there are a great deal of crumbs and and sprinkly things from doughnuts where ds has eaten in my car - mind you,he leaves trails of food wherever he goes.

KurriKurri · 25/09/2012 18:51

Glad your appointment went well Smee - phew Smile

gracie - I wonder if viruses is the problem with mine? - it might just be that it's very old and decrepit though.

invicta - I'm pleased your rads are underway - and you are now a tattooed lady Grin - you will soon get through them, even though it's a bit of a pain going to the hospital everyday.

Our car is currently full of bits of bark as DH took some old wood to the tip at the weekend and didn't clean the car afterwards Hmm

I was supposed to go to an art club talk tonight, but I've cancelled - have felt a bit under the weather for the last couple of days, and now it hurts when I pee - so I'm guessing urine infection. Bugger. Will have to tote my little pot of wee to the nurse in the morning. (lucky old nurse I say) Grin

NedSchneebly · 25/09/2012 19:21

Hi all - Mum here and putting DS to bed, so can pop on and try to catch up a bit Smile

I had my second electric guitar lesson this evening - I am very a little bit shit, but quite enjoying it! Dan, my teacher, has changed the way I play all the chords, so I am rather starting from scratch, rather than feeling quite proud at how much I thought I knew! We are learning Eva Cassidy and Status Quo Grin

smee Smile for paranoia put in its place, but Angry for poor DS. SENCO sounds like a lazy bugger to me. Really happy to advise or be any help if I can - PM/ FB me if you want to.

MAS definitely not silly to worry about hair colouring - important to do the things that make us feel better. Hope Waitrose cheered you up and you are feeling OK. You are being so brave, you're amazing Smile xxxx

invicta well done for getting first rads done. Sorry to nag, but hope you are moisturising lots and lots? It really helps protect the skin. Take it easy love x

kurri sorry to hear you are having waterworks trouble. Hot water bottle and early night for you, then? Take it easy, lovely lady, and get thee to a medical person in the morning.

sometimes woah, that sounds pricey! Are there other places you can go to get quotes? Not something you can do yourself, I guess. Fingers crossed you can find something a bit more affordable. Failing that, I am sure we could all chip in for some new crayons?

gracie new car sounds lovely. I would have a no eating rule if I had cream seats too, but with one small boy and two Jack Russells, it would all end in tears!

gig how are you doing love? And you, OTM?

Waves to topsy, amber, sparkle and anyone else around this chilly evening. Great British Bake Off soon!

graciesmall09 · 25/09/2012 19:56

Yes I fear my no eating rule won't last long and considering I have a black lab who loves mud my nice sparkly car may be manky less sparkly in no time.

Ouch kurri best get that sorted soon as it can leave you feeling pretty horrid.

gigs you are a bit quiet today I hope all is ok with you.

Gigondas · 25/09/2012 20:32

Am doing ok thanks but phone was playing up earlier. Watching gbbo which is making me feel most hungry and I have Wine. Arm less sore too.

New car sounds nice gracie

Rest up kurri and will pm you that recipe tomorrow .

sometimes that quote sounds a joke!

invicta good it is started and Grin about tattoos . I was quite disappointed when thought might not have one.

ned that all sounds quite impressive with the music.

invicta · 25/09/2012 21:57

MAS, Smee, Gig, Ned, Kurri

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

To answer your questions (in no particular order)

My radiotherapy lasts for three weeks. ie. every week day. The appointments are between 9-10am so convenient for the school run and work. The hospital is less then 15 minutes drive away, so easy to get to. The longest part of the whole process is finding a parking space (I'm entitled to reduced parking prices because of the radiotherapy).

Not one- but three tattoos. My DH reckons I should get them changed into something more decorative afterwards Any suggestions?

Thanks for the moisturising reminder. I'd forgotten about it. I shall slap on the aqueous cream tonight.

Does visiting seniors schools class as 'taking-it-easy'?!

When I was undergoing radiotherapy, all I could think of it was 'Were my underarms hairy?!' My sister heard that you shouldn't shave your underarms. Is this true? I avoided around the scar but is the other area okay.

I'm impressed with how fast moving this forum is, and how you are all so good in responding to everyone's individual comments and concerns. Its really nice to see.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/09/2012 22:12

I was told not to shave invicta,so I didn't on one side !
smee forgot to say yay for nothing to worry about with bony bit - Smile
ned Waitrose was cheering -I go a little mad in there -I bought jelly and custard and capers !

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/09/2012 22:13

hope you're ok kk - wee infections not nice.

jchocchip · 25/09/2012 22:30

invicta visiting senior schools does not count as taking it easy, can be very stressful. Have you got a good choice?

smee yay for bony bit being ok.

I love Waitrose, may get to go there this weekend - off to visit
Mum.

very tired, nnight everyone.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/09/2012 07:35

ned also meant to say, very impressed by your electric guitar playing- ! I have toyed with starting classical guitar lessons again but I fear that I have forgotten so much and picked up v bad lazy habits which I feel will be hard to lose - dad says I should try something completely different like the saxophone ! I think I'd be better at something brassy or woodwindy. Dad loves his oboe but says it's very hard.

overthemill · 26/09/2012 08:02

morning all, will post now and go back to bed. feeling bit odd today. dd has drugs called somethingorother acid but not ponstan (I used to have that to!) cos she has severe asthma and its a relative of nurofen, a no no for asthma. she still feels crap but she is in bed with hot water bottle. dh not being sympathetic but i remember how crap it makes you feel and she is still learning how to manage. doesnt help that her budgie literally fell off his perch yesterday ..poor dear.

hope you are all ok today, weather doesn't help anyone feel cheerful, does it? need to think of something nice to look forward to. does nayon have exciting plans i can get vicarious pleasure from?

mas no hair dye, i am certain until proper new growth

graciesmall09 · 26/09/2012 08:58

Aw otm hope the rest in bed makes you feel a little better and poor DD, pretty bad day for her.

ned also very impressed at your electric guitar playing. I haven't a musical bone in my body so am always impressed with others' abilities.

invicta not sure about the shaving. I had chemo so that is not an issue for me. I am sure the radiographers don't blink an eye, they will have seen all shapes and sizes I'm sure.

Nothing exciting in the Gracie household today. Think I may need to dust as been putting it off due to the decorating but noticed DD has written her name in the dust on the table

Gigondas · 26/09/2012 09:09

Rest up otm - am feeling quite tired myself and can't tell If it's chemo or big gig (day one of the wake up clock experiment didnt work as came in at 5.30- which is bad enough but she is so awake and loud at that hour Smile).

smee am glad surgeons visit was so reassuring .

gracie was dd in the brownies - cant you encourage her to clean it herself Grin

Dragged myself up to town for therapist appointment and acupuncture but foresee a nap later.

smee · 26/09/2012 09:54

Blimey Gigs, that's an early appointment. Did the little Gig's help you get up.. Rest up and keep that arm improving. A snooze sounds in order to me. Smile

Invicta, I didn't shave on Rads. i used to take non-perfumed wipes with me, as I was so paranoid I'd smell. Keep drinking lots of water, as I was told that helps keep the skin too.

Ned, thanks I might well pm you about DS. Will have a think what I need to know and do that later. You're right the SENCo was a lazy oaf. Not to mention patronising..

Kurri hope you got your wee safely to the nurse. Sounds ouch, so rest up. Let DD wait on you. Smile

OTM, could you and your DD curl up and watch a film together under a duvet. Might be a nice way through it all. You'll need treats too am sure. Wink

MAS, I taught myself to play piano on chemo. Was brilliant as it took my mind of anxting. I reckon something easy and instant is the way. Not sure what that is though. Ned might know.

Gracie, dusting?! Shock

Better get on. Work to do. Hugs to all feeling low today from me. xx

graciesmall09 · 26/09/2012 10:38

Wow gigs am impressed that you have already been out for your appointments. Think a snooze will be a good idea (and definitely needed) after your early start. DD is a GB girl but loves dusting (doesn't take after her mum) Grin.

Think I may have to brave the shops today as fridge does resemble Old Mother Hubbard's cupboard.

Trying to organise my flu jab, anyone know should I wait until next week as I am on day 14 this week or would later in the week be ok?

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/09/2012 11:15

I'm about to dust and clean a bit upstairs before braving the rain !
Piano would be nice - I could pinch T's piano book
Poor otm - rest up definitely, you too gig
I have booked my flu jab- have one each yr anyway because of no spleen- it'll be during my second cycle, that's ok isn;t it ? I've also been told I need a meningitis jab by spleen nurse, but will check with onc.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/09/2012 11:17

bring the trolley over here !
