Glad you are feeling more upbeat EM, thats hyper feelings a bit bizarre isnt it?!!!

notasheep · 04/01/2006 19:24

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS,Why do we get soooo hyper when we stop nicotine-is nicotine a depressant? it must be, you wouldnt believe how much clearing out Ive done.

Must be careful dp thinks we will end up living in an empty house.

kleist · 04/01/2006 19:38

Thanks cc, but dd's not going to reception just yet, she's just joining the pre-school nursery of the big school. She'll go full time there a year in January but just mornings for 2006.

Isn't the 'hyper' thing to do with your blood sugar levels changing? Cc did me a great link to somewhere on whyquit that explained the physiological changes. I had a cracking headache and yes was totally manic if I remember!

EM dd really enjoyed her time at playgroup in the end and never shed a SINGLE tear the whole time there which is incredible to me as she generally gets the weeps between 3-10 times a day with me . Hmmm ... But the playgroup's just closed after 20 years of being just fab, so I've had to look elsewhere. The school will be a big change for her, loads more kids (50 at a time!! ), an earlier start (groan ...) and a long trek for me. I've got a bike with a kiddy seat as otherwise I'll spend the whole time walking there and back.

notasheep · 04/01/2006 21:31

dp comes in stinking of beer,he isnt drunk! My nose can actually smell stuff now!

kleist · 05/01/2006 15:15

Yes, nota, that enhanced sense of smell can be a mixed blessing, no?

I was with a smoking mate this morning. We were off to Lewisham (groan ...) to buy school uniform stuff (her dd starts new school with mine) and she mentioned as we got on the bus that she needed to get some fags somewhere. Anyway we ended up going straight into the shopping centre as it was so close and bloody freezing and there wasn't a fag shop in sight. I watched her temper frazzle very rapidly. Even her hands got shaky. In the end I said 'why don't you go off and get some fags, have a smoke and I'll watch the girls' so she did. She came back her 'normal' self.

Geez, was I glad I didn't have the same problem any more ...

eefs · 05/01/2006 15:28

my throat hurts. I managed to stay healthy while all around me dropped like flies and not that I give up smoking my throat hurts.
It's not fair petulant whinge
Other than that doing really well, but did get sad about quitting yesterday and wondered how I'm ever going to enjoy a night out again.

Salsa · 05/01/2006 16:07

I have been cutting down since 1st jan. Initially from 20 per day to 5-8 per day. Today I have stopped.
I was doing fine until about 3pm. I am now a little bit unsettled.

evansmummy · 05/01/2006 17:57

You're doing great salsa! Hang in there and it will get easier. I'll do my "cc" bit in her bsence and say read this

GOOD LUCK

Salsa · 05/01/2006 18:47

I have read that. My problem seems to be at 3pm, I don't know why. When I tried to stop before it was at this time that I got fidgety.
I am a SAHM with a ds and dd in school all day until 5pm. Apart from housework, the computer, shopping, coffee and lunches with friends etc I am free which is when I find it difficult.
I need to find something else to do to take my mind off it.
DH occasionally smokes in the evening but said he is happy not to if it will help.
None of my friends smoke which helps but I have very little will power. I am so weak.

notasheep · 05/01/2006 20:33

Good Evening you lot! and lots of new names,if i dont mention you all in person sorry!

Salsa-read Allen Carr over and over again,he IS the best. Then you will enjoy thinking about fags and that the nicotine monster isnt controlling your every waking hour!!

evans and eefs Well Done you clever girls!

Kliest I am here again-on the nose i woke up in the middle of the night at approx 2am and i could smell toast! Asked dp this evening if he got in late and did he have toast YES!!!!!

Maybe i could become a sniffer dog and sniff out all those drugs!!!!

Charlie-We love you!!!!

kleist · 05/01/2006 21:28

Evening all

salsa, I think we all have a weak moment of the day. Mine has always been, and in fact still is, first thing in the morning. It's the first-fag-of-the-day that I crave the most. Evenings, alcohol, etc. I can handle fairly well now. It's partly because I always feel so shite in the morning, no matter how much or how little sleep I've got. And I used to use a strong coffee and a fag to get me going. Now I have nothing. Except dd nattering in my ear

Cc where are you? I hope you haven't been eaten by your rats?

And dropinthe?????

kleist · 05/01/2006 21:30

sheepy, good job you don't live in our block of flats right now. Your nose would probably explode! Dd says the corridor smells of boiled socks.

notasheep · 05/01/2006 21:55

Boiled Socks! OMG!
dd is telling everyone i dont smoke anymore which is fantastic.
I really feel like i am on a mission to kill the nicotine monster!

Yeh- 1st thing in the morning, cup of black coffee and a cigarette-those were the bad old days! now i do the washing up instead!

kleist · 05/01/2006 22:07

I still have the cup of black coffee if for no other reason than dd knows to leave me in peace until I've finished it she hovvers around my legs peering into my cup and asking politely 'have you finished your coffee yet?'

notasheep · 06/01/2006 13:19

My dd is like that too-She has come to realise that Mummy NEEDS that black coffee before she starts her day!

BUT we dont need the fags, had a cappucino in town today at regular place, actually found it quite uncomfortable with all the smoke around me,felt like i was in a bonfire!

kleist · 06/01/2006 14:31

Yes, second hand smoke starts to really get to you doesn't it? And you can smell it on other people so strongly ...

CC!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's undergoing a rat attack as we speak ... !!!!!!!!!!!!

charliecat · 06/01/2006 16:50

Sorry back again, nice to be missed
Everyones doing well...hope I havent spoke too soon.

Some grim news, went to the doctor yesterday and he actually said Oh.... ..." You have obviously done some damage to your lungs with the years of smoking"
Gawd, grim to hear. Had my mum saying I had pneumonia when I was a kid and I didnt smoke. I said I bet your mum did ...Yep.

notasheep · 06/01/2006 20:35

CC-are you OK?

Do your rats eat mice?! We have mice(well at least i think thats what they are)-as i sit here i can hear them above!

notasheep · 06/01/2006 22:06

charliecat · 07/01/2006 18:15

We were all at the pub Notasheep...We forgot to invite you
Nah....just kidding! I was in bed at 7.30 last night actually Just bushwhacked.
Got up this morning to 2 whinging kids, they didnt stop arguing for...oh about 3 hours this morning and I could have throttled them. Vaguely wondered why I shouldnt just walk out and leave them to it. They were THAT bad.
Fine now they they are very very very quiet upstairs..possibly watching ET with dp.
Our TV in the front room has broke

prettyfly1 · 07/01/2006 19:05

You will soon feel better and more in control and less mad. Promise.

prettyfly1 · 07/01/2006 20:06

thanks charlie - how long has it been for you now

notasheep · 07/01/2006 21:23

Good evening-my moods are stress, you think you want a cigarette but no,wait a minute.I know my stress feeling would be there whether i was smoker, non smoker, giver upper etc.Cigarette would give me even more stress to deal with.

Took dd to a birthday party today then we went back to the mums for glass of wine. One mum got her fags out,i glanced and for a second thought ill have one of those!! But NO!

kleist · 07/01/2006 22:02

hurray for you nota!

pf, my moods were pretty all over the place during the first bit of quitting too.

Sorry I'm a bit absent, I've done my shoulder in so sitting typing's a pain. Literally.

Cc, I was concerned to hear what your GP said about your lungs ... what did he mean? What's happening?
