Do we have 2 Charlie's on here now???

Hope everyone's Christmas was great and if I don't get to get on here before Sunday.......

Happy New Year all!!!!!

I would also like to add that I really think trying to stop on New Years Day is the worst day to stop-so much pressure, so much guilt, so many more reasons to fail. If I were stopping all over again, I would wait a week or so. But that's just me-for anyone else going for it-then Good Luck and Good riddance to bad health!!!

charlietherednosedpussy · 29/12/2005 10:24

Morning drop, how long have you been off the weed now?

OP posts:
kleist · 29/12/2005 13:52

I'm with you, drop, re. the quitting day. It needs to be with no pressure that makes you feel like the world's going to fall in if you fail!

Are you a bit better today, cc? Gawd ... I can't imagine that you let rats wander round your home!! AGH!!! But then again, you do like going camping ...

kleist · 29/12/2005 13:54

By the way, all, I'm off to snowy Norfolk to stay with my mum (who's computerless) tomorrow until next Tuesday so I won't be around. But I'll no doubt drop in this evening ...

kleist · 29/12/2005 13:55

Oh yes, so happy new year to you all as well!! [balloons floating around emoticon]

charliecat · 29/12/2005 20:31

My f c k n g pleurisy pain is back with a vengence and that with 2 days worth of antibiotics in me.

Charlie-get well soonest!!!(do you really have rats-they would prob eat my guinea pigs)

Have a great trip Kliest-think you may get snowed in?!

Good evening to every one else who may be in a situation like mine-getting off the fags!

charliecat · 29/12/2005 21:34

Welcome back notasheep, rodents currently on my knee sleeping so will type while I can. Please either read whyquit.com till its coming out your ears, an hour a day if you can, or get you hands on an Allen Carr book
It took me a good 1-2 years to finally stop, I kept stop starting one week, one day, a month, a fag....oh constant on and offf but finally came to the conclusion that if I really wanted to stop smoking there could be no more fags. No more just ones.
I used to tap roll ups from my neighbour, someone very similar to your clients..hmmmmm
Knew I was only socialising with her as we had the same addicition but wouldnt admit that at the time.
If you really want to stop smoking you need to educate your brain about why you smoke, why you might fail and how to overcome your fear of never smoking again.
Whyquit or allen carr.
Did you know that when they banned fags in one state in the US people drove for hundreds of miles to get to the border where they could buy fags?
And that starving people swap food for fags.
Yes starving people swop food for fags.
Its not a bad habitfor anyone trying to kids themselves that it is. Its an awful drug to be addicted too.
PS rats very friendly, would happily live with your GPS

notasheep · 29/12/2005 21:47

Charlie-thanks for quick reply,I am just getting so angry with myself because i know i can do it,i have done it in the past and been v good at it,I am having such a fight with my brain!!!
I have read Allen Carr(alot)! will definately read whyquit asap.

I know where my brain needs to be and its not there at the moment, hope that makes sense!!!!!!!!

charliecat · 29/12/2005 21:49

Makes lot of sence...read more read more.........

kleist · 29/12/2005 22:26

Norfolk's about a 2.5 hour train ride from SE London, cc. Then a 45 min. car trip from the station to my mum's place. So a fairly long trip for dd. This'll be my last post of 2005 so I can do that corny corny thing of saying:

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR

and think myself very humorous!

I hope you all continue to fight the nicotine fight and I'll be looking forward to catching up with everyone in 2006.

Just been on whyquit site-plenty of reading to keep me busy and off fags.
Tomorrow i will not smoke

evansmummy · 01/01/2006 10:42

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I'm here!! After having read some of you lot saying not to quit today (), I have decided to do it anyway. I figure that I'm still getting my nicotine dose (lozenges), so it should be easy for a while. Still feel a bit sad though. Like I've lost an old friend. We have yet to see if this time will be the one.

How's you all been keeping, then? Mll (although I know you're not called that anymore), cc, fg, drop?? Love to catch up on your quitting progress!!

it's good to be back, btw

notasheep · 01/01/2006 20:48

evansmummy and giddy1- i dont think we have spoken yet,Welcome and Happy New Year.

Hope you are both feeling Ok- i feel quite crazy when i come off Nicotine,so i WAS a drug addict.

REMEMBER- One day at a time and the cigarette is not your friend it is an early death sentence.

i am Cold Turkey, its the only way for me

Charlie-I have been reading volumes on whyquit-fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!

notasheep · 01/01/2006 20:52

evansmummy-Rejoice,dont be sad,do not kid yourself that you are giving something up because mentally you will then feel deprived, when in fact stopping fags isnt deprivation its the best thing in my life i could ever do for myself and my babes

evansmummy · 02/01/2006 14:54

nota, of course i know you're absolutely right but i can't seem to help it.

well done for the cold turkey, it's what i should really be doing, but i'm way too scared of it, so am taking the chicken's way out. hope it'll work though...

notasheep · 02/01/2006 20:53

evans-just do whats best for you! I know for myself that Cold Turkey is the only thing(done it so many times that it gets a tiny bit easier)

This is my 3rd time of serious giving up-so lots of experience in this game and all the excuses we use to smoke.

Apparently there are 3 million smokers giving up right now!!!!!!!!!!

charliecat · 02/01/2006 20:54

and ive started a thread hoping to entice some od them over here :) Happy New Year you guys

notasheep · 02/01/2006 20:57
