For SoftStuff, tyedye and anyone else who wants to join.

The rules are that you HAVE to sign in every night to let us know TRUTHFULLY how much you have drunk. You need to let us know your triggers too. So if you resisted for 12 hours but then cracked and had a beer - what finally snapped?

We'll be here to give you encouragement, support, advice and opinions.

OP posts:

No booze=no sleep for me!
Have ordered several novels from amazon to shut my weary brain up a bit!good luck all for the weekend!

themoon66 · 05/05/2006 20:59

So far, so not-so-good. Did my morrisons big shop and ended up drinking Grolsch whilst putting shopping away. I'm on antibiotics so I mixed a bit of lemonade with it and called it shandy, thereby fooling my stupid brain into thinking i havent had a drink at all. God what an admission!! Now I really, really, really want a proper drink - 100% Grolsch. And i'm damn well gonna have it. Sorry [shame]

blueteddy · 05/05/2006 21:33

Not doing well tonight, as am now on bacardi #4!

themoon66 · 05/05/2006 21:35

Mumsnet surfing has kept me from drinking as much as i normally would. If i leave this seat then DS will jump on computer to start his on-line gaming, so I dare not move to go get a drink.

blueteddy · 05/05/2006 21:36

Well done! I wish I had been good tonight!

themoon66 · 05/05/2006 21:44

I need a wee now, so will have to leave this seat. I'd better sign out of mumsnet so DS cant see this thread about how mad his mum actually is! byee bye and good luck for the weekend all of you. x

tyedye · 05/05/2006 21:58

tyedye · 05/05/2006 22:00

blueteddy · 05/05/2006 22:07

I am okay thanks, tyedye. have failed on the cutting down challange again, but hey ho there is always next week!
How are you?

tyedye · 05/05/2006 22:19

crappy, eldest DS sided with bastard ex in access/safety over arrangements/dispute.details boring but feeling stabbed in the back by my own child!(15)Angryjust another excuse to drink too much,i am pathetic.

souvenir · 05/05/2006 22:21

good evening everyone. I hope you don't mind me butting in? I'm on my 3rd bottle of Becks which is pretty normal for me at this time ...

Have any of you had any physical symptoms that tell you your drinking is doing you no good?

How long have you all been drinking? I know you all posted earlier but it's hard to go back and read this long thread again. Especially after my 3rd beer!

tyedye, when I was drinking really heavily pre-pregnancy it was amazing how little effect alcohol had on me ... Sad

blueteddy · 05/05/2006 22:22

No you are not pathetic. Jez, I can find any old excuse for a drink. My boys (6 & 3) stress me out enough, I can't imagine what the pressures of a teenager are like.
Don't beat yourself up.

souvenir · 05/05/2006 22:22

tyedye, I've read your earlier posts and you don't sound pathetic to me. You sound like a sensitive person who's having a particularly rough time at the moment.

tyedye · 05/05/2006 22:24

I stopped drinking spirits many years ago as my kidneys/liver-area hurt like a bastard, and i kept waking up in places i had never seen before, but that is a whole other story!!!Blush

souvenir · 05/05/2006 22:24

blueteddy, I drink every day regardless of whether it's a good one or a bad one! I've given up giving myself excuses.

souvenir · 05/05/2006 22:25

tyedye, how long have you been drinking fairly heavily? Have you had your liver etc. checked by the GP at any point?

blueteddy · 05/05/2006 22:25

Well done for stopping the spirits! I am on the spirits tonight, but for the first time in a week.

tyedye · 05/05/2006 22:28

Thank You!!im heading for mildly sloshed, listening to DP snoring on the monitor so if i disappear,he is stirring!!I am having a crap time, have been for quite some years.
I am,however,in awe of,and very grateful(generally)for my 4 fab kids!!Smile

souvenir · 05/05/2006 22:28

Do you drink large or small measures of spirits blueteddy?

I just daren't have anything like that around as i can drink it so quickly and I do love the feeling of spirits as they go down. Really warming and relaxing. Beer's nothing in comparison but just stops me feeling so guilty!

souvenir · 05/05/2006 22:30

tyedye ... you have a baby monitor for your dp??? Grin that's a new level of devotion ...

tyedye · 05/05/2006 22:31

Wouldnt dare get my liver checked,y GP"s son mates with mine, social(ish)couldnt bear the shame!village life etc.....i am fairly healthy though,i know what to look for if i am having major woories, excuses?!!

blueteddy · 05/05/2006 22:31

Sorry to hear you are having a bad time. It is easy to turn to drink when things are bad, I know.
I don't class myself as an alchoholic, but I do drink more than I should & I use drink to numb any problems I may have, which in reality doesn't really help matters.

tyedye · 05/05/2006 22:32

Souvenier, you just made me spit my wine out my nose!!!!!monitor for baby an DP!and the difference is?!

blueteddy · 05/05/2006 22:32

In answer to your Q - large measuresBlush

souvenir · 05/05/2006 22:41

tyedye, my dd doesn't have a beard and is only 3 foot tall. But apart from that, yes, I guess she and dp are rather similar ... Grin

blueteddy, how much do you drink on average then? Sorry I keep asking so many questions ...

tyedye I live in London so I don't have the 'village' 'everybody knows everybody' vibe. But I do feel under scrutiny by my GP practice because pre-pregnancy I was known there to have a serious problem. I once went to see one of the GPs about a stomach upset and he smelled some alcohol on my breath and immediately notified the HVs!!
