Here we go !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 17/07/2012 23:07

topsy - ring your GP and get something for the diarrhoea from him (he'll probably give you a big sack of immodium - which is a brand name - the drug is called something like loperimide, - and it will be free) lots of fluids - but not caffeine.

baskets - I'm hopeless at dressing for occasions - I never know what to wear, but it sounds as if you have everything well in hand.

Signing off for now - I'm leaving early in the morning, so bye bye all, good luck to anyone having treatment/scans in the next week, try to keep out of mischief all of you while I am away Grin xx

Baskets45 · 17/07/2012 23:15

Poor dear Topsy. Just till you get Immodium or something tomorrow, do you have anythign with codeine in the house - that might help to 'stop' you up a bit, BUT don't take more than the prescribed amount.

Good night, all xxx

smee · 17/07/2012 23:31

Good idea from Baskets, Topsy. Codeine bungs you up definitely. Hope something works soon.

Kurri, wishing you and DH especially a restful, restorative time. Come back soon.. xx Smile

Baskets if it makes you feel any better, I have no idea what a fascinator is. Confused

Baskets45 · 17/07/2012 23:48

Ah but do you know what a vibrator is?! A fascinator is one of these 'head' things, not quite a hat, that women wear to posh functions. Think Beatrice at last year's royal wedding! You should hear my husband on the subject. Of fascinators I mean!

Baskets45 · 17/07/2012 23:50

Well, today i returned 4 jackets and bought 3 prs of shoes. Online shopping's very expensive despite good bargains, but so much less exhausting. Real shops tomorrow - collecting new glasses. Yay!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/07/2012 07:38

ooh -new glasses baskets -exciting !! I am hopeless at proper clothes.
Safe journey and have a restful time kk -hope dh can relax.

OP posts:
Gigondas · 18/07/2012 07:46

Have a good trip kk

Grin at your vibrator/fascinator baskets

topsy echo what baskets said but also minimal dairy and bland foods (banana rice apple toast type thing like with kids). Had this issue with radiotherapy and it toned it down a lot by varying what was eating. ned didn't you have similar issue at one point with chemo?

topsyturner · 18/07/2012 13:03

Afternoon all

Phoned GP this morning for some tabs for my botty . Receptionist said she would speak to GP and call me back . Not heard anything yet so called them back .
They have only frigging closed half day !!!
Didn't think places still did that !

Ah well , my lovely neighbour has some Imodium type stuff she has offered me .
Failing that I shall just duct tape myself to the loo and get on with it Grin

topsyturner · 18/07/2012 13:03

Ps - I want a vibrator to wear on my head !

smee · 18/07/2012 13:10

Grin at Baskets and Topsy. Topsy, a vibrator on your head would give you a headache. I hesitate to say it, but there are better places for one....

Had a lovely morning, cycling through the rain to see my back surgeon. Then treated myself to a new t-shirt from White Stuff sale on way back. I think you'd like it MAS, it has stipes. Smile

Better do some work now. Raining here again. Hmm

smee · 18/07/2012 13:11

MAS, I meant 'stripes' !

topsyturner · 18/07/2012 13:23

Adds headache tablets to Old Lady Pill Dispenser Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 18/07/2012 13:39

So you are still seeing your back surgeon, then, smee? I've been told to bugger off by mine, already Hmm Obviously cutting back on the aftercare!

Poor topsy. Sore bum and sore head is more than you need x

Just screwed up healthy eating plan with a curly wurly - wah!!!!

smee · 18/07/2012 13:50

Sometimes, have just been discharged, but have permission to go back to him if I need to, which is good. I have ongoing numbness in my foot, so I think that's why they've kept seeing me. Apparently it's permanent now as too long has passed, but it's so trivial next to the pain I was in before surgery, that it's fine.

How's your back feeling now?? Not all that long since you had the op. Curly Whirly's are ever so skinny, so barely count. Smile

topsyturner · 18/07/2012 14:06

Uuugh , one choc chip cookie and a mug of coffee and straight back to the loo I go !
Serves me right for stealing from DHs cookie stash Grin

Lovely neighbour just brought me round some loperi-whatsit .
Gonna snarf half a pack of those and maybe shove the empty pack up my bum and see if that helps Grin

If curly wurlys are eaten standing up , they contain no calories - fact !

Sometimesiwonder · 18/07/2012 14:08

Ah, I was warned about potential foot numbness, but thankfully not afflicted. Sorry to hear you have it but, as you say, it's loads better than what went before it.

Its good that you are signed off - I am the same as you then: told to go away, but with permission to cone straight back if problems develop.

My back is pretty good, thanks. My op was mainly for pain down my legs and into my feet, which has gone completely. I still have back ache, especially today after all that messing about with curtains yesterday (I knew no good would come of it). Its also a bit stiff, but they say that should go and I ought to be able to get back to my usual superbendy self, given time (and effort, probably Sad )

Do you think I could risk another curly wurly, then?

Sometimesiwonder · 18/07/2012 14:09

Topsy Grin If that fails you could always try a cork....

topsyturner · 18/07/2012 14:28

My DD has offered me a large packet of blu tack Grin

smee · 18/07/2012 15:33

She needs to re-think that, blu tack stretches. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/07/2012 15:43

eeew !
Stripy top sounds nice smee !
ongoing bot problems not much funtopsy Sad
I can't ever eat a CurlyWurly as I lost a filling on one - they are a danger.
Have bought exciting things today- went to Basingstoke and found things that should fit the boy- all reduced- 2 pairs of swimming shorts and a nice pair of khaki shorts and a pair of Havaianas for him in purple, turquoise and orange ! and for me, a sober pair of navy Converses - I feel that my age requires less brightness Grin
oh and a dark green t shirt in the gap and a white cotton shirt in H&M - yay !

OP posts:
topsyturner · 18/07/2012 19:05

Tablets have worked !
Botty is under control Grin

Just had a major bedroom sort out .
I have ( Blush ) just thrown out 2 bin liners of bras , pants , socks and tights !
Bit bitter sweet throwing away all my humongous bras .
But have to face the fact I am never gonna need them again !

Everything else (5 bin liners of clothing) is going to the charity recycle bin .
And you can finally move in my bedroom .
Well , you will be able to once I have sorted out and rehomed (sob) a shit load of my books ...

Gigondas · 18/07/2012 19:18

Way hay Grin and well done on the sort out.

I have big indigestion issues (prob not helped by stir fry lunch) and feel knackered. So think sofa beckons as dh out.

mas new purchases sound nice.

Gigondas · 18/07/2012 19:19

sometimes take it easy with back. Meant to say my shoulder a load better but still have odd numbness left in my thumb (was hangover from when getting pains in my arm) and still stiff but not hurting.

Perhaps I need a pill organiser after all.

NedSchneebly · 18/07/2012 19:22

Yay for topsy's botty! Glad to hear things are a little more under control!

I bloody love converses. Yours look lovely on FB MAS!

Very tired today - having early night to try and catch up a bit. Got day off rads tomorrow - staff training apparently, so only 1 machine in use- and have been invited to leavers assembly for my year 6 class I abandoned after dx. Pleased that I can go, not having to fit in rads too. Staying to barbecue as well. Smile

Hope everyone OK this evening - took DS to end of term disco, but came away after an hour when he kept getting pushed/jumped on/ told to go away by a boy who is supposed to be his friend Confused what annoyed me more was the way his mother did nothing about it, and just smiled indulgently and said "oh dear, boys eh?!" It was on th tip of my tongue to say " no actually, it not all boys, just yours. . ." The problem is DS hero worships this boy a bit, as he is th coolest kid. Cool kid will play with DS if there is noone else around and then drops DS like a hot brick if someone cooler comes along. DS quite sweet and gentle and finds it hard to understand. Angry luckily they are not in the same class next year, so hopefully DS can distance himself a bit.

Sorry, that was a bit of a rant. . . As you were. . .

Gigondas · 18/07/2012 19:51

Kids can be shits and I would agree with your analysis ned - have a Wine . Oh and homemade gingerbread anyone?

A rads free day will be nice too Smile
