topsyturner · 20/07/2012 23:10

Ooh have fun Mas .
Wave to all our London Lovelies for me .

topsyturner · 21/07/2012 02:25

Awake at stupid o clock again .
Ah well , at least I got to see Daniel Craig in those swimming trunks ...

holstenlips · 21/07/2012 03:59

Morning all - well those awake at stupid oclock like Topsy and I!
My dd has flu shes been on and off asleep all day and just wanted to get up for a while..shes nodded off on sofa and im not able to carry her back to bed as have a bad back..so shall let her sleep for a bit.
Feel totally out of thread loop! But hoping everyone ok..and its nice that this thread just continues..like a constant support for everyone..its brilliant.
I had a biopsy last week (had vulval cancer - just a reminder for those who cant remember or dont know). Still waiting on results but had a summary letter from Cons which made me a bit eek. The new area that he biopsied was 5mm which admittedly sounds v small..however it got me flustered. The cancer i had was smaller in depth so anyway im overthinking. Obsessing over q few mm! Hope to get results soon. Dont like waiting!
So is there a meet up down in london town? Did i read that correctly?
And it would be useful for lurky lurkers like me to have a succinct roundup of everyone/every thing ive missed but i know thats not possible.
From looking back on phone i think mas got some new converse..i just got a pair ..leopard print sparkly ones..not been brave enough to wear yet will try tomorrow.
And re breadmakers i have a panasonic and i love it when i cant find room to put the bloody thing on a worktop. Tiny kitchen in my cottage! I seem to have weird things in my rooms like wardrobe in dining room (couldnt get it upstairs)! Perhaps breadmaker could go in bedroom.
There seems to be lots of cooking on thus
thread too..anything lentil related is good to me. I just seem to forget lentils exist (sorry lentils)
Whos going on hols? Im going with dd (girls hol) on a lone parent group holiday to Tunisia thought we needed a treat. Ds off to Ibiza before he starts uni!
I hope all the various offsprings are doing well..my kids are amazing..boast boast..they always make me smile.
Right try to get her back to bed..its goodnight from me..x x

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2012 08:33

waving to holsten and hope topsy got some sleep...
holsten am just off to London with dh and ds- so waving in the direction of smee and gig...your holiday plans sound lovely. We are heading to Suffolk for some sea air and I hope a nice relaxing time.
Lots of good thoughts for your results too- will be thinking of you xxx

holstenlips · 21/07/2012 10:04

Have fun mas..im not far from London so im also waving!
Its a lovely sunny day anyway.

topsyturner · 21/07/2012 10:23

Morning

Hello Holsten
So does doctor think there is a reoccurrence of the vulva cancer ?
Or is this still from the initial diagnosis ?
Either way , waiting for results is an absolute bastard isn't it ?

Recap for you on me - mastectomy June 2011 / chemo (6 fec) finished November 2011 / rads finished January 2012 / 2nd course of chemo alongside with herceptin started 2 weeks ago .
Have lung secondaries , hence the ongoing chemo .
Feeling well apart from a huuuuuuge case of chemo butt .
Be ready to bored by my incessant moaning about my butt related traumas Grin

Anyone know where I might buy purple tights from ?
Need them for tomorrow , so will need to be high street not online .

Want to wear my new pink dress and purple cardigan out to lunch tomorrow .
But my chemo hasn't cleared my psoriasis enough yet to go bare legged .

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 10:33

Top shop maybe? Or marks and spencer but there range bit limited.

Hi holsten - I remember you well. I think any test/recall is stressful so hopefully it's just dr talk rather than anything to worry about . I assume that this is a precaution as I remember they were confident about getting things out with margins

Am having chemo as like Topsy have secondaries (had my original soft tissue tumour out in feb and did radio in may)so am rocking the bald look but am annoyed that still have leg hairHmm.

mas enjoy your break .

What is everyone else doing ? Am lolling a home as have used the "I have cancer " card to avoid supermarket shop, taking big gig swimming and to a party.

holstenlips · 21/07/2012 10:54

Purple tights - dotty p's? Topsy.and thanks for your update i appreciate it jeez you have had / are having a longhaul. Respect to you for being so stoic. If thats a word.
Hi Gig too. You also thanks for the update. How annoying that leg hair doesnt fall out! I imagine in all seriousness that treatment is gruelling. Ive been very lucky to have just had surgeries to date.
My cons says it could be recurrence or could be precancerous cells which is how it all started. Its the same as on cervix basically but on outside.
The cancer has a direct link to a certain strain of hpv virus so it will always be possible for it to recur. My body has not fought off the virus. I was warned off risk of recurrence so i am sort of prepared.
Hopefully the wait will be over soon as they are normally quite quick with results.

Right do we still have a fbs trolley? I need sustenance. All i have are hobnobs.
Hope everyone has a good relaxing day planned. Im nursing poorly dd. X

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 11:10

Some Cadbury heroes for you and poorly dd if you are keen. How long til your holiday? It's stay at home time til treatment is done for me but am planning some treats.

Yep treatment can be gruelling but am coping- does help that I have loads of help . Also my naive belief is if I try and take Care of myself at very least might make it more bearable and maybe who knows make it work better by taking good care of myself. No trial in world is ever going to prove that as who is going to test effectiveness by not doing their best?

Sounds like your surgeon on top of it as you sort of know cause and hopefully can Act without such a big op.

Don't they vaccinate against hpv now ? sympathy as had dodgy smears for years due to it.

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 11:11

Not sure what my neighbour is doing but his dd is having a right hissy fit in garden smug as for once not my kids carrying on.

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 13:28

Why do I look at some of other threads on here? Someone talking about how they were at nursery in 1990 and how they were sick on first day... That was not the reason I was being sick in 1990 ( can you still buy red vermouth? Do the youth of today appreciate it?).

smee · 21/07/2012 13:54

Hi Holstein, another biopsy's annoying and waiting for the result's horrid. Hope they don't keep you waiting too long. No real update from me. Still got lopsided perky new breasts. Grin

Topsy, I think you need a bread maker. Would distract you from icky things like mouth problems. Bit more expensive than mouth wash, but you're worth it.. Smile

Ned, when do you finish your Rads?? Must be next week surely?

Olympic Torch is coming this afternoon. Lots of flustered looking policemen putting barriers up. will go and watch in a bit. Will wave manically at you all if I see a tv camera. I'll be the one with the grumpiest 8 year old in the world. Apparently the torch is boring. Hmm

graciesmall09 · 21/07/2012 15:11

Huge waves to all. Glad kurri ned meet up was a success. Who is next for a meet? Grin Well done to mini ned as well.

smee any word on the little baby? I'm sure the parents appreciated your food parcel.

mas hope you are enjoying London.

Hi to holstein. Update on me. I have just had 5 of 8 FEC and then having 25 rads, herceptin and tamoxifen. Getting there slowly. Fingers crossed your results come in quickly and it turns out to be nothing.

Not long home from the wedding. We had a fantastic time. It was much better than I thought as I was worried as DH didn't really know anyone and of all my colleagues/partners going DH and I were by far the oldest. The priest was a bit of a comedian so it was very lighthearted and informal. Although we did get lost on the way and we were running late. We took a wrong turn and I was busy shouting at DH as we were at one side of the bay and I could see the church on the other side, meanwhile trying to find a WC as I had been warned if I needed to go I would have to knock the priest's door and go in his house Blush. We ended up running in as the bride was getting videod outside. Food was lovely although my appetite still not great so only ate a little bit but we had melon, passionfruit and parma ham followed by leak and potato soup. Main was chicken stuffed with black pudding, wrapped in bacon with guinness sauce, champ and parmentier potatoes and veg. Trio of puddings (cheesecake, profiteroles and meringue) and then choice of 4 types of wedding cake (black velvet, chocolate, maderia or malteser). Wine was flowing, I may have had a few, my colleagues had many.

I did cause a minor panic Blush as I nipped off to the loo got chatting and DH and colleagues went off in different directions looking for me as they were worried I was ill. Eventually they found me chatting and had totally lost sight of time.

Yesterday was definitely a much needed relief from the day to day worry/anxiety.

holstenlips · 21/07/2012 16:02

Hi Gracie and thanks v much for the update. It sounds like you had a lovely day...and the food sounds good ! Nice to kick back and relax .
Gig thanks for the fbs. And yes they vaccinate girls against hpv now..thank goodness!
hi smee.. I like your lopsided breasts they must be better than my golfballs in socks!
Hope you get to see the torch we were gutted to miss it due to fluey dd
looks like rain here..how annoying!

topsyturner · 21/07/2012 16:33

She's alive !

Sounds like a great day .

Found purple tights in M&S .
Will prob put the outfit on tomorrow , decide I don't like it , and wear my floral maxi dress instead !
I'm soooo fickle Grin

Had left over lentil soup for lunch .
Accompanied by the crack cocaine of the bread world , tesco salt and pepper tiger loaf !

Meant to be making shepherds pie for tea tonight , but still stuffed from lunch !

Gigondas · 21/07/2012 16:44

You clearly dont have same issue I have with Maxi dresses - big gig uses them as a tent (while I am wearing it).

smee big gig similarly unimpressed when grandad rang to say had seen torch. That hasnt stopped me buying some Olympic playmobil figures for me big gig.

Wedding sounds lovely gracie- so glad you had a good time.

smee · 21/07/2012 17:04

Gracie, that wedding food sounds amazing. Glad you had fun. Smile

Purple tights. In July?? Topsy are you sure the chemo's not sending you even more slightly batty? Grin

Gig, torch playmobil?! Inspired...Smile

I saw it - ran past carried by a woman with dyed red hair. DS still thinks is boring, so me and DH are going to make him suffer even more to go and see if we can get a better glimpse as it runs down another road close by in a bit. DS not at all impressed.. Grin

smee · 21/07/2012 17:05

Meant to add, baby's big day is tomorrow, as that's when they'll do some checks on her brain. She's now breathing independently 95% of the time, which is apparently a v.good sign. Keep the candles burning though. Sad

topsyturner · 21/07/2012 17:36

Have you seen the fecking weather report for NI tomorrow Smee ?
We shall probably get snow Grin

topsyturner · 21/07/2012 17:37

Shall keep Babies candle lit tomorrow x

graciesmall09 · 21/07/2012 18:08

Tell me you're joking topsy I haven't seen any weather forecasts - golf has been on all afternoon [bored]. Enjoy your meal tomorrow where are you off to so that I can gatecrash?

smee be thinking of baby tomorrow.

At least big gigs will have her playmobil olympic torch whilst hiding under your maxi dress gigs Grin

Have just ordered Indian takeaway to try to entice my tastebuds.

topsyturner · 21/07/2012 18:11

Don't think it's quite as bad as snow Gracie , I have been known to exaggerate occasionally ... Grin
We're off to Slieve Donard , am starving my self specially !

graciesmall09 · 21/07/2012 18:16

Oh yum, it is lovely there topsy

topsyturner · 21/07/2012 18:23

DHs brother is a general manager there , so we get spoilt rotten !
Tis also where we had our wedding reception - very very many moons ago ...

sandripples · 21/07/2012 19:02

Hello again. Thanks you for your waves and messages. I've been passing on tips to survive chemo to the partner of a friend today and it made me think about you all again.

Have been gardening today - forgot to put stuff on and got bitten all over my lymph-free arm which is silly, but OK so far. DS popped back after a week in the Lakes and has now popped off again to go bouldering in the Peaks! With these activities (unplanned - he just gets invites from friends which is great) plus our trip to the Olympics, it will make the time go fast while he waits for A-level results. Its very odd having no DCs in the house I have to say. DD is 23 today and DS 18, so they're flying off - sob. Well DD flew a while ago really - I do miss being in touch with her. She's always so busy that she rings home when I'm falling asleep at night. Still, hope to see her soon when we have a w/e in London.

I should think the Olympics will be a nice distraction for those needing to rest due to treatments. Unless you really can't bear them I guess.

Good luck to those waiting for results.

By the way a friend in Edinburgh lent me a book last w/e and I couldn't put it down. Its 'Gillespie and I' by Jane Harris - easy to read and gripping!
xx
