Oh pink don't really know what to say. This is such a cruel disease and so unfair. Hugs to you and your family.

NedSchneebly · 05/09/2012 16:07

pink am so sorry to hear your news. Like Gig says, feel free to vent and be pissed off with the unfairness of it all. Bastard fucking cancer Sad just be good to yourself and give yourself time to come to terms with everything. Sending you massive hugs x x

topsyturner · 05/09/2012 16:21

(((((((((( Pink ))))))))))
Bastard fucking Cancer .
You are probably in shock right now . Not that I think news like this ever sinks in properly .
Be prepared to go through the complete range of emotions . When they told me about my secondaries and informed me that I would have aprox 2/3 years left , I was very calm .
Then heartbroken .
Then angry .
Then very very sad .

Eventually , it wasn't my first thought when I woke up in the mornings .

Give yourself time Pink , whatever you are feeling , it's ok to feel that way .

Xxx

OneInEight · 05/09/2012 17:22

Hugs Pink - so sorry to hear your news.

SparkleRainbow · 05/09/2012 18:13

Oh pink I am so so sorry. Damn this disease. I am sending you and your family all my love.

Big hugs to everyone, sorry I have been awol for so long.... that is the six weeks holidays for me, no chance of getting near the computer really.

OddGoldBoots · 05/09/2012 18:26

So sorry pink. xx

NedSchneebly · 05/09/2012 18:35

Waves to eight and sparkle - hope you're both doing OK? Good summer?

SparkleRainbow · 05/09/2012 18:55

Good summer, ds had pain issues and bits and bobs going on, but all in all a good summer. Little dd2 started nursery today, and loved it, happy to go back tomorrow..... how did that happen Sad

SparkleRainbow · 05/09/2012 18:56

Ds has been selected to go up to secondary school to have advanced maths lessons too......how did that happen ......my baby (ok he is 9, but still my baby!)

Gigondas · 05/09/2012 19:03

Sorry ds still having pain issues but great about Maths. big gig first day at big school
Tomorrow. I am more worried about if she will wear her uniform without ww3 breaking out than getting sentimental. Bad mummy

Pink, eek and heck and hugs and Brew and Wine, not in that order.
But also www.newscientist.com/article/mg21528785.400-folded-dna-becomes-trojan-horse-to-attack-cancer.html might be of use for your oncologist. They have just discovered how to ensure the body can't become immune to chemotherapy. No doubt there are nifty trials of some sort happening. Might be worth a thought.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/09/2012 20:07

oh pink I can't think of anything wise or comforting to say, just that we're always here for you and I'm sending much love and strength to you.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/09/2012 20:10

waves to eight and sparkle - wow, clever ds !
Hope all goes well with big gig tomorrow.

T has disappointing GCSE result in RS (a C) - he is capable of better- am going to have to switch into stern mother mode.

invicta · 05/09/2012 21:53

Wow, this is a fast moving thread.

Thank you to Gigond, MaryAS, AmberL, OverTM, GracieS, Jchochip your welcomes, and explanation of this thread. I'm sure I will find it useful.

So far the whole process has been okay. I actually find going to the dentist worse then the mammograms, biopsies etc,and it's amazing how easily i now flash my boob at complete strangers. Ie the doctors. I almost feel like I haven'thad cancer. Does that sound strange? I was never ill, my lump was quite small, and the urgey was only day surgery. Prior to my op, i thought ot would all take alot longer. I'm relieved not to be needing chemotherapy.

invicta · 05/09/2012 21:54

Ps. pink - forgot to say that I'm sorry to hear your news, and cyber hugs from me.

jchocchip · 05/09/2012 22:42

Oh bugger. so sad to hear that pink ((hugs))

topsyturner · 05/09/2012 22:51

I understand that feeling Invicta
All through my diagnosis and treatment I never really felt "ill" , so sometimes I feel like the cancer diagnosis thing must be a mistake !

jchocchip · 05/09/2012 22:54

hi invicta I know what you mean, I went for my 1 year checks recently and didn't have any problem with the boob flashing. I wasn't ill either and the op happened so fast I didn't have time to think about it. Radiotherapy can be quite tiring, especially if you have to travel far, but it was over quickly. I was a bit sore towards the end, slather on plenty of aqueous for moisturising and I found cheap primark cotton vests with a shelf were great for when I didn't want the rub of a bra.

nighty night everyone, I've stayed up too late as usual!

jchocchip · 05/09/2012 22:55

Off to hospital for CT this morning .
Wound is smeggy aswell , so will nip across to the clinic and ask if anyone can take a look (I mean a medic , not a randomer Grin )

Mas hope you get T sorted out .
Sometimes it takes a jolt for them to realise they need to put some effort in !

Anyone else with apts today ?
I shall be taking the bus today , so frequent reminders from you all telling me not to sing out loud to whatever rubbish is on iPhone shuffle would be greatly appreciated Grin

Gigondas · 06/09/2012 07:54

I think you should perhaps offer to show wound off on bus Grin

Good luck tho- my ct scan tomorrow. Hoping you get someone competent at doing the dye as they always have butchers at my hospital.

I found that there was almost none of my music and a lot of big gigs music when I was out yesterday.

OP posts:
topsyturner · 06/09/2012 08:07

Hmmm , I found the sound track to Zelda (theme tune to one of DSs computer games) on my shuffle !
Am taking my knitting too . It will keep my hands occupied and prevent my tit Tourette's from rearing it's head on the bus ... Grin

On another note , it's my 16th wedding anniversary today .
What's the symbol for 16 ?

overthemill · 06/09/2012 08:41

morning all
pink I am so sorry, words are never enough but take it each day at a time. Wise words someone gave me.

good luck everyone having tests and waiting for results.

Had 3rd chemo yesterday with my sister for my buddy.. She was extremely good value and we nattered all day long. Really great. Shame her shifts are usually one Wednesday. Had nearly all my meds changed in an effort to knock nausea on the head plus things for sore mouth and constipation! Grin
watch this space...
bad news was my lovely vein ble - i think the nurse wasn't particularly confident but never mind. My sister almost fainted (i could see out of the corner of my eye, she went deathly white) and they brought in the 'Queen of Canulas' who was lovely and got me sorted. Once I was rigged up she was very efficient and I was out within 3 hours 15 (so at 5.15 after 8am start!!). Hurray

First days of term all round (mine, boohoo) and daughter's. Off she went in shiny new uniform looking very grown up and very nervous to her new school

pinkstarlight · 06/09/2012 08:58

thankyou everyone for your kind words, gig im so sorry your also going through this.

topsy i have to say i have always admired you,how you cope and how you carry on living your life.you really are a inspiration.

im still very calm,i have my faith and i accept my situation.but im not ready to go yet so if anyones got any good ideas about alternative theraphy could you let me know as i need to find a way of taking control.

peoples sympathy really upsets me,im not sure how to cope with that.

topsyturner · 06/09/2012 09:31

The last thing you need is people being nice to you , eh Pink ?
And btw I have very down days too , I'm not all sweetness and light !
I have just made a decision to battle the things that can be battled .
I have a cancer diagnosis , that can't be changed .
But the bastard will not dictate how I live my life !!!

I haven't tried any woo therapies (not denigrating them , just think its a great all encompassing name for them Grin )
But anything that makes you feel good can't be a bad thing I think .

Go to your local Macmillan centre and see what classes they run .
They normally do massage , yoga , counselling etc .

Amber is the queen of knowing what the latest medical treatment is , so any links she posts are always worth clicking on .

Above all , keep posting x
