn't sleep so thought I couldn't have done and took another. Feel ok but slept for ages and feel a bit groggy this morning. Might give them to dh to dish out instead. Have had the odd thought of can't face this and would be easier to take them all too ( never would but thought has been there) so might be safer.

Topsy good luck at the meet hope you find some lovely people
Gigs I agree a rest day would be a good idea, maybe just nip out for nail varnish though ! I do love PA I know he's orange and cheesy and a bit thick but his hearts in the right place( and his abs!)
Itsallabout let us know if we can help
Trice yay to sleeping through the night !Understand about the form
Morning to everyone else. Ive got a friend coming soon so better get dressed !

Copthallresident · 31/05/2013 10:05

Did someone have some of that Cadbury's with jelly beans and candy?

Big Copt home for a week Grin so last night was girlie night with Bridget Jones, Thai takeaway and champagne Grin And we have tickets for Time for Change concert tomorrow Grin when Beyonce Madonna etc are playing Twickers Grin Twickers has not been so exciting since we had Tom Jones and Katherine Jenkins at the Help for Heroes concert Shock (and we had to watch KJ as she was performing with Spellbound and one of Little Copts friends is in Spellbound.) ..... Still whatsit Inglesias's bum made up for it later Grin

KK I was so not being cool mentioning diving the Mary Rose, imagine me typing it in the manner of the overexcited history geek I am, you could only see a metre ahead but it was still an experience of a lifetime.

Do see film, especially if a bit of a Trekkie as lots of references, even a Tribble, and Benedict is very bad indeed Grin

itsallabout please do join us if you want help, advice, support, chocolate. Lots of us here have experienced the bugger that is Cancer and it actually feels like some good can come of it if we can help others in the same situation

Trice we took Big Copt to see The Lion King aged 2 going on 3 and a couple of days later when she was doing her escapology act in the supermarket trolley (she was an avid practitioner, used to have to use three harnesses to keep her in her buggy Blush ) I got so exasperated and fed up of "looks" from old ladies that I leaned in and whispered that I was going to count to 3 and if she didn't sit down..... She said " Ha, I laugh in the face of danger" Grin so when the time came seemed as good a mantra as any......

gigs stripey top shopping sounds good, for piss up meet up?

For everyone's amusement that nasty Mas made me seek out a photo of that caravan when I posted picture of Big Copt assaulting a chipmunk at Disney. My eyes still haven't recovered, I just can't tell Little Copt who is lover of art she was conceived amidst such deplorable taste Shock www.tripadvisor.co.uk/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g226865-d564634-i52555103-Disney_s_Davy_Crockett_Ranch-Marne_la_Vallee_Seine_et_Marne_Ile_de_France.html#51571380

Where is smee? I hope all is Ok?

I also hope topsy survives the hairy truckers, just take a supply of Yorkie bars.....

OP posts:
malteserzz · 31/05/2013 11:04

Copt I had the chocolate but it's all gone sorry
I bloody hate KJ, the other one I could swing for is that Kate from the advert Kate still looks like Kate
F off Kate !
Wow it's sunny ! Off to sit in the garden Smile

KurriKurri · 31/05/2013 11:47

Smee is in that there Germany atm - seeing the sights of Berlin, back today IIRC.

I have had the chocolate, my conclusion - not enough popping candy - unfortunately I had to eat the whole lot to confirm my suspicions.

loving the mantras from everyone, - I had a little notebook I kept in the early days where I noted down everything that I found 'inspiring' (for want of a better word) or just sensible. I must see if I can find it.

topsy have fun with the hairy handed truckers, sad men in underpants, poo trolls and the rest. (actually you will come back full of cake having had a riotous time, and meet some fun folk)

Itsallabout - we are for anyone with any cancer, please do join us if you thing we can help, you will be very welcome, - we may not necessarily have knowledge of a specific type of cancer, but we know all about waiting for results, going through chemo and rads. and the generally shitness of it all - so it's a good place to have a moan or a rant and have a bit of hand holding and BrewSmile

Gig - rest day with coffee and pottering round shops sound good, I am wearing some alarming purple nail varnish atm.

trice - def. get someone to fill in the forms for you - those kind of forms are bloody depressing, I think they make you feel worse that you actually do simply by making you list it.

Why do all these appalling women have the same name as me???? - I am not appalling - I don't do cod opera singing nor do I looks the same after two kids, cancer treatment and fifty years of cake consumption (in fact it is Dh who looks the same after 30 yrs of marriage - presumably he has a portrait in the attic - I don't know because I don't clean up there - too busy scoffing chocolate and warming up my maaaaaaaaaaaaahvelous voice)

Sending massive good vibes to betsey today. x

waving to all, - any rainbow cake left jane?

Gigondas · 31/05/2013 11:49

Yes to piss up meet up Copt -will pm you. I did buy nail varnish, stripy top and other tops and handbag and Am now reviving myself with fancy cake (see FB). Kids at zoo and very excited as its feeding time. Of course am also studying whilst doing all this..I should rest tho as wound open again. I think medicinal Wine later tho .

Am Envy about Star Trek as fancy seeing that along with a bunch of other Films out at the minute. Will end up wwaiting til can hire them tho .

Do you ever read the threads on here about Peter malt? People get way to involved in detail of his life and taking sides.

My saying is a Churchill one "if you are going thru hell keep going".

have you got hospital bag planned and packed with treats malt? Can I pass on a tip for coping with general anaesthetic as can make you constipated. My dietician says chewing gum after helps get digestion moving .

Gigondas · 31/05/2013 11:53

Agree about form filling - I can't come plete blue badge as so Sad but now I think of it will pop to Macmillan centre and get help next week (they are really nice at hospital as put me together after I heard mets dx and was alone. Lovely lovely woman fed me Jaffa cakes and made me feel better).

AmSmile at Copt watching kj- that's a night of your life you won't get back. Like when dh made me watch deep purple...

Talking of which it's dh birthday on mMonday - shall I get him some fake tan and a chest wig to go with his "tache?

BetsyBoop · 31/05/2013 12:10

just under 2hrs until my appt now, and I'm starting to feel a bit jittery...

thanks for all the good wishes, you are all so lovely :)

will post an update later, but I might not get chance until after kids have gone to bed, just so you aren't wondering where I am Grin

Lovely sunshine here, I hope everyone else is equally lucky :)

Gigondas · 31/05/2013 12:13

Fingers crossed for you Betty xx

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 31/05/2013 12:18

Good morning all,

Enjoy the sunshine malt it does sound like it might be an idea for DH to take responsibility for the tablets for now. Also might be worth talking to your nurse or GP about those thoughts?

Betsy I hope all goes well with your appointment, will be thinking of you.

Shock at the caravan copt pleeeeease tell me you didn't have the giant balloon Minnie staring at you during?! That would be such a mood killer Grin

topsy have fun with the truckers Grin

trice yay for sleeping! It's not really a mantra but in difficult moments I often think of the serenity prayer (God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference) I'm not really sure if I even believe but I find it helpful. Also there's this Thomas the Tank Engine story where one of the trains goes up a difficult hill or something and he keeps saying "I can and I will" over and over again, that's my other sort of mantra Blush

itsallabout welcome. This thread is for all types of cancer :) I think there's another thread in the health topic for people caring for someone with cancer if that's what you're looking for.

I have carrot cake for the trolley.
