Nothing better than making a loud noise Ned for chilling you out Grin

You may have seen my Nephew lurking round the streets of Dorset. He is 14, small and slight, has recently dyed his blonde hair black, he will be slightly hunched in an attempt to look tough, will have a scowl on his face and will be being generally rude and obnoxious Grin Don't worry though - he will run at the first sign of danger Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/02/2012 17:28

he sounds lovely kk -poor mum, hope she's not fretting too much about it
I think the cold and damp doesn't help arthritis, does it. Chocolate brownie would help !
Hooray for your guitar ned - I conjured up quite a mental image of you there.
It's pancake day on Tuesday which means no more chocolate for Lent from Wednesday Sad must think of alternative fbs.

Kurri hope dh feels better soon- dental pain not good. And Grin at description of your nephew- could have been dss a few years back (he is lovely now... Most of the time).

Ned I have been good and sat on sofa most of afternoon. I feel so much better after seeing acupuncture lady - she does some kind of miracle. I did speak to hospital who said that some kind of wound leakage ok but to keep an eye on it (I will spare you the detailed pus analysis). Have to ring back on Monday. And glad you had a nice afternoon on the electric guitar.

Mas- a referral does sound a good idea.

I would add roly poly pudding from dinner but it all got eaten (despite fact I can never make it so it's not too dry and crispy).

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/02/2012 17:48

[faints at the idea of pus analysis]

Gentle for Holsten and Gig, and wishes for speedy healing. All sounds very ouch at the moment.

Yesterday I took the boys to the cinema - first time I've taken them on my own during the daytime, felt a bit strange, like truanting or something! We saw Tintin, and it only cost me £5 as it was a 'kids club' showing. Billy Bargain!

Today I took DS2 (8) to pick up his first pair of glasses (both DH and me short sighted so was inevitable at least one of the DSs would have specs sooner or later). He just looks even more handsome and intelligent [soppy mummy sigh].

Kurri - poor DH. For toothache I always recommend soluble aspirin (if you can) in a bit of warm water, held over the painful area.

Hope Amber is OK. She's not been on for a couple of days? That Herceptin is certainly putting her through it Sad

How posh that we have a trolley for the FBS now! Have a lovely image of our very own Mrs Overall staggering about with it! To go with Kurri's Mrs Doyle with the Brew

Naughty M&S still strewing the path to the tills with tempting chocs...and doing special offers on their Walnut Whips! Shock (I still mourn the coffee walnut whips you used to be able to get.) Have already had one - I'll add the rest to the trolley on my way to bed. x

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/02/2012 09:02

am surprised that ds doesn't need specs as we are both short sighted ! bet your boy looks adorable in them.
Proper walnut whips -yum-they used to have chopped up walnut bits in the bottom too.
We all tried some salty liqourice which I have to save is not nice -I think it tastes of cat wee..but some people love it.
Had nice dinner at friends house - v nice evening indeed.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 19/02/2012 12:19

MMm walnut whips, - I do like them (I sometimes get a pack of three in poundland) obviously not often as I am a super healthy eater

I bet DS looks really cute in his glasses LJ - is his chuffed with them?

Sorry the cat pee salty licquorice is a let down MAS, - but maybe its an acquired taste. DD and I were once on holiday in Dublin, and we bought some seriously disgusting sweets from a little old shop. But after we'd had a few we we're saying 'these are foul, but I'll just try one more' Grin

DH well dosed up on painkillers, - I'm trying to persuade him not to sleep during the day if possible, so he can sleep better at night.

Hope everyone else is feeling better today, - especially Gig and Holsten. And that Ned and OneInEight are having a nice relaxing day.

Have just heard from a very good friend (we shared a flat at Uni), that she is to become a granny Smile Smile , I've e-mailed to let her know I am beside myself with jealousy Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/02/2012 13:15

poor dh- does he have to go to the dentist tomorrow ?
Am sure the salty cat wee liquorice is an acquired taste-it's the kind of thing I would like, but no...

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 19/02/2012 13:27

he's got a dental appointment a week on Monday MAS, at which he was due to have the tooth crowned or extracted (think it will be the latter now Sad) I suggested asking for emergency one tomorrow, but apparently he was told they wouldn't do anything until the abcess is cleared up, so he has for AB's to work. He's still in a lot of pain - feel a bit helpless, as I can't do much for him, apart from organize his painkillers and AB's so he knows when he can take them.

Off to do the grocery shopping now

jchocchip · 19/02/2012 13:38

ikea do a salty liquorice, not as nice as the 'real' stuff! Aparently liquorice has toxic effects if you eat a lot of it. Someone tried to sue haribo after they were taken ill after eating a 400g bag every day for a few weeks... That is a lot of liquorice! Eating up my stach of dark chocolate here, before the start of lent. It's only 52 % so not too dark. A bit of help would be apprechiated. Mmmm walnut whips with walnut in and piped rather than molded. The modern ones are a bit of a disappointment...

My dh has broken a tooth too, he is going to the dentist on Tuesday, hope it's not too expensive. I was talking to a friend who is a dentist earlier and she said that the scale and polish I have at every check up doesn't cost any extra than the check up on its own. It is quite an expensive family outing now ds is 19.

Aw kk lovely that your friend is to be a granny. I think that is a few years off for me too, but I do so hope it happens and can understand the Envy.

jchocchip · 19/02/2012 13:40

xpost kk hope the antibees kick in and start doing their job.

topsyturner · 19/02/2012 13:54

Busy morning- Studland Beach for a breezy picnic and sand castle building. Managed to escape just at the right moment before it started to hail!

DH gone fishing this afternoon, so DS and I having a peaceful one - currently warming up in front fo fire and watching CBeebies improving and educational television. . .

Hope gig and holsten improved today, and MAS feeling less creaky.
Poor Mr kurri - hope he is feeling better soon. . . Always good to have someone else to keep track of pills when you're feeling rotten kurri sure he appreciates it.

lime cinema in th day is great - ultimate treat when I'm by myself. Took DS to see Puss in Boots the other day at 10.30am. DH did comment it was a slightly bizarre time for the cinema to be open! Hope your DS getting on OK with his glasses - bet he looks gorgeous! You feeling OK today?

24 hours from now my chemo will be underway Smile

LimeJellyforBrains · 19/02/2012 14:09

Oh yes proper piped walnut whips! I knew something was wrong with these new ones but couldn't figure out what it was (apart from too small, cream not fluffy enough, no walnut in the bottom...).

We had some 'salty caramel' cream at Christmas which I didn't think I really liked, but kept coming back to, like Kurri and her DD, until lo! it was all gone.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing, pain-free day x

I made sure Wink that DS was very excited about getting his glasses. And yes he does look extremely cute. Will try to put a piccy on my profile when I can. He's a bit nervous about wearing them for the first time at school tomorrow, but luckily there are already 3 boys with specs in his class, so should be fine.

Was wondering why I was feeling sickily anxious this morning then suddenly 'remembered': tommorow it's my first mammogram and check-up with surgeon since my dx. So that's a big day for both me and Ned: Deep breaths Ned, let's hold hands and be brave together.

LimeJellyforBrains · 19/02/2012 14:16

Shock What has been going on while I was taking half an hour to post? Milton Keynes topsy??? Purple hair????? Grin

Ned - sounds like you are having a lovely day. Very jealous of Studland (or any) beach outing Smile

NedSchneebly · 19/02/2012 14:35

Right with ya, lime , my lovely. oneineight 's got chemo tomorrow too, so she can grab on as well, if she needs to! What time is your appointment? Mine's not til 1.30, so got some jobs to do once school run done - supermarket, change beds, put a load of washing on - to keep me busy.

Can't WAIT to see topsy 's purple hair!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/02/2012 14:44

look on fb ned !! it's kind of plum !
Will be thinking of you three, LJ ned and oneineight tomorrow
Beach sounds lovely ned -it's so beautifully bright here today. Am slightly less creaky - but very sleepy ! I should do some work, but I might just rest and take a break from drawing for a change.
Have mountain of ironing later too.

NedSchneebly · 19/02/2012 15:03

MAS can't see pics on Tamoxifen page or on topsy's photos, but am not friends with her - can only see 2 photos. Are there more hidden from the hoi polloi?! May have to request friendship, just for the plum hair photos!

KurriKurri · 19/02/2012 15:57

Purple hair - definitely means a good weekend Grin - I'm not on FB, so topsy if you could manage one on your profile here, I'd love to see it (but don't if your not comfortable doing it)

Lots of hand holding for tomorrow all round. The worse thing I found about the mammo after treatment, LJ was having to go back to the breast clinic after being in the onc. unit. - it felt very weird and freaked me out slightly - just to warn you. But am sure everything will be fine, and you'll feel good once you've got the check up out of the way. Smile - and good vibes of course to the chemo girls for tomorrow.

Ned Studland is lovely - I used to go there a lot as a child, -we lived pretty close. Good thing about going in the winter is hopefully you weren't surprised by wrinkly old naturists poping out over the dunes Grin (unless of course you are one of said naturists Grin)

jane - DH's tooth was cracked and he was awaiting treatment, - so vulnerable to infection I guess. Good that your DH will get his sorted on Tues.

Am trying to rev up enough energy to make a veggie moussaka.

LimeJellyforBrains · 19/02/2012 16:06

Well that's done it: MAS I have pm'd you. Have to see these photos!

My appointment's at 9.30am. There's also a coffee morning at my chemo unit at 11.30 so probably won't be back on here until later in the afternoon - on previous occasions the other ladies have decamped to a pub for lunch but I've never been available to go. This time I thought I might try, as long as the breast clinic goes OK of course (please please). Poor surgeon though, I have a whole list of tender bits of rib and whatnot that I need to ask about. Previously I was told "Oh that's just the chemo" but think it's a bit long after for that now? Of course, it may be the extra half a stone that I seem to have put on, that's making my bra strap v tight on my ribs Blush

Smee - (random comment alert) On long journeys it's my 'job' to keep DH awake with mindless loud chat, loud radio and a steady supply of sucky-sweeties. I've only been driving again for about a year after about a 20 year gap, having switched to automatics, so don't drive DH's manual car, and still find driving quite tiring, if exhilarating! I seem to be knackered every day still, thanks for the reassurance about energy levels x Although of course Mrs Paranoia tries to say there's another reason for my constant tiredness....Hmm

jchocchip · 19/02/2012 16:55

Oh dear. Mum's cousin's husband died this morning. I was quite fond of him, he was a proper character. They live in a remote spot with two of their sons and deliver milk for a living. Aparently he was in hospital with a septic spot on his leg. I will try to get to the funeral as Mum will not be able to make it, obviously.

Gigondas · 19/02/2012 17:19

Posting from sofa - big hand holds and positive vibes for Ned and Lj tomorrow's.

Can't keep up with posts (dsis been round to visit and taking it easy today). Feeling ok but takin it easy- wound no worse but going to get one of surgery nurses to change my dressing as dh doesn't have the knack. Am hoping will come here as don fancy trip to gps ESP as trying not to put weight on the wound anymore than I have to.

Completely agree re salty sweet things being odd -but salty caramel ESP seems to be the rage in France.

Gigondas · 19/02/2012 17:20

Jchoc sorry about your cousin

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/02/2012 17:55

oh goodness jane how sad-my sympathies.
ned you and topsy must befriend one another and LJ too...
have been lying on sofa as am a bit coughy/coldy as well as knackered.
