Missed this thread!

I'm Dropinthe-have kicked the weed since March the 8th last year.Have had a handful of fags since but truly class myself as a complete NO-smoker!!

Never thought I could do it and its one of the only things I'm proud of apart from having my 2 boys and slowly shifting my pre-crap thyroid weight which also went up with stopping the fags.Nearly lost a stone before Crimbo but ate/drank like a pig so have now lost 10lbs but am back on track!!!

Prettyfly1-nice to hear from you again.
Queen-how has your job been going? Glad you are giving it a go-you will feel SO much better for it.

Kleist and Charlie-Happy New Year if I haven't already said it.

Everyone else-make this the year that you finally make the decision to stop and for good!
It will be the best thing you can do foryourself and your family and your LIFE!!

flutterbee · 15/01/2006 17:02

Its a week ago today that I stopped smoking. I'm soooooooooooo proud of myself and DH has told me he can't believe that I have done so well.

Another good thing is that my Parents both smoke heavily and have said that they are looking towards me for inspiration so you never know I may be able to get them both to quit just by doing the deed myself how fab is that

On the downside one of my brothers asked me the other day how the no smoking was going and I told him fine I feel OK Dh slaps the patch on every morning and its all good to which he replied "Oh your using patches, well you aren't really a non smoker until you stop using the patches" These are truly the words of a man who has never smoked

charliecat · 15/01/2006 17:08

As long as you can wean yourself off the patches flutterbbee you will be fine. I did, once...but then had a fag a few days later which put me back at square 1.
Theres a couple of folks that sometimes post that stopped smoking a year ago but cant get off the lozengers.
Its still nicotine in a different form is what your brothers saying.
You are doing fabulous though, you have now stopped, now stay stopped
Have you been coughing up green or anythign vulgar? Think I had night sweats and manic moments when I first stopped.
My mum smokes too

I am a bit of an old hand on this giving up bit,

stopped for 3 years then started
stopped for 18 months then started again!!

Know how your feeling,we all need to remind each other that Nicotine is S*

notasheep · 15/01/2006 21:57

I meant S*

notasheep · 15/01/2006 21:59

My keyboard will not take more than one star.

Keep coming on this thread,Charlie Cat rules OK and you will get tons of support.

Loads of people have had set backs-I can talk!

flutterbee · 16/01/2006 13:36

Not coughing anything up yet charlie but I expect it will come sooner or later but really I'm about it because it shws that its all coming out of my system.

Be gone poison be gone.

Dropinthe · 16/01/2006 15:21

Flutterbee-stop whichever way you can-you will be able to stop the NRT in due time-ignore any harsh words that come your way-I stopped with the lozenges but stopped them after 3 months. We all have different ways of stopping-of course it's great if you can do without nicotine but still fantastic if you need a little help.

Well done!

fionagib · 16/01/2006 21:23

so sorry for sloping away for so long, had a lapse with cigs at our new year party and was too ashmed to come back...

charliecat, have a belated un-christmas card for you here, was just about to post when I realised I have only your old address & have lost your email! what a goon - could you email me pls?

good luck all you quitters on here - my lapse made me feel so cruddy am actually relieved to be on straight & narrow again.

fionagib · 16/01/2006 21:24

PS and happy 2006 everyone!

Mytwopenceworth · 16/01/2006 22:17

can I join? I pretend to everyone that i don't smoke but i am an on-again-off-again fag ash lil! quit when pregnant but went sneakily back on them (out the bathroom window then brush teeth and drown self in perfume!) after.

I have decided to quit - but since i am a secret smoker, i can hardly ask for rl support!! My final fag was this morning at 530am.

I am going crazy and feel really breathless and ill.

Theres normal chewing gum for manic moments...BIG step backwards I MO although others would say different. Big drink of water, deep breathes in and TAKE 5 MINS AWAY FROM NORMAL LIFE EVERY FEW HOURS>>>Go outside and smile at the clouds, taking deep breaths and feeling free

Day 11 today and still going strong, I have my 2nd appointment at the stop smoking place on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to doing the carbon monoxide test, Oh God how sad do I sound.

charliecat · 18/01/2006 17:50

Thats gone quick

OP posts:
kleist · 19/01/2006 13:13

Really sorry I'm not around much at the moment. Lots of work to do from home and dd starting school have cut down my 'free' time massively. Thinking of you all thtough and I'll Be Back [schwarzeneggar emoticon]

flutterbee · 20/01/2006 19:23

This thread is really really slow, more people should quit to make it better.

notasheep · 20/01/2006 20:06

I will be back on February 1st
