Headcount -who has got ill kids just now?

DD (3) has viral pneumonia
Two weeks ago she had tummy bug and the week before that tonsilitis.
She has never had this many illnesses altogether let alone one after the other.
Who else is soothing high temps, wiping green noses and cuddling poorly babes as they hack and wheeze away with a rotten cough.
I want a magic wand, she is such a little trooper.

We're having a nightmare. DS has Henoch-Schonlein Purpura and has had 2 ear infections in the past month alongside that.

Mum2OneAndBump · 14/12/2005 19:51

tegan · 14/12/2005 20:09

coldturkey · 14/12/2005 20:16

Piccalilli · 14/12/2005 21:07

Poor little 9 week old with a nasty cold/cough...and I've got it too so keep waking her up when I've just got her to go to sleep

chipkid · 14/12/2005 21:09

had to get ds (4) from school at lunchtime today-he fell asleep on top of the climbing frame in the playground! he really is quite poorly-horrid cold-dd (14 months) has it too

Candide · 14/12/2005 22:20

My children have colds but carry on regardless dribbling snot and bogies everywhere & having ridiculous tantrums when I try to capture the said excretions in tissues/ hankies.

If only they were tired, lethargic and just wanted to sleep all day - I could have a rest.

Seriously though - my sympathies to all of you who are dealing with really ill children - especially tiny babes. Hope they are all better soon.

emily05 · 15/12/2005 10:20

ds had a gastric flu, now he is just getting over chicken pox, an eye infection and still has a cold! It is a nightmare isnt it!?

ermintrude · 15/12/2005 12:37

My son had his tonsils and adenoids out last month and new grommets put in his ears. That was three weeks off school now he's off with a heavy cold and upset stomach! Just hope that he makes it for the last two days of term next week so can finish putting up decorations in peace! DH away on business, which is very convenient!! Sorry that you are all suffering too and hope that you are all better soon but am glad am not alone.

anniediv · 15/12/2005 13:06

Not really posted much here before but just wanted to ask Ermintrude how the tonsils/adenoids were, have got 3 yo dd2 waiting for same. Am feeling really worried even though she has had general anasthetic twice before. She's fine at the moment as is DD1. DD3 (5 months) just got 2 teeth, so grizzly and got conjunctivitis. Lots of get well wishes to all the poorly babes and their mums/dads/carers etc.

RachD · 15/12/2005 13:35

Ds had fever of over 40 degrees and was in A & E on sat & sun.
I was supposed to start new job on mon.
Did not want to leave him.
Did not know what to do.

Was persuaded to go to new job.

Left him with loving s-i-l.

He is fine now.

But felt bad.

Having ill children is always awful, isn't it ?

appyday · 15/12/2005 14:32

DD 16m has had blocked nose and ears, sore throat and hacking cough for 5 weeks now. Coughed herself sick on 5 occassions, had temp on 2 days, cried buckets, slept in our bed 3 times (unheard of for her, she loves her own bed), had gallons of paracetamol and ibuprofen, seen 4 docs, and she's still no better. Been told to sit it out. Now DH into 2nd day with a temp and also out of action (his 2nd cold in last 5 weeks).

DissLocated · 15/12/2005 15:02

DD had tonsilitis and pneumonia, struggling to breathe, temp of 40 degrees, we were in and out of hospital all weekend.

We got discharged on Monday, on Tuesday the local news said the ward dd was on was closed down as all the kids had the winter vomiting bug! Fortunately (touch wood etc etc) she doesn't seem to have got it.

FlameRobin · 15/12/2005 15:24

Can I join the club? Mine isn't as poorly as lots of yours - for which I am thankful, and sending huge hugs to all of you with very ill ones.

DD has has a hacking bedtime cough for about 1 1/2 weeks, it has now turned into day and night, and is starting to sound croupy. She's made herself sick with it, and is off her food (that could just be a fad though), and is wanting lots of bottles - which in turn makes her phlegmy and sick!!! I haven't got the heart to stop the bottles though because they are filling her up.

I see another long night ahead....

DissLocated · 15/12/2005 15:26

DD also had croup a few weeks ago. The Dr gave her a steroid tablet that was just miraculous, got rid of the croupy cough in hours, have you visited the gp?

FlameRobin · 15/12/2005 15:32

I'm going to make an appointment in the morning - I hoping that she'll do her normal trick of starting to sound croupy during the day, but then it settles by bedtime and she is much happier the next day.

Suzadelic · 15/12/2005 15:53

Well I don't know whose worse, me or my DD; we both have some kind of Ultimate Flu that includes headcold, headache, sore throat, cough, fever and tummy problems! Is it me, or has this been an awful winter for flus and cold already??

GoodQueenSpursmum · 15/12/2005 16:21

Can I be disgustingly smug? Me and ds are in perfect health and have been for weeks!!! Ds is hardly ever ill.

bakedpotatohoho · 15/12/2005 16:37
