Morning All

I'm up for running away to an island in the med with you all !
(actually , I'd run away to the isle of dogs right now !)

DD gone to school . Great British Bake Off on the tv .
Who fancies boiled eggs for brekkie ?

Are you home Gigs ?
Gracie how are you feeling ?
Anyone with any appointments this week ?
I have tissue viability nurse on Friday . And also on the same day I have apt with BCN for fitting of new boobie !
Dont know if she will let me go ahead with it though as I am still in my Aah Bra type thingies . Will she consider that a proper bra ???

topsyturner · 29/08/2012 08:33

X posted Gigs .
Good to see the file in the cake was put to good use ...

overthemill · 29/08/2012 09:23

Ok, for your delectation I offer: greek islands, the best of the entire med allegedly, and slightly off course a swedish island

Sometimesiwonder · 29/08/2012 09:23

Ooh Gracie that sounds nasty! Poor DH's arm! I don't have any experience of a port (some here have, I know), but if it means an end to blocked picc lines, well......

Glad you are broken out at last, Gig!

Ooh, and positive news for Topsy regarding the new boob! I don't know much about that either (can you see a pattern emerging?) but i have my fingers crossed for a positive outcome.

It is absolutely peeing down here, and one of dd's Russian penpals has just sent a message asking to be a Skype friend. There is quite a long message, but obviously, all in funny symbols Confused Sigh. Welcome back to Blighty.

Sometimesiwonder · 29/08/2012 09:28

Cross post - the Swedish one looks lovely, but I fear those guys diving into the sea may come to regret it temperature-wise.....

overthemill · 29/08/2012 09:30

morning sometimes you can use google translate you know. it might help! i think i's sweet that they have already made contact, obviously keen.
gig hurray! home at last
topsy new boob sounds good hope it works out.

my hair has just started falling out, there goes my vain hope that it wouldn't but on the plus side i don't feel very sick and daughter comes home today Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 29/08/2012 09:49

Of course!!!! Didn't think of Google Translate (idiot). Thanks OTM!

The hair thing is really crap Sad but inevitable, I'm afraid, with the BC drugs. It isn't as long as you might think before you have some hair again, though, so don't despair. I think I lost mine early July and had some back by early December, which is manageable, with gritted teeth. It's is probably excellent planning that your daughter is coming now to give you a boost. x

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/08/2012 10:33

bah, message disappeared...
anyway, v glad dd is coming home today otm but Sad about hair.
gig welcome home -though what's not to like about sponge, fruit, custard and meringue ?
Hope dh's back is ok.
Dh here isn't well today,in fact was off colour yesterday-so there are 2 of them in bed, though can hear ds stomping about upstairs.

Sometimesiwonder · 29/08/2012 12:14

Sponge, fruit, custard and meringue sounds perfect to me

Can you tell I started my new diet this very morning Sad

Gigondas · 29/08/2012 12:52

Its more what hospital kitchens do to
That mix sometimes

Hugs for otm losing your Hair is One thing you know is coming but it is still a wobbly moment. I know I cried and felt crap but now I honestly don't think that much about it except to think wig/scarf etc. in way you think of brushing your hair.

Off to look at island porn while an allowed by big gig

Ah, Gig - the penny drops. Although I have to say hospital food around our way is not at all bad. Not cordon bleu, obviously, but I am not sure my insides would know what to do with cordon bleu.

amberlight · 29/08/2012 14:05

www.quality-health.co.uk/2012cancerreports.html nifty reports on how your healthcare Trusts are doing for cancer stuff

Gigondas · 29/08/2012 14:14

Thanks for that amber and have a Brew

OP posts:
amberlight · 29/08/2012 14:26

Ooo yes, don't mind if I do Thanks

topsyturner · 29/08/2012 14:52

Hmm , thanks for the link Amber
Must pass it on to my sister as her sister in law is going back into the system again . 4 years clear , has just found a large chest wall lump at her mastectomy site .
And her treatment first time round was woeful !

As usual though , none of the hospitals over here are covered .
Serves me right for living in a "foreign" country eh Grin

overthemill · 29/08/2012 15:01

amber interesting reading. The hospital i am with is run by an entirely different trust nowhere near it (but it happens to be one i am really familiar with). It does ok for 'my' cancer but not so well for others

Laetissimus · 29/08/2012 16:58

Hi, hope you lovelies are all well -
back with an update - hosp visit yesterday to get my MRI results - picked up again on my dilated ducts which they now think could b possibly DCIS or pappiloma?
Have been booked in next Wednesday for a small op to cut around my nipple (aargh tmi sorry) to remove my ducts to test
Glad after what seems like forever I am actually getting to the bottom (ahem -breast) of what's going on
X

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/08/2012 17:52

that's good Laetissimus - will be thinking of you...
Scan today - was warned about the weeing feeling ! Stopped at the hospital's costa to restore myself afterwards Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/08/2012 19:04

Sad news from lovely friend of parents (the man who built dad's studio and did our kitchen) -he is going into a hospice- cancer secondaries, refusing chemo. Mum is very upset, dad too as he's a lovely man and only 60.
My aunt rang in a flap as she thought there was something wrong with mum (when she rang her mum said she'd had some bad news and couldn't speak, rather unfairly not explaining to aunt about friend -so aunt distraught in case something wrong with mum) Anyway,is reassured by my brother and I've rung her and listened to about half an hour of medical details of her eye operation (eeew) bless her.

graciesmall09 · 29/08/2012 20:12

Very quick pop on as not feeling great.

mas I had it in my head your scan was tomorrow, hopefully you won't have too long to wait for results. That is awful news about your parents' friend. This is such a cruel disease and 60 is still very young.

topsy thinking of your sister's sister in law. what a huge shock. Was she still under review? Really hope her treatment goes well.

Glad you are feeling a bit better otm Sad about your hair. DH and I both cried when he clippered mine off as the falling out was making me feel sick. I don't really think about it now. Plus points I can be showered, dressed and make-up on in about 15 minutes as no hair to dry Smile

laetissimus will be thinking about you and your op, hope it goes well.

Waves to all.

DH's arm still giving him pain but don't reckon its broken so he won't go to get it checked.

Gigondas · 29/08/2012 20:29

Well done on scan - think costa was just what was needed . But I am sorry about your mums friend mas and for your sis sil. topsy .

That makes for interesting reading as there really is a massive difference in Care levels.

gracie sorry you are feelin yuck.

laetissimus good luck with the op. glad you had more news.

I am doing ok but dead tired- It is only when you get home that you realise how badly you slept. I have only just managed to get big gig to bed and mini gig refused to nap all day.

topsyturner · 29/08/2012 20:44

Sisters sil has a bad history .
She had BC 4/5 years ago , had mastectomy .
Started chemo , was found to be severely allergic to all types of chemo .
Then had a stroke (poss because of chemo)
Has never been well since , but no BC issues .
Hadn't been checking her mastectomy side for lumps as thought once she had the surgery , she wouldn't have any further probs .
Her GP found what he called "a very noticeable lump" on her chest wall .
Now we are worrying what she will be able to have treatment wise if it is cancer again
Sigh , it never stops giving this disease does it ?

topsyturner · 29/08/2012 20:45

Glad the scan went well Mas , when is your results apt ?

Gracie you feeling poorly again ?
Sending you soothing vibes Smile

topsyturner · 29/08/2012 20:49

OTM losing your hair is a milestone .
It never really bothered me as my hair was always mental !

Laetissimus

Off to get sofa snacks for tonight's episode of Who Do You Think You Are (Jean Luc Picard tonight ! Can't call him Patrick Stewart !)
Suppose you have something against bald men aswell as orange men Gigs ? Grin
