For SoftStuff, tyedye and anyone else who wants to join.

The rules are that you HAVE to sign in every night to let us know TRUTHFULLY how much you have drunk. You need to let us know your triggers too. So if you resisted for 12 hours but then cracked and had a beer - what finally snapped?

We'll be here to give you encouragement, support, advice and opinions.

themoon, you see, you DO get effects the next day!!! I'd class shaking as part of a hangover ...

tyedye - how are you doing? lots of those things apply to me too like drinking the same things and same amount regardless of the situation etc., etc. Not so much the physical withdrawal symptoms right now as I'm on, for me, a low alcohol input (my two bloody cans a day most days a week) but definitely have applied to me in the past. At my worst point I had to start the day with a large swig of dark rum before I could function. Then, like a snowball, it would escalate throughout the day until hey presto a bottle would be gone. Really scary. Right now I couldn't drink that much as it does have a bad effect on me these days that it never used to. Which is why I worry I've blown my liver.

tyedye · 21/05/2006 22:47

Shit, actually, thank you for asking.mother drove past me today without acknowledging my presence, yet another reason i medicate myself with booze-you couldnt make it up. Am pissed, good luck girls,SOFTSTUFF,ARE YOU OK?
One day"you? emailed you today,kokeshi,you rock you,(maudlin drunken lovey moment....................)moony,you star.Grin

themoon66 · 22/05/2006 11:05

Martian. Luckily I've never had the urge to drink in the mornings. Lunchtime drinks are pretty much a no-no for me too as they make me too whoozy and headachyfor the rest of the day. Its when it gets to 7.30pm-ish in the evenings that my mind starts thinking ..... Mmmm, time to relax. And relaxation means somthing good on telly, and a glass in my hand.

Bumblelion · 22/05/2006 12:44

Time for me to log in and record my weekend.

Did not drink indoors all last week (until yesterday Sad.

After my children went to their dad's for the night on Friday night I went to a local pub with my friend and her son. It is not our usual pub (and to be honest it was a bit rough) but it is the only local pub where you can take children.

Had 4 vodka and diet coke. My boyfriend had gone out with his friends and my friend's boyfriend had gone out with his friends. My boyfriend was coming home in a cab at 8:45 to pick me up. Got home at 8:15 and was ready by 8:45 (showered, changed, make-up, etc.) although he was a bit later.

Went off into our local town and had quite a fair bit to drink. To be honest, I lost count but was definitely a fair amount.

Had a really good night - made a change for me to go out of the door without being "half p*ssed" although having had 4 vodka's, perhaps I should have been!

Felt really rough Saturday morning, I don't normally get hangovers but had a raging headache but I think that was because I had not drunk alcohol (or that many caffeine based drins - no coke) during the week.

Saturday didn't drink indoors even though my brother popped round - I live in Surrey, he lives in Birmingham but was down for the weekend.

Went food shopping with my mum yesterday, gave in and bought a 1/2 bottle of vodka. Start this about 5:30 and finished it off before I went to bed.

Okay, it is not good to drink 1/2 a bottle in one evening but at least I don't have any alcohol in the house now and will abstain until the weekend again.

Okay, I have let myself down by having too much on Friday night and also drinking yesterday but this is another new week and I will not drink during the week.

How was everyone else's weekend?

themoon66 · 22/05/2006 13:15

Bumblelion.... well done!!!! Smile

Like you, i seem to manage ok in the week, but then it all falls apart come the weekend. I've been consoling myself today with the thought that 'at least I have more non-drinking nights than drinking nights now'. Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs - no drink in last 2 weeks. Fri, Sat, Sun - drink, but less than i used to.

Well done everyone... tyedye - hope you are feeling ok today [hug]

butty · 23/05/2006 13:35

Hi all, hope you are all ok,

well, i got totally wrecked on friday, but ok, i knew i was going to.

A bit of shocking news though, as i am starting college full time in september, i really need an evening job and on sunday i have accepted the position as part time bar maid 4 evenings per weekShock

But there is an upside, you see, i can't drink when i am the one serving, plus i have to take my car as quite a distance from my house, so i shall see how things go, but i need money to start coming in as my redundency pay is quickly vanishingSad so back to the grind it is.!!!!

Nice to see that so many of you are doing so well, keep up the good work.

Butty.xxx

themoon66 · 23/05/2006 13:52

Just a quick report..... I didnt drink last night Smile

Good luck butty with that new job. xxx

SoftStuff · 23/05/2006 14:27

Hi. Sorry i've not been back recently, I've not been able to get online. I had quite a good week last week but for various reasons I completely crashed over the weekend and had a particularly bad night last night. I had to see my cpn again this morning and was still drunk. He worked out the units I drunk (approx) which was scary and suggested I contacted AA. I'm mortified.

SoftStuff · 23/05/2006 14:36

Meant to mention, not that it really matters, it was a year ago last night/this morning since the rape happened. It was that that I was trying to block out, it just hurt so much thinking about it, esp on top of the other things.

I really am going to fight back now, I'm going to sort all of this and stick 2 fingers up to all the negative, now insignificant people, that have touched MY life.

Piffle · 23/05/2006 18:08

I'm new to the thread, need some kind of culpability angle :)
Am needing to keep it to the odd one or two at the weekend, need to get dry during the week.
I gave up for 6 weeks after xmas. It's just like a bad habit!
Nothing today 1/2 bottle of white shared with dp yesterday and a few beers each night of the weekend - they were deserved as we had been digging our garden and were proper knackered!
The needs gets me at about 4.30pm... as I'm cooking dinner - if I get throught to after dd is in bed I no longer want one, however if I am drinking by then I cannot stop Shock

blueteddy · 23/05/2006 18:20

Oh, softstuff, I hope you are ok.Sad
It sounds like you are doing quite well on the drink front. I can see why you maybe drunk more than you should have last night, I think I would have been the same. Mind you, sometimes you end up feeling worse after 1 too many drinks, don't you?
Really hope you are okay & hope to see you back on line very soon.
I am thinking of you.xx
I have not been on here for a while, as I seem to be failing miserably atm! Have not drunk loads, but have felt the need for a couple of glasses of wine a night.
Welcome, piffle.Smile

tyedye · 23/05/2006 18:20

Hi piffle,il be back tomorrow,WELCOMESmile

martian · 23/05/2006 18:34

Hi piffle! Smile

softstuff, you've got a heck of a lot to deal with. When I started drinking more heavily about 6 months before getting pregnant, I was also dealing with something very traumatic. What were your units by the way? Just wondered what constitutes 'very scary' ... Keep talking to us? We're all, more or less, in the same boat.

Piffle · 23/05/2006 18:57

I posted without seeing softstuffs post
big hugs to you, one day at a time, only can climb one mountain at once honey....

themoon66 · 25/05/2006 10:32

Hi everyone. I'm still staying off the alcohol on weekdays thank god. DH has been working away down in London this week, so its been tempting to while away the lonliness when DS is in bed... but I've stayed strong!

He came back last night, late and all stressed. First thing he did was pop open a beer, and then left the glass right in front of me!!! I said 'shift yer lager coz I can bloody smell it'. He knows I'm trying to be good in the week, so he said 'sorry, i know WE shouldnt be drinking in the week, but I feel I need it after the week i've had!' His train was late too... stuck on the track going nowhere for over an hour! I'd drink more than one can if I had to put up with that I must admit... so I don't critisise him.

Going on holiday next week... egypt. I hope there won't be too much temptation there, given that it's a muslim country and all that.

woodywoodpecker · 27/05/2006 10:42

i have been following this thread with great interest. I guess I would describe myself as a habitual drinker. No reason for it, simply habit.

So this week I didn't go for the bottleopener and was good but blew it last night and now i have the hangover from hell

How is everyone else doing

themoon66 · 27/05/2006 13:17

Hi Woodywoodpecker. Everyone seems to have gone a it quiet recently. I am hoping that's because they are all doing so well that they don't feel the need to come here at the moment Smile
I had 2 cans of stella last night, instead of a meal Blush
hope everyone else is ok? tyedye? softstuff? butty?

martian · 27/05/2006 18:58

themoon, I'm not doing good or bad or anything really. Just the same! Two cans of lager a day. Well, at least I haven't gone over my 'limit' ... For what it's worth ... I've been wondering about the others too.

themoon66 · 27/05/2006 19:32

Am on my first glass of chilled cava. I guess I will finish the bottle tonight, but I'm not too worried coz I've been soooo good all week.

woodywoodpecker · 27/05/2006 20:27

i think i am in big trouble. Last evening I opened a bottle of wine whilst cooking dinner but I knew dh would be annoyed when he came in as I had two large glasses so stupid, stupid, stupid I went off and opened another bottle and poured a glass for him and one for me and put the other half bottle in the cupboard. For whatever reason, probly cause I didn't have a drink all week, the wine did go a bit to quickly to my head so he had to have known that I had more before he came in. Thing is I went to retrieve said half bottle this evening and it isn't there so he must hav found it and put it somewhere.

martian · 27/05/2006 21:50

... or drunk it himself ... Grin

What's your usual drinking pattern woody? What's making you decide to try to cut down?

woodywoodpecker · 27/05/2006 23:07

Hi Martian. As I said in my 1st post I am what I would term a "habitual" drinker. You know open a bottle when cooking dinner which would be most nights. So when someone mentioned units I started to add up and thought "uh oh"! I don't get bladdered every night and am mostly competus mentus bar the odd night.

But there is the odd night that I open the xtra bottle and hide it Blush

tyedye · 27/05/2006 23:30

Im still here, stunned at the level of resentment i m living with.got nowhere else to go,pissed of course.

tyedye · 27/05/2006 23:32

Hi woody.

martian · 28/05/2006 13:25
