Smoking, trying not to? Wanna quit...failed in the New Year...come join us...friendly bunch of folk waiting!

Hi, Im Charliecat, Ive been off the fags for just over a year and these smoking threads on mumsnet have helped me stay off the fags for this long, without them im not sure i wouldnt be at the backdoor smoking right now...please join.
Hoping everyone else will come and introduce themselves after me

I'm still flitting in and out cc, just got such a lot to do if I spend too long on the ever-addictive MN I keep getting behind with the work I do from home ... And we need the dosh so badly ... especially as dp's been told he may lose his job at the end of Feb!!!

Know what you mean CC! I used to check threads I'm on and there would be loads and loads but now I hardly get to come on anymore.My boys were two and four last week and are growing into great lads-I am a very proud Mum!
Haven't had a relapse since the 22nd December when I smoked a couple at a meal-have still smoked less than 10 since last March and love the fact!

HE DOES AWful long hours though doesnt he kliest? Would it be a blessing in disguise if he did lose it? I know dp would have never left his job but got made redundant and has had time to BREATHE since.
Even though it was worrying at the time.
Glad to hear your boys are doing you proud DIT...you had a puff at Xmas???!!!!!!!! You maddy...did I know that? I was ill at that tinme wasnt I? ..Naughty you !
I drove home from swimming tonight with the kids in the back Been learning since September...very chuffed with myself

stop,start,stop,start that has been me during January-reading Allen Carr again-the last time i read his book 1996!!!!!!!! I then stopped for 3 years so think i have the idea somewhere.

My big date is now 1st February.

Blaming this whole crap month on dp,I know its an excuse but he really is not helping one bit.

Havent been avoiding this stopping smoking,it messes up my brain every day

Hello NAS Its getting it in your head that theres no more smoking to be done, not even one puff, the only place that leads to is back to the ashtray See you here Feb then...wheres everyone gone???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Done Kama, you should be fine, just enjoy yourself without smoking, or the next morning you will wake up regretting it and having to start the whole process all over again.no thanks
My dp stopped for about a month now, its lovely

Charlie-the last time i really quit was also February 1st 2004 then you guessed it major event in my life July 2005 girlfriend died.

So-a 3 year quit,an 18month quit,I am feeling so angry about the whole Nicotine debate.

Why are cigarettes sold ?!!!!!!!!!!!

My kids are 8 and 5, I smoked 1.2 years ago...they dont remember

umm - can i jsut jump on ans shout that today is my 1 month anniverasry. i quit the patches two weeks ago and have not had a single cigarette since new year!!!! ;)

I stopped smoking on the 17th Dec. not had fag since then.not needed patches or anything! Im really pleased with myself. well done to those who have stopped and good luck if you r stopping.

Last night i threw tobacco,fags and rizlas in the bin.
Hope I am finally successful for good,3 yrs to go.
