topsy house is very quiet. I am a saddo that likes to get back into routine. Hate the mammoth shirt ironing sessions though.

Gigondas · 03/09/2012 21:22

Shirt ironing Shock

Yes I liked cyclist - that other bloke has had 6 albums Confused

Yep worked out I iron 20 shirts a week and I don't even charge them.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/09/2012 22:06

fingers very crossed gracie !

topsyturner · 03/09/2012 22:37

Is now the right time to mention that DH does ALL our ironing Gracie ?

And on that note - goodnight Grin

jchocchip · 03/09/2012 22:43

Hello everyone - I found you. Had a lovely weekend in York with dh but came back with a cold. dd2 back at guides so Monday evenings a mad rush again. Cat a bit under the weather too, nothing specific, but wondering whether to take him to the vet for a check. missed new tricks, must try catch up tomorrow.

Hi to invicta the thread is very loosly tamoxifen related, I do take it, I've just had my first post-op mamogram as I'm 1 year post lumpectomy. I had a grade 2 lump, no node involvement so fairly straightforward radiotherapy and then back to work, hence not much time to spend on here. Lovely bunch of supportive peeps to chat to when you are going through it - either as distraction with virtual fbs on the best mumsnet teatrolley or for mutual support and answers to any questions you have.

OddGoldBoots · 04/09/2012 06:46

Oh a transporter would be very handy, amber, gig and ned - One day our childhood dreams about the year 2000 may belatedly come true.

Ironing, I try to get away with careful hanging a good shake where I can. Blush

First day back to school for dd (ds is off until Thurs) and my first day back to work today. It'll be good to get back to it all.

NedSchneebly · 04/09/2012 07:16

DS back to school this morning - have a very excited boy on my hands! His best friend has been in Australia for most of the summer so he is most looking forward to seeing his mate. I suspect the novelty of school will wear off quite quickly after that!

Ironing - mostly done by DH, but I have been known to wield an iron when the contents of the ironing crate reaches epic proportions. . .

Hi to invicta mostly we chat about random stuff that has nothing to do with tamoxifen or cancer or anything medical. But there's usually someone who's been through the same as you and can answer questions and understand what you're feeling.

oddgoldboots hope your first day back at work goes OK x

Waves to gig, topsy, gracie, jchoc, MAS, and anyone else I've missed. X x x

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/09/2012 07:18

I iron here, where necc, but not a favourite task..
Ds off to school tomorrow- hair cut today.

Gigondas · 04/09/2012 07:46

I never iron - it's dh or cleaner here .

Big gig got her meet the teacher thing today at school (although suspect she will be more interested in her friends) and is back on Thursday. I am still recovering from the eighth circle of hell experience that was getting her school shoes...

As usual I am here ridiculously early .
Settled in waiting room with a bucket large latte .
Would have got a doughnut too , but as its cardiology I thought it best not too . Too many patients been put on strict diets in here Grin

Laetissimus · 04/09/2012 09:22

Thinking of you topsy - enjoy the latte
x

Gigondas · 04/09/2012 09:33

I would eat the doughnut anyway - you can take one for the team so to speak and enjoy it for them.
What annoys me is when you settle down with your latte, doughnut and 2 month old magazine and then they call you in

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 04/09/2012 09:43

Have a doughnut for me topsy! I have started my boring exercise/ losing weight/ feeling fitter programme today - walked DS to school - 3.0km according to my new pedometer. Will do the same at pick up time. Maybe swimming later or tomorrow.

Have lots of jobs to do too - might have to make a list!

Hope you've got some sunshine?

topsyturner · 04/09/2012 10:13

Well the buggers did call me in mid slurp of my latte .
You put the scud on me Gigs !

On the bus on the way home with a carrier bag full of flapjacks .
Hope I don't get mugged !

Lovely and sunny here .

overthemill · 04/09/2012 10:24

morning! Had brilliant evening yesterday - we went out for dinner! amazing and i didn't fall asleep at the table. Today I too tackle huge pile that is ironing and finish the big cupboard started yesterday. It's wonderful to feel good, wonder if the buggers could just stop giving me chemo now Hmm

graciesmall09 · 04/09/2012 10:49

Well fingers crossed didn't work. Picc line not working again but they have decided no point in sending me up today as I was up last Tuesday and it had blocked again by this week. So I have to decide by next week if I just want them to pull the picc out and then have my last chemo via canula. I have absolutely rubbish veins so not sure what to do. Really would like to avoid another chest x-ray though as I have had quite a few and surely that can't be good.

Hope the ecg went well topsy.

Glad you enjoyed dinner otm and well done at staying awake Grin

Huge waves to everyone.

Gigondas · 04/09/2012 11:02

Hmm if you had asked me before last week I would have said Canula . Then I had one in for last couple of days of doses . It's fine for small things and saline but as also have small veins I have to say was bloody agony when they gave me some potassium infusion(I have no idea why I had to have this as by this point I just wanted to go home so they could have shoved bic ink in If it meant I got to go home.

topsy I am not sure I would mug for a flapjack- chocolate cake yes.

Am trying out fresh fig and almond cakes later so will report on whether they are worthy of fbs trolley and mugging people for.

otm it is annoying that you start to feel normal then it's back on the chemo wagon. Am cleaning out my cupboard and basically being normal . It helps to hold that in my head when am low as "these things will pass " idea.

Sometimesiwonder · 04/09/2012 13:19

Hi gracie and Gig - I too have tiny and not v good veins, but I had my chemo via canula - all of it. Was OK, but you do have to remind them to take their time over it Hmm

Agree the repeated chest x-rays are best avoided.

Have been off for a riotous weekend of parties in London so am absolutely wrecked, and having a fast day to try to ward off the worst of the excesses Envy

Is Smee due back from Oz yet? Envy

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/09/2012 14:21

waves to sometimes !!
Oh yes, smee should be back soon Smile
Bakingly hot here - ds has had hair cut and eaten a vast lunch of sushi and we might watch the paralympic swimming for a bit, trying to spot BIL and SIL in the audience.

Sometimesiwonder · 04/09/2012 14:37

Waves back, MAS!!!

Hot? hot? Bugger. It's grey and just sort of NOTHING here.

And I am trying very hard to avoid the FBS trolley. Absolutely ravenous. But I watched that Horizon programme about how 2 fast days a week can help you avoid big affluent society type diseases, and make you lose weight, and it looked interesting. So I'm doing it. It's HARD. This is my third fast day and it doesn't get any easier Sad

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/09/2012 14:47

ah, a facebook friend is also doing this- she's on day 2

Sometimesiwonder · 04/09/2012 15:03

How is she finding it? The hunger isn't constant, it seems to come in waves.

You don't half sleep well, though Confused
